Dead in the Water

Helpless

“Amanda, help is here. Hold on, please.” I said as I watched two EMT workers climb out of an ambulance.

“What happened?” One of the EMT workers asked me.

“I don’t know. She was attacked as we were walking.” I lied as the EMTS lifted Amanda onto a stretcher and placed her in the truck. I also worked my magic to where the workers would not ask any more questions unless it pertained to Amanda’s well-being.

“Her pulse is faint and her breathing is shallow. She’s lost a lot of blood.” The worker replied putting an oxygen mask on Amanda as I climbed in the vehicle.

We arrived at the hospital and they wheeled Amanda into the ER trauma room. I tried to go in but two nurses stopped me. “Miss you can’t go in there. Let the doctors do their job.” They said.

“You will let me in to see my sister.” I said and the nurses backed off. “By the way call Adam Siska. He works in your morgue.” I said running into my sister’s room.

“Hey, you can’t…” A doctor started to say.

“That is my sister and I am not going anywhere.” I replied.

“She can be in here.” The doctor said to everyone working on helping Amanda. That power of persuasion thing really does work. I have never had to use it that often and I hope I never have to again.

“Elissa, I came as fast as I could.” Sisky said emerging in the room. I just held onto him and started crying.

“Hey, it’s ok. Amanda is a fighter. She is going to be all right. What happened?” He asked as I glanced at Amanda. They had her hooked up to oxygen, IV’s and blood for a transfusion among other things. I had told the EMT in the truck that she was O positive. She was so pale.

I pulled him out of the room and in a whisper said, “Amanda, Erelin, and me went out slaying and Beckett showed up. We were outnumbered. I told Brendon to take Erelin away so that she would be safe. He showed up. Beckett somehow put Amanda into a trance, and he said he wanted to make her die slowly. He drained her. She is barely hanging on. I can’t lose my sister.”

“We aren’t going to lose Amanda. Have you called everyone else?” He asked me.

“No.” I said.

“I will stay with Amanda. Go call them. We have the best doctors here.” Sisky said trying to make me feel better.

I walked out to the lobby and started to call everyone. They all said that they were on their way to the hospital. All of a sudden, I had the worst feeling in the pit of my stomach and I dropped my phone, running as fast as I could to the room my sister was at.
