When I Turned the Television On

Desperate Fear

When I Turned The Television On.

| Nathaniel Sebastian Van Allen |

I arrive at Alice's house on time again.

As I enter the driveway, Seth appears by the doorway, his fingers massaging his temples.
He walks down the steps, his face in a frown.
He enters the car and starts complaining.

"My head hurts like hell, goddammit! Stupid, stupid wine..."

I gulp in anxiety and ask him a question.

"Seth... do you... remember what happened yesterday?"

I cross my fingers and bite my lips.

Oh God.
I hope he doesn't remember the kiss!

"I... only remembered the time when I was drinking in the bar..."
"Ah, really--"
"...AND!"

I jump at Seth's sudden 'and' then close my eyes.

SHITSHITSHITSHITSHIT!!

"And... the people. They were staring at me."

He scratches his head and faces me confusingly.
I force a smile and ask him another question.

"Uh... that's it?"

Seth strains to remember scenes of yesterday but fails.

"I guess so. That's all I remember. Why? Were there more stuff that happened last night?"

I flush slightly and turn away.

"N-No, I don't think so. Nothing else."

Seth narrows his eyes suspiciously at me.

"Hm? It seems that you're hiding something from me. Spit it out, Nathan."
"Of course not! I just dragged you inside the car, that's all. You were really drunk that time."

Yeah, so drunk that you kissed me on the lips.

He is about to say something, but decides to keep it to himself.
I turn on the engine and drive.

Thank God that's all he remembers.
