Another Night, Another Score

Alex bent down into the tiny camera that is positioned on top of the laptop screen that was sitting on the top of his bed, “Okay so these ones?” he said holding up the plaid ones, “Or these?” He says, picking up a second sock, it was a solid blue colour.

“I don’t think which sock you wear will make a difference.” Zack’s voice sounds from the computer. Alex sighs, “But the blue ones are much more comfortable where as the plaid ones says I am not afraid to take a risk.”

“You are most certainly are afraid to take risks Alex!” Zack laughs “It took you three months to ask her out.”

“Wear the solid ones, they are more comfortable anyways, oh and Alex?” Zack says before Alex could say anything back.

“Yeah?” Alex asks, as he lies onto his bed, pulling his laptop onto his lap as leans onto the wall.

“I just wanted to apologize about the other night where I snapped at you for not asking Dani out, I was just frustrated that its so obvious that Dani and you have something going on between you two where as I have no one since Brittany dumped me for that loser Chuck.

“Don’t be sorry Zack, If it weren’t for you I wouldn’t be about to go on a date with Dani, so I should actually be thanking you so, thank you Zack.” Alex says smiling.

“Whatever.” Zack says laughing “Go get ready for your freaking date.”

“Okay, thanks Zack bye!” Alex says closing the window by pressing the little x on the right side of the window.

After thirty minutes of outfit choosing Alex finally got into the shower, however not before quickly glancing at the digital clock at his bedside only to see that Alex was already ten minutes late. He swore as he hastily, Alex knew he needed to take a shower so he quickly jumped into the shower and with in two minutes he was out and dry.

He blow dried his hair not completely dry but dry enough that there was no water dripping from his hair. He got dressed and rolled deodorant on Alex ran out the door only to come back through the door because he realized he forgot to lock the his front door, and his car keys.

Alex grabbed his previously forgotten things and then bolted out the door, after of course he locked the door.

While Alex was trying to get to Dani’s house as fast as he could Dani was at her apartment, waiting.

“Jasper! I don’t think he is going to come!” Dani says sniffling while sitting on the ground talking into her phone.

“NO! Don’t even think that! He is probably running late from traffic or he had to pick something up!” Jasper said fiercely. “And no way is he going to be missing this date, he apparently been telling everyone about it and how excited he is for it.” Jasper explained.

“Thanks Jazz,” Dani says grateful that she has such an amazing friend that supports and reassures her, Dani knows that which out Jasper she would most likely he either dead or wasted.

“Your welcome.”

“Wait.” Dani says suddenly “How do you know that Alex said he was excited for our date?”

“Oh.” Jasper pauses “I’ve mm been texting Jack.”

“Oh that makes sense!” Of course Jack would tell Jasper the two have became close friends lately and Dani decided it makes sense that since Jack was mad at Alex he needed to vent and his only best friend that wasn’t in the band would be Jasper.

The two were quiet for a while, both lost in their own thoughts. However they didn’t have long to ponder for the silence in Dani’s household was interrupted by the sudden sounds of knuckles knocking on the wooden door.

“JAZZ!” Dani whisper-yells into the phone, grinning ear to ear. “He’s here!”

“See?” Dani could hear the smile in his voice “I told you, now go get em tiger! Call me and tell me all about you date!”

“Depending on how late I get back though.” Dani said wondering where Alex was going to take her for their first date.

“You are coming home by elven thirty got it?” Jasper demanded.

“Yes, I got to go now!” Dani says hurriedly “Bye, love you!”

“Love you too!”

Dani pulled herself up from the floor, “Coming!” She calls out, she quickly checks her make up making sure nothing was smudged, after also making sure there was nothing in her teeth either so she opened the door, only to have a perfect looking Alex blurting words out his mouth.

“Oh my god I am so sorry I could pick whether to wear the plaid ones or the solid coloured socks, and then I had to pick what to wear for this date but before all this I was apologizing to Zack about something because I am a good friend. After the whole choosing what to wear I had to take a shower cause otherwise I would have smelt a little ripe and I don’t want that cause I wanted to impress you and I highly doubt that smelling ripe and I also tried to shave and went around looking for my ra-”

“Its okay Gaskarth you can make up for it later, now lets get going!” Dani giggled as she locked her front door.

Alex picked up the menu hiding behind the large pages. holy shit, what do I do now? Normally he would be acting cocky, showing off to his date, impressing them by all telling them about all his accomplishments within the past six years. However Alex knew that Dani wouldn’t be impressed by these things and Dani didn’t seem to be a girl for small talk. she deserves so much better. Alex thought.

However before he could say anything he felt the menu slipping out of his hands, it was too late though. The menu slipped and fell onto the table causing the cutlery and the plates clash together.

“I am sorry!” Alex quickly apologized to Dani.

Dani couldn’t help but giggle at Alex’s clumsiness and the look of distress on his face. “Don’t worry about it Alex.” She chirped happily.

Dani just couldn’t believe that Alex had actually called her to ask to go on a date with her! A famous musician interested in such a normal looking girl with no special talent for anything.

“Are you ready to order?” A waiter with soft brown hair asked while staring with his piercing dark eyes directly at Alex. He looked at him with such disgust that Dani couldn’t help but wonder if they somehow knew each other.

Alex noticed this too, and his first thought was that he must know this guy, after a few seconds of searching in his mind he was certain he didn’t know the guy and never seen him before.

Dani and Alex exchanged glances, Alex could see that Dani was wondering if he had done something to this mysterious waiter, he shook his head slowly and looked back to the waiter. “Yes, could I get the Grilled Portobello Sandwhich and a coke please?” The waiter jotted it down , “And you mam?” His facial expressions quickly drops and is replaced with a much kinder expression.

“The Grilled Salmon on Naan Bread please.” Dani says confused.

“Coming right up,” The waiter smiles pleasantly to only Dani and walks off. As soon as he was out of hearing range, Dani burst out in laughter.

Alex turned bright red, embarrassed that somehow a stranger could so openly hate him. Sure he was used to it online and at concerts or when he was with his bandmates because All Time Low did have their haters but Alex was a paying customer and on a date, never had a person serving him been so mean to him.

“Oh, awe sorry Alex I am not laughing at you! Just this whole situation!” Dani explains with a huge smile on her face.

Alex couldn’t help but smile back.

The two sat at their table patiently as they waited for the waiter came back to give them the check. Alex and Dani have been talking and laughing whenever they weren’t eating everything is perfect, though Alex nothing could ruin this not even the waiter.

“Yeah and the cat chased me down the road after that.” Dani said telling Alex.

Laughing Alex replied “Oh god, then what happened?” He couldn’t get over how every time she laughed her eyes would squint causing her nose to wrinkle up, he couldn’t help but notice how she was wearing no makeup but eyeliner, that he could tell.

“Here’s your check,” the waiter says. “Thank you” Alex replied

“You honestly don’t remember me do you?”

With a sigh, “No I am sorry I do not.”

“Of course not, you jerk.” He huffed and walked away.

“I am sorry about that.” Alex said trying to avoid eye contact with Dani. She leaned over the table, placing her soft hands over Alex’s, “Its not your fault.” She says staring right into his soul.

“Lets get out of here,” Says Alex happily, “Come on!” He turned his hand around on the table so their palms are touching, he grabs her hand and pushes his fingers through Dani’s.

Running out of the restaurant hand in hand they walk down the street passing Alex’s car that was parked not too far from where they were eating at.

“Were are we going?” Dani asks quietly.

“To the pier.” Alex says simply, refusing to give any more away.
“Ta dah!” Alex says pointing to the sunset with his right hand as they stood on top of a grassy hill, at the bottom of the hill was a small beach leading towards the water.

“It’s beautiful.” Dani gasps

That sunset is nothing compared to you. Alex thought to himself.

“Thanks!” Dani says as a smile grew on her face, without looking at Alex.

“Did I just say that out loud?” Alex panics as his eyes grew as he turned his head to looking back at the sunset.

“Yeah but thats okay, it was really nice of you to say, no one has ever called me beautiful except my parents.” Dani says quietly.

Alex was thinking of something to say but instead of words a hiccup escaped from his mouth. His heart started pounding fast, he felt so embarrassed.

Dani slowly turns her head to look at Alex, forcing Alex to look back at her. Dani smiled again and leaned closer to Alex.

is she going to kiss me?! Alex’s heart starts pounding he could feel his chest beating erratically, should I be leaning inwards too? But what if she isn’t going to kiss me?!

Alex leaned in waiting for those soft lips to touch his, he have been dreaming of this for weeks, except he felt something else.

Dani’s arms were wrapped around his waist as she snuggled into Alex’s chest, and his lips were on the top of her forehead.

“You are too cute Gaskarth.”

“Hey! Are you questioning my manliness?” Alex teased as he wrapped his arms around her waist and turning his head to the side so his cheek was now on the top of her head.

He breathed in and out slowly wanting to stay like this forever, at this moment all he could think about for Dani.

Not once did Lisa, Zack, Jack, Rian cross his mind, all of his problems were gone and nothing at that moment mattered more than having Dani in his arms. He decided at that moment he was determined he was going to make Dani his, no matter what, forever.
