Dead in the Water

Don't Give Up Because I Am Not Giving Up

(Martin's POV)

I heard Amanda's voice calling for me through the void. I searched around in this heavy, thick fog. It was almost like I could feel her near me. Don't stop calling for me.

"Martin." I heard her faintly say again.

"Amanda. Amanda, where are you?" I called out.

"How did you find me?" She asked with a tremble in her voice.

"I heard you. Something told me I should sleep." I said looking around still not able to see Amanda, yet I knew she was here.

"Martin, I'm sorry." Amanda said.

"Don't apologize for anything. Why won't you let me see you?" I asked.

"You don't want to see me because I am no longer the Amanda you know."

"That's nonsense. I want to see you. I have to." I begged.

"I won't let you die for me." She said as I turned around. Still, the fog was heavy and thick in this dream but I felt her near me.

"It's not up to you. You are the slayer and its my job to protect you." I tried to reason.

"You are a valuable member to the team now. You can help them and Erelin. She's the new slayer now."

"Are you telling me that you are giving up?" I asked hurt.

"I can't lose you. It's better this way. I wanted to say good...goodbye." I heard her pause.

"I am not letting you go and I am not going to let Ian kill you either."

"But if you die and I live, how am I going to go on? I know what you are doing. I can't fight any longer, Martin. I don't have enough in me left." She whispered in my ear.

"So you just want to throw our love away. You don't want to fight for it?" I challenged turning around again to not see Amanda.

"Is this what you want to see?" Amanda replied stepping out of the shadows.

I gasped in shock. Amanda was wearing a red dress that revealed all her cuts and bruises on her body. She was so battered and pale. Besides being bruised, her eyes looked worn and tired.

"This is what he has done to me. He even put me in this dress. He's touched me." She said knowing what I was thinking. I watched as she shivered at the thought of him dressing her and it killed me to know that I couldn't save her last night.

I reached for her but she pulled away at first, afraid for me to touch her even though this was a dream. She looked so breakable. I was going to find Ian and rip his throat out for this, provided Amanda can hang on a little longer. If she can hang on then maybe I don't have to give up my life because at this point I feel nothing but rage and I am way beyond ready to take out Ian. He has messed with the wrong guy.

I held my hand out again. She took it and I grabbed her. Her skin felt so cold, yet not as cold as mine. She still had some life left in her. I ran my fingers through her hair and then proceeded to trace and take note of all the damage Ian has done.

Amanda closed her eyes as I got to her neck. It looked disgusting as it was refusing to heal. Ian had bit her hard and left many bruises and marks. This was a game to him and he was enjoying every minute of it. He wants me to suffer.

I leaned down to her neck and kissed it. Amanda opened her eyes and reached for her neck. "Don't." She said as I watched her neck start to change back to normal some.

"You are doing it somehow, even in a dream." Amanda replied. "I can feel it."

"What?" I asked confused.

"You are giving me your strength and it will kill you." She whispered afraid.

"I don't care." I grabbed her tightly, pulling her to me. "You listen and listen well. I have enough strength for the both of us right now. You hang on. I am going to find you. Your friends are out looking for you. Just do this for me. Hang on with everything you have left." I said kissing her forehead and then I kissed her lips.

It was like a spark. As our lips touched and my eyes were closed, I knew where Ian was keeping Amanda. I pulled away and smiled. I didn't have to bite Amanda to know where she was. I haven't been listening closely enough. Our hearts is what pulls us to one another.

"I know now. I can feel you again." I said as she nodded. I kissed her again and again. Each time, her body didn't look as frail and Amanda didn't feel as cold. Amanda seemed to be happier until her body trembled for a moment.

"I'm hanging on but I don't know for how much longer. He's coming back, Martin. I can hear him." Amanda said starting to fade from the dream as a sign she was starting to wake up from her senses alerting her of the danger she is in.

"I'm coming for you soon. Don't give up cause I am not giving up." I said as I couldn't find her hand anymore.

"Martin, I love you."

"I love you too." I said hoping it was enough to keep her alive until I could get to her.

Just like that I was awake. I ran into the room with Pete, Elissa, Nonnie, and Frank. "I know where she is." I yelled grabbing my cell to call Paul.
