Your Hand In Mine

I pulled into the parking space, stepped out of my car, and was greet by a very happy looking Max.

"Yo, Tanger! You get some last night?" Max yell, wiggling his eyebrow and striding toward me.

"No, but I am sure you got enough for the both of us," I smirk.

"Yeah, you aren't kidding. This blonde chick, Haley. No, Hannah. No, something with an 'h', though, this girl.. she was great. I even got her number because she was so good. I never get girls' numbers. NEVER. She was just too hot not to, though."

I pretended to be shock. "Aren't you like, I don't know, breaking one of your rule or somet'ing, Mr.-I-only-do-one-night-stand."

"Ha. Ha. Very funny, Kristopher."

"'ey, I am just saying. You 'ave probably done 'alf the city of Pittsburgh by now, it was bound to 'appen."

"So, you're telling me that you spent all of yesterday with Shane, and you didn't even bang the girl?" he asked in a horrified tone, like it was a sin or something.

"Correct," I smile. "I respect women, unlike you," I smirk and start to walk into the arena.

"Hey! Wait up!" Max call. I stopped and turned around. "Sorry, sorry. I forgot you're not like all of the other guys," Max apologized.

"It's okay."

"So, you must really like this girl, eh?"

I felt my face heat up a little. If I did not tell him now, he would beat it out of me, so, I figure I would save myself the pain. "Yeah, I do. A lot. But I don't know if she feel the same way about me," I sigh. "I 'ope she do. Yesterday, when we were at the zoo, the ostrich decide to do its business right in front of us, and she turn 'er 'ead into my shoulder, and I wrap an arm around her, but then she tense up. Then when we were watching a movie last night, she didn't sit far away, but she didn't sit close, either. She is driving me crazy. She doesn't feel the same way about me, I know it."

"Man, Tanger. You got it bad for this girl. My advice normally sucks, but I'm still going to try and help you. You must really like her, because you just have this beautiful glow abo-" I pushed him into a wall, causing him to momentarily shut up and let him know that his 'advice' wasn't helping. "Ow. Sorry, I was just kidding. But if you really like this girl, then don't give up. She'll come around and realize that she likes you just as much as you like her. Give her some time, don't make it completely obvious you're practically in love, but make sure you give her some hints. There. Was that helpful?"

"Actually, it was. Who knew you could be so deep."

"Shut up," he said, annoyed.

We walked into the locker room, and all of the guy were already getting change. Normally, I am one of the first there, along with Sid, but not today. We changed, then head onto the ice.

Coach made us do some lap around the rink then we worked on the power play and penalty kill.

"... who's going to send it around the boards, you got that Kris?" Um, what? No, I was too busy thinking about Shane to listen to you, Coach.

"'uh? Yeah," I said. Max shot me a look and mouthed 'liar', which made Flower look back and forth between us. I made a mental note to clue the guy in later.

We worked on whatever Coach was lecturing us about, then practice was over. I hit the shower then went over to my area to get change. There was only a few guy left, one of them being Marc.

"Come on lovebird, you're taking forever," he complained. My head shot up from putting my shoes on. How the hell did he know that a girl was on my mind? "Max. The boy can't keep his mouth shut," he explained. Oh, he was in for it. That is the last time I tell Max something important. But the guy did give pretty good advice..

"So, you 'eard, eh? Did 'e tell you what 'is advice was?"

He nodded his head. "Yep. And I would have told you the exact same thing. Time, Tanger, just give it some time," he smiled and walked out of the room.

I grabbed my hat, ran my finger through my hair, put it on, then head to my car. I got in and pulled up to the gate where all of the fan were waiting. I alway stopped and got pictures and signed stuff. It alway seemed to make the fan happy, and I am all about putting smile on people's face. I also did it because when I was a kid and I would go to some of the Montreal game, most of the player never stop for me, and I went home upset.

I thought about texting Shane on my way back home, but I figure, you know, it wasn't safe. Well, that hasn't stop me before, but I guess I want to be able to actually focus on what she was saying, I don't know. Man, what this girl did to me..

When I got home, I made myself a sandwich and grabbed my phone. Hey. I typed then hit send.

Two minutes passed by.

Five.

Seven. Great, I knew she would never want to talk to me again. Or maybe she was just busy. Yeah, that's it. It was nearing nine minute before I felt my phone vibrate. Yes! Thank you, God!

Hey. Sorry, I heard my phone ring, but I couldn't find it, so I had to to keep calling it till I tracked it down. What's up?

Good job. And nothing really, just watching some TV. You?

This time, only a minute passed by.

Trying to make a cake with Lexa lol

Sound fun. Tell her I said hi. Great, she probably think I am texting her just because I have nothing better to do, just great.

I'm brilliant. I will ask her if she want to go to dinner tonight. Well, that wouldn't be taking thing slow then. I guess I could include 'as friends', even though I really wish it was a 'date' instead.

But now I'm like sort of asking her out over a text, that is lame. I should call her.

She said hello :)

Well, it was now or never, Tanger. All I had to do was pick up the phone and press send.

And that's exactly what I did.

"Hello?" Shane ask, sort of confuse. "Is it necessary to call, because I thought we were doing just fine with texts?" she laugh a bit.

"Yep. It was very necessary to call. Because what kind of guy would I be if I ask a girl to go to dinner with me--as friends, of course," oh, that killed, "over a text. It is bad enough over the phone, but I am not with you in person, so this will 'ave to do."

I heard some whispering and I guessed that Shane was probably telling Alexa what I said. "I'd love to go to dinner with you." I could practically see her smiling.

"Awesome. I will pick you up around, I don't know, seven thirty-ish?"

"Sounds good to me. Do I have to dress up or anything? Because I'm more of a sweatpants kind of girl. But if that's not going to work for where we're going then I guess I could wear something nice." And that would be something else different about her--she's not a fan of wearing dresses and heel. I smiled.

"Nope, you can wear whatever you want. I am not into the 'ole 'looking fancy' thing, either."

"Shane! The cake's black! But when I put it in the oven, it was like, a yellow color. What happened?" I heard Alexa say. Sound to me like you burnt the shit out of it.

"Moron, you burnt it. Take it out and throw it away. I'll be right there," Shane yelled to Alexa. "Sorry, Kris. I have to go, or else my kitchen is going to catch on fire. I'll see you later."

"'ave fun with that. Bye, Shane," I chuckle.

"Bye, Kris," she said, and then the line went dead, telling me she had hang up.

It was currently one thirty-eight, and I had a little bit to wait until I could go pick up Shane, so I figure I would call up some of the guy.

I dialed Max's number first.

"Hello, thank you for calling 1-800-I-know-I'm-Sexy. How may I help you?"

"Sorry, I thought I call 1-800-I'm-A-Douche," I reply.

"Oh, shut the hell up. What're you calling for?"

"You want to come over in a bit with some of the guy? I 'ave got nothing better to do, for a while," I said the last part more to myself than to him.

"For a while? Huh. You know what, Kristopher, I don't even want to know. But yes, I'll be over in twenty minutes just because I love you so much."

"Love you too, Maxime."

"Shut up. You know I hate it when you call me that."

"Which is exactly why I do it."

"I'll see you in a few," he said and we hung up. I scroll down to Flower's number and hit the 'Send' button.

"Bonjour?"

"'ey, some of the guy are coming over, well, just Max so far, but you want to come? I 'ave some time to kill."

"Time to kill, eh? I'll catch a ride with Max. See ya."

"Au revoir."

I called Jordan, TK, Sid, Alex, and Geno. The only guy who couldn't come was Alex. They all got here around the same time and we BS-ed and had a good time. Max felt the need to let everyone know that I was interested in a girl. They, of course, threw question after question at me.

Six thirty start to roll around, and I had to kick some of them out, literally. I got a shower and change into a pair of jeans and t-shirt and grab a hoodie. I looked at the clock and saw that it was already seven fifteen. Yeah, I am cutting it close, but I guess it is a good thing Shane did not live on the other side of the world.

I got to her apartment within ten minute and then sat in my car for another five, trying to calm myself down. It was going to take all I had not to kiss her tonight. I got out and shut my door. Then I walked over to the buzzer.

"Hey. Come on up," I heard her say through the stupid little box. I nervously walked up to her apartment and knock on the door.
