Returning to You

Val’s POV

It seemed luck wasn’t on my side after all; I groaned as I picked up the magazine and winced. The girl Brian had cheated on Jess with had gone and done an interview with the same magazine that printed the story of her being pregnant and she had told them some shit story about her sleeping with him and him saying he loved her. It was total crap but a lot of people would believe it and I knew Jess would see it soon which would upset her. I groaned again before pulling out my phone to ring Brian and warn him.

Jessica’s POV

I was packing items onto the conveyor belt in the supermarket when something caught my eye. Straightening I walked to the magazine rack and pulled out a glossy paged magazine and stared at the cover.
It showed a picture of the girl Brian had cheated on me with and a description saying that she was telling all about her wild night with him and proclamations of love. I raised a brow before opening it up and scanning the interview. I laughed in bits and shook my head at others before closing and throwing back on the rack before making my way over to the conveyor again and loading the rest of my food.

Brian’s POV

I groaned as I got off the phone with Val and ran a hand through my hair in frustration. I shook my head as I grabbed my keys and headed out to my car, I had to find Jess before she could read it so I could explain, I didn’t want her to hate me all over again.
She wasn’t in when I got there and I groaned knowing that meant she went out and would most likely see the interview before I could explain. I sat on the porch with my head in my hands as I waited for her to get back.
It didn’t take long for her to come back. She pulled into the drive and parked before getting out and I rushed over to her and tried to explain hurriedly
“Jess I am so sorry, none of it is true-” she but me off my holding up and hand and pointing to the trunk of the car
“can you help me with this before you start explaining, I’ve got frozen stuff in here” in nodded and moved quickly to grab the bags and load them into her kitchen.
I watched as she shoved the frozen stuff away and grab a bottle of water before she seated herself on a stool and looked at me
“ok now you can explain” I shook my head as I spoke
“that stuff she said in the interview wasn’t true, none of it I mean all we did was kiss, I never slept with her in fact I never saw her again after that and I definitely never slept with her or told her I loved her, I would never because I love you” I finished and looked at Jess who was watching me steadily.
She sighed before saying
“Brian I know you never slept with her I mean you couldn’t after the kick Hannah gave you” I chuckled and she grinned as well before continuing “I know that what she said was a lie, she just wanted her moment of fame, I mean most of her facts were wrong anyway I mean she said that you slept together a week after I left and I know that’s impossible as you were in a different part of the country from where she says you were” I let out a sigh of relief
“thank god you believe me” she nodded
“I have no reason not to, I know you would have told me anyway and besides I don’t like lying skanks like her” I nodded and smiled
“so we’re all good?” I asked and she grinned
“of course” I sighed again before sitting on a stool next to her and saying
“I’ll fix this, I’ll do an interview and tell them what really happened” Jess shrugged
“don’t bother I mean the press are gonna believe what they want to, what makes the best story and people will believe what they want too, you don’t need to correct it” I frowned
“but they are lying” Jess smiled at me, giving me that look like I was naive
“Brian leave it, it doesn’t matter to me what they think and it shouldn’t to you either, we know the truth, the guys know the truth so just leave it” I huffed but nodded
“ok but I am making a statement on the site about it” Jess shrugged
“if you want but don’t do it on my account”
“I’m doing it for me, I don’t want people thinking I slept with that whore” Jessica giggled and that quickly we were all good.
