Dead in the Water

This Isn't Supposed To Happen

I watched as my sister took off somewhere into the night. I couldn't blame her. Ian is dead. We finally killed him. It took both me and my sister to kill him but in return it cost Martin his life. I understand why Amanda wants to be alone. What I don't understand is her incredible speed and she jumped up here on the roof! Slayers don't have that type of power; only vampires do. Wait, she isn't a vampire either because I would have felt that so Martin didn't turn her when he gave up his energy.

I shrugged it off for now and hopped down off the roof. Suddenly I wasn't feeling good. My whole body ached and I felt a tightness in my chest. My chest ached.

"Elissa, you are ok!" Everyone replied coming near me. I noticed Pete was wincing in pain as he held on to me. Nonnie and Frank were even clutching their chests.

"Elissa, I...I don't feel right." Pete said collapsing.

"Pete!" I yelled as I tried to grab him but it was no use. I started to lose my energy.

"Brendon, what's wrong? Talk to me!" Erelin yelled as I looked over to see him collapse.

Frank and Nonnie were still with me as Joe, Andy, Patrick, Jenny, and Chrissy huddled around us. "What is going on? Why do I feel...?" Nonnie then collapsed.

"Elissa what happened up there? Where is Amanda?" Andy asked me. I just stared at him for a second.

"I...I don't know." I grabbed my chest again. "She just took off. Martin is dead. Why do I hurt?" I asked as I almost collapsed.

"Elissa!" Joe responded surprised as he held me.

"Nonnie, babe, wake up!" Frank yelled as he held Nonnie on the ground. Then, I watched him clutch his chest one last time and slump over her.

"No." I whispered as I looked around.

"Elissa, focus. What did Ian do to you?" Patrick asked.

"Nothing. He didn't do anything. Patrick, I think...I think I'm dying. This isn't supposed to happen is it?" I replied as I collapsed into Joe's arms.
