When I Turned the Television On

That Unpleasant Feeling of Nervousness.

When I Turned The Television On.

| Alice Midorikawa |

"Alice, are you okay? Are you feeling well now?"
"Yes, Renn. I'm fine."
"I was so worried about you! I called yesterday, but your mom answered. She said you went somewhere. Where did you go?"

Flashbacks enter my mind.

I ran away from home.
I sat on a bench and cried.
And...
Aiden saved me.

I smile just thinking about his friendliness.

"Uh, Alice? You have a funny aura right now. I can feel it."

Renn waves her hand in front of my face and I snap back to my senses.

Shall I tell her about Seth Paver?
Hmm.
Maybe not.

"I went to the candy shop. I needed to eat something sweet, you know?"

Renn looks away then shakes her head in disappointment.

"That was the lamest excuse I've ever heard from you, Alice."
"...I know."

We both walk to our classroom in silence.
We enter the room and stare at our classmates.

They were all huddled in every corner, quietly talking about something.

And it was suspiciously intriguing inside.

Renn and I look at each other and shrug.
We head to our seats when Sir Harvey, our teacher-in-charge, comes in.

"Okay, class! Please sit down. I have a very, very great announcement to make."

Everyone obediently goes back to their seats.

"We have another new student! I know that you people are of course, very familiar with him."

There goes again with the hushed whispers.

"Quiet, please. As you all know, he's indeed very famous. So please, please please be friendly and accommodating towards him. Understand?"

"Yes, sir."

I pause for a moment.
I think I know this guy.

I suddenly feel a familiar, tight rope twist inside my stomach.

"Please welcome, Se--"

The door suddenly slides open, cutting Sir Harvey off.
