Cemetary Gates

A Little Piece of Heaven

(Analeigh)

“Brian he’s gone!” I cried as I threw my arms around him

“Shh Ana. Who is gone? Tell me.” He cooed as he rubbed my back. I know Zacky would be pissed at me for being so sad but I couldn’t help it. It was like Zacky not being there was hurting me. It actually caused me physical pain, I don’t know why but without him I feel empty, and that emptiness turns to pain when I cry.

“Zacky, he’s gone!” I cried.

“Honey, he’s been gone for just about two months.” I contemplated telling him. It would make no sense to lie, Zacky had already moved on.

“No he wasn’t…” I murmured and he looked into my eyes.

“What are you saying?” He asked with a serious face.

“He’s been here. He never left, he couldn’t. There was always something stopping him from moving on. So I helped him make amends with all the people he’s hurt in his life. If you thought you saw him the other night, it was because you did. And now he’s moved on, and I miss him so much...” I said and I watched as Brian’s chocolate eyes turned to glass.

“Shh, baby everything will be alright. At least he's happy.” He said holding me closely, I felt safe and secure in his arms, like the pain couldn’t reach me. He gently kissed my hair, and I closed my eyes.

“I know it will Bri. It has to be…”

(Zacky PoV)

As I walked into the white light, I felt like I left earth. I was in a peaceful meadow with the greenest of hills and the bluest of skies in the horizon. Below my feet was a field of gold that seemed to stretch on forever. I was standing before a large tree, like it was the tree of life in Eden. As I looked behind me I saw the past. I could see my home, my town, my previous life. But when I looked ahead, all I saw was these endless golden fields. A gentle breeze blew and I heard someone running towards me. I looked to see a little girl with pigtails in a small dress carrying a teddy bear. She was so adorable.

“Hi!” She chirped and I kneeled down to look at her.

“Hey. What’s your name?”

“My name is Kayla! Who are you mister?” She asked, her giant brown eyes peering at me curiously.

“I’m Zacky.” I laughed and she blushed.

“Well come on mister Zacky we got to go!” She said giggling, and grabbing my hand. She walked me into the infinite fields where other children played.

“Where are you taking me? What is this?” I asked motioning to what was around me.

“Well silly you’re in heaven, and this is just the beginning! This is where all of the new people come to until they find a heaven of their own.” She said in a small voice that seemed to echo.

“So are you some kind of angel?”

“Yes! We all are, even you! But you have to go see the big guy to get your wings!” She said giggling. I couldn’t help but smile, she was so cute.

“I do huh?” I laughed. She swung my hand as she toddled around next to me, and a wind blew that seemed to bend the sounds in the air.

“Go on Zacky! He’s calling you!” She said letting go and stopping. I looked down and she grinned at me. I smiled back and I walked forwards until I came to a white setting. All I could see was the blue sky, but it was like I was walking on clouds. I turned back and I didn’t see the golden fields anymore.

“Come my child.” I heard a voice carried by a strong wind, and before my eyes appeared an old man. He had a grey beard with grey hair, but he was in the whitest of robes. His eyes held a continuous peaceful sparkle. I think this was him…

“Zachary.” He said holding out his arms to me.

“Do you know who I am?” He asked with a knowing smile.

“Uhh, I'm guessing you’re the big guy.” I smirked and his hearty laughter filled the space.

“Yes, you could say that. But I am God, child.” He said to me. He looked in a downwards direction and I saw a scene that seemed to play in the clouds. I looked to see a girl crying in someone’s arms.

“Do you know her Zack?” He asked me and it became clearer.

“Ana…” I murmured.

“Yes, very good. Do you know why I am showing you this?” He asked me and I looked up at him before I looked back down at her. I could feel her pain; I could feel the tears leaving her eyes. I looked back up at God.

“No…”

“Well Zach. You two were technically meant to be, but with the tragedy that occurred you could only be her guide in spirit. So I made you her guardian angel. Ana already had the power to see the other side, but she noticed you without even trying.”

“So does that mean I get wings?” I asked curiously and he laughed.

“I’ll get to that.”

“When you made your amends…you didn’t need to do that to get here.” He said and my eyes widened.

“W-what?” I stammered.

“I called you when I did so I could give you this knowledge. It’s time you moved on. When you finish your deeds on earth, you will come back to me….now you get your wings.” He laughed and held his hands out to me, and I felt a cool sensation on my back. I could feel as heavenly wings sprouted from my back. They were a pristine white color, and I found I had control over them. It was so weird, being able to control each individual wing. The thought made me laugh.

“When the time is right…I’ll send you down.” He said his final words before he disappeared from before me and the clouds began to dissipate. I fell through the floor back first and I landed in the golden fields once more.

I opened my eyes to see people hovering over me and I got a little confused. I saw Kayla, and a bunch of girls and one boy I didn’t know.

“You think he’s okay?” I heard them murmur and I sat up rubbing my head.

“Mister Zacky, are you okay?” Kayla asked, looking sad if I wasn’t.

“Yeah…I think so.” I said getting up and dusting golden grains off of my pants.

“You just fell down from the sky! Did you see Him?!” One other little girl asked me.

“Yeah. I got these.” I said moving my new wings I never thought this existed. I’d always thought it was just too far fetched to be real. It was such a rude awakening now that I think about it.

“Ooh, you’re special!” One said and I laughed. These kids were so innocent and carefree.

“You’re cute Mister.” One little girl giggled and I couldn’t help but laugh and blush a tinge of pink cause I didn’t even expect that.

“Well thank you. So are you.” She blushed a shade of red and I smiled even brighter. Being here truly made me feel at ease, like I had met my release. But something was still tugging at my soul…That vision He showed me. It wasn’t right, it made me unsettled. I wanted to know what brought her to such tears, I wanted to know when. But all I could do was wait here.

“Come on mister Zacky! Heaven awaits!” Kayla shouted grabbing my hand. I sighed as I looked into the endless horizon.

“Yeah…My little piece of heaven.”
