Skittles, Friends and a Little Thing Called Love

Gerard's PoV

That’s right, Mikey did, I thought to myself as confusion spread across her face like a dark cloud, and she tried to put two and two together.

“But... Why would... You mean...?” she trailed off, understanding showing in her face as she finally realised what was happening.

“You don’t have a girlfriend?” she asked quietly, as if afraid of the answer.

I shook my head, and enjoyed seeing her face light up as she hugged me.

But she pulled away quickly, confusion once more making its way onto her delicate features.

“But... why would Mikey lie to me?” she questioned, frowning.

“I don’t know,” I hated lying, but to tell her the truth would be kinda stupid, seeing as the truth wasn’t exactly something I wanted her to hear just yet.

“Oh," her face fell.

I sighed, knowing I needed to get back to the more important subject.

“Why did you do this?” I asked, gesturing to her wrist and hand, and the glass that surrounded us.

She blushed, “I didn’t mean to cut myself. I-I... I don’t really know. I guess, I just thought...,” she stammered, looking away, embarrassed.

I tilted her face up towards mine. “Come on, tell me. What happened?”

“I was just so angry...”

“At me?” I asked, worried.

“More at myself for trusting you... and Pete... I mean, Pete wasn’t who I thought he was, and then Mikey tells me you have a girlfriend... and.. I like you, and I was angry at myself for liking you, and letting myself fall into what I thought was a trap. I kinda lost it...” she looked at the broken mirror somewhat regretfully.

Sitting on the floor next to her, I pulled her closer so that her head rested on my shoulder.

“My parents are gonna kill me,” she said quietly.

“Oh shit! My parents! They’re gonna be back soon!” she squealed, jumping up and pulling me with her as she hurried over to look out of her window.

“Uh... so? I’ll help you clean up, don’t worry...”

“No! It’s not that! They’ll think I disobeyed them and invited a boy up to my room!” she hissed.

“But... Mikey and Frank are up here all the time, aren’t they?”

“Yeah but that’s Mikey and Frank... they’re like my brothers, and I didn’t ask for permission to have friends round tonight or anything!”

“Jeez, your parents are strict, huh?” I asked, slightly surprised.

“Ha ha... yeah... You need to get out now though, seriously,” she said, gesturing towards the window.

“Yeah, you can keep my shirt, ok? It’s kinda got blood all over it...”

“Yeah, ok,” she smiled gratefully as I leant in to kiss her softly before climbing, bare-chested, out of her window.

Of course, as luck would have it, at that very moment two headlights appeared in the driveway as I found her parents staring at me, almost as shocked as I was...
