The Run-away Fire
Scene 8- Outside cabin
Setting:
Robert, Tom, Jayden, Elizabeth and Will are standing outside the cabin. Tom is holding up a piece of clothing.
Robert:
[Pointing to a bush] This is where we found it.
Tom:
We started to look around, but we haven't found anything else yet.
A police officer comes running up to Tom.
Officer:
Bad news, there's a bush fire on the way.
Elizabeth & Will:
Oh no!
Elizabeth starts crying.
Officer:
Don't panic. We've already contacted the fire brigade and they'll be here ASAP.
A siren sounds in the distance.
Jayden:
That sounds like them now.
Two firemen enter stage right.
Fireman 1:
The fire is headed for the campsite and everyone has to be evacuated now.
Elizabeth:
[Panicking] But our children are out there!
Fireman 2:
Don't worry we're going out there now and if we see anything we will contact you immediately.
Robert:
We better come.
Fireman 2:
Yes of course.
Fireman 1:
We better hurry.
Tom:
Come on.
Robert:
I'm sorry. You are going to have to stay here.
Robert, Tom and Firemen 1 and 2 exit stage left.
Will:
What if they don't find them.
Elizabeth:
We've got to go after them.
Will:
No we can't.
Jayden:
Yes there's a fire out there.
Elizabeth:
I know but our children are out there.
Jayden:
All we can do is hope for the best and keep a phone close, encase they call. I've got to go, everyone needs to be evacuated.
Will:
Bye.
Jayden exits stage right.
Elizabeth:
I can't just stand around. I have to know if my kids are ok.
Elizabeth exits stage left.
Will:
Wait, oh no.
Will exits stage left. Jayden enters stage right.
Jayden:
Everyone is being evacuated [looking around confused] hey! [To the police officer] where did they go?
Officer:
I don't know, oh dear.
Jayden:
What is it?
Officer:
I think they went in to the bush.
Jayden:
Oh no, I told them not to.
Officer:
Quick, we better go after them.
Jayden:
Yes.
Jayden and the police officer exit stage left.
