Your Hand In Mine

trois

At the crack of noon the next morning, I was woken up by the doorbell. If sleeping were a job, I'd be making millions. Seriously.

I walked over to the window and pulled aside the curtains a little bit. Damn, it was bright out. I squinted my eyes tighter and saw a big white van. Are you serious? The FedEx guy was the one who woke me up? Bastard. I'll get you back one day, I promise. You'll be sorry that you ever hit my buzzer.

As I walked downstairs to go get the package, I wondered what could be in it. Did I shop online recently? Nope. Was my birthday coming up? Not for another two months. A bomb? I doubt it. I gave up and opened it.

Just like he promised, two tickets and locker room passes were in there. I didn't think I'd be getting them like this, but I wasn't complaining. There was also a note on top of a neatly folded black jersey.

Shane,
Here's two ticket for you and a friend for the game tonight.
Oh and I got you a jersey too. Just incase you didn't have one.
I bet you can't guess whose it is.
- Kris

I picked up the jersey and turned it around, already knowing whose it was--his. But I had to check, just incase he personalized it and put 'Fuckoff' or something as the name and '69' as the number or something. Turns out, I was right the first time; it was his last name and number.

I looked at the tickets to see what time the game started. Seven thirty, perfect. I guess now would be a good time to call Lex and ask her to come with me. I dialed her number and waited, and waited. She didn't pick up, causing it to go to voicemail.

"Please leave a message after the beep," the lady told me. "Beep."

"Why the hell aren't you answering your phone!? You always answer it. This is freaking important! Like life or death important! Plus, I want to hear about how it went with you and Rya,n because you never called me! I hope it went good. I mean, why wouldn't it? You two are so in love it makes me sick. Anyway, if you don't call back within the next five minutes, I will never talk to you again!" I said and then hung up. Obviously, I'd still talk to her, even if she didn't call in the next five minutes, but I just like to mess with her.

"Hey, bitch! It's me, Lex! Pick up your phone! You and I both know that deep, deep, down inside of you, you want to talk to me! So, pick up your phone, so I don't have to keep calling you and th-" I opened the phone to stop her personalized ringtone for when she calls. Sometimes, I let it play, just to laugh.

"Not even twenty seconds after I set the phone down, you're calling me. On the bright side, I won't have to stop talking to you because it hasn't been five minutes yet," I teased.

"Yeah, yeah. What is it that's so 'freaking important'? And dinner was good. We went to some small Italian place. I got some Chicken Parm. It was amazing. Then we came back home, watched a movie, and went to sleep. Nothing exciting."

"Aw, glad to hear you had a good time. I've got something exciting to tell you, though. Guess."

"Man, I suck at this. Okay. Are we going on a shopping spree?"

"Negative. You know I hate shopping. Guess again."

"Um.. You finally found someone?"

"No. Well, yes. Sort of."

"Spill," Alexa demanded.

"Long story short, I met Kris Letang at the park last night, and then he asked me to come to his game. He gave me two tickets, so I was going to ask you and see if you wanted to come."

There was some silence then a squeal. So this is what Sidney and Geno have to put up with.. I really do feel bad for those guys. "Are you shitting me? You're practically in love with him! This is great! I'm so coming! When is it?"

"No, I wouldn't shit you, you're my favorite turd. By the way, I got that from my grandma. And I'm not in love with the guy. I just think he's a great hockey player. Plus, I don't see him like that. At the very most, I'd see him as a pretty close friend. And thank you so much! It's tonight at seven thirty," I told her.

"Whatever helps you sleep at night, Shane. And is it okay if I just meet you there? I promised Maddie we'd go shopping at one-ish then possibly see a movie," she said, referring to her little sister.

"Yeah, that's fine. I'm just happy you're coming. I'll see you tonight, freak."

"Bye, babe." Then we both hung up.

I didn't have anything really planned for today, other than going to the game, but that was later. So, I decided to be a couch potato all day.

I looked at the clock. Only two and a half more hours until the puck drops.

There really isn't a point to this chapter. Sorry.
And I'm not one to ask for tons of comments, but could I get a few, just to see what some of you think.
I still don't have an exact idea of where this story is going, I'm close though. I'm open to suggestions if you have any, too.
