Your Hand In Mine

deux

No fucking way. There's absolutely no way Kris Letang was two feet away from me. Nope, it wasn't possible.

"Kris.. as in Kris Letang of the Pittsburgh Penguins? Number fifty-eight?" I asked.

"Yup. The one and only," he joked.

"Pinch me," I breathed.

"Um.. okay? If you say so," he said and started to move his hand towards my arm. I guess I said that out loud, didn't i?

I stopped him just before he pinched me and laughed. "Sorry. I didn't mean for you to literally pinch me. I just kind of can't believe you're standing here talking to me. I mea,n I watch every Pens game I can, and I've always wanted to meet one of you guys. It's just sort of shocking, that's all."

He laughed at my response. "Well, I 'ave never really seen someone be so amaze when they meet me, so this is a first. Most people, especially girl, freak out when they meet, or even see Sid or Geno. They're like 'OMG! I love you! Will you marry me!?'" he said using a girly voice that made me laugh.

"You sounded exactly like a girl, which is sort of scary," I laughed. "And don't worry, I'm not some psycho fan that follows you around everywhere you go."

"I don't know 'ow they get their voice so 'igh, though. And when they scream.. Oh, it make me wish I were deaf or somet'ing. And that's good to know. I mean, that you won't follow me 'ome when I leave 'ere," Kris replied.

"Yeah," I nodded. "So, why are you here, exactly? Shouldn't you be out with the guys or with your girlfriend or something?" I asked.

"Well, I don't 'ave a girlfriend. I 'aven't for a while now. And most of the guy didn't feel like getting toget'er tonight and said that they want to rest. So, I decide to take a walk, and I end up 'ere. What about you?"

"Uh. I'm single too. I would be at home with my friend, but she went out to dinner with her boyfriend.. So, I figured I'd take a walk to the park. I'm addicted to the swings, what can I say." Speaking of swings.. "Oh! I almost forgot! You wanted to listen to this song," I said. He laughed a little.

"Here," I said as I gave him a headphone.

"Merci," he said and smiled.

We sat there for the whole song, which was about eight minutes, and looked at the stars that were starting to appear in the sky. When the song was over, he gave me back the headphone and I put my iPod in my pocket.

"Well," I started, "I guess I should get going." I didn't want to go, but I didn't want to make Kris feel like he was stuck here talking to me.

"Yeah," he hesitated a little. "Do you mind if I walk you back to your place? I'd understand if you didn't want me to, though," he finished, looking slightly embarrassed for asking. I could honestly say that I didn't expect him to say anything like that.

- Kris -

"Sure. I could use some company," she reply, getting up from the swing and reaching out for my hand to help me up. I was glad she didn't say no. I just couldn't walk away from her. She was so beautiful and funny and wasn't anything like the girl I have ever dated--not that I plan on dating Shane, yet. I don't even know her.

We walked in silence until we got out of the park and onto the sidewalk.

"So," I started, "what's your favorite color?"

"Twenty questions, really?" she laugh.

"Nope," I replied with a smirk.

"Uh huh, sure it's not. My favorite color's green. And would it kill you to be more original, Kris?" she smiled.

"Alright, alright. Um.. I got one!" I exclaimed. I stop walking, which cause her to stop walking, too. I turned to my left a little and point to a guy walking down the other side of the street. From what I could see, he was a little taller than me, had short black hair, and was wearing nike, jeans, and some t-shirt. If I were a girl, I would say he was pretty attractive. But that's beside the point. "Okay, see that guy across the street? Would you go over there and ask 'im if 'e would show you 'is sock?"

She laughed. "Sure! Hang on. I'll be back," she exclaimed. After knowing her for about a half an hour, I could already tell that I wanted to spend more time with her. She walked over to the guy and ask him if she could see his sock. He agreed after a minute and took off his shoe.

She burst out laughing. "Kris! They have Hello Kitty on them!" she yelled over to me. I almost fell over from laughing so hard. How great is that? What guy wear Hello Kitty sock? The guy was obviously embarrassed, so he put his shoe back on and walk away from her. She made her way back over to this side of the street.

"Just so you know, I don't own 'ello Kitty sock, nor would I ever t'ink about buying them," I said.

"Good, because I'd make fun of you for the rest of your life," she laugh and we started walking in the direction of her house again.

"Okay, moving on. 'ow many box of cereal do you currently 'ave in your kitchen?"

"That one was original. I'm proud of you," she said as she laugh. "I have seven. Captain Crunch--best cereal ever invented. Don't even try to tell me it's not, because it is. I also have Lucky Charms, Cocoa Pebbles, Fruit Loops, Frosted Flakes, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and Apple Jacks."

"Look like someone love cereal just as much as I do. My favorite's Cookie Crisp, though. Next question, what do you usually order at McDonald?"

"I don't really go there except in March when they have Shamrock Shakes. Those are really good. But if it's not March, I usually order a happy meal. Cheeseburger, not chicken nuggets. I go when I win a free BigMac at your games if you score in a certain two minutes, too." This girl continue to amaze me. Most girl wouldn't even think about going there because they think a french fry is going to make them gain thirteen pound. But she go to get a shake and free BigMac.

"I think we have time for one more question before we're at my front door," she says. Damn.

"Okay. On a scale of one to fifty-eight," I started and purposely use my number, "'ow messy is your room?" I know it's kind of a weird question, but it's the first one that I thought of. And hey, she already ask to see some guy's sock.

She cracked up a little. "Oh, jeesh. Um, eleven? No, definitely twenty-five. Or it could be twenty-nine. Actually, I'm going to have to go with forty-eight," she said, using my teammates' number just to mess around with me. "Well," she began, "this is home," motioning to the building we were standing in front of.

"I told you it wasn't twenty question, because I only got to ask you six, including the one where I ask to walk you 'ome. But I have one more," I said.

"Alright. Go for it," she said with a smile.

"Will you come to my game tomorrow? It's against the Devil. And I'll get you two ticket and locker room pass," I told her.

"I'm in," she said with a huge smile on her face.

"Awesome. I'll seen you tomorrow, then," I said.

"See you soon, Kris."

"Bonsoir, Shane," I said right before she went inside and closed the door.
