Long Journey Ahead

August 12, 2001

It's been about a good month since I met Zacky.
We have been getting along great. He is a total
sweetheart and a great friend. We played together
everyday during the rest of this summer, but now
that time is over. Today is our first day of school.
Yeah we start early, it sucks. Ugggggggh. God,
I seriously hated school so much. I was so afraid
that I wouldn't fit in,or get along with his friends,
but Zacky comforted me and told me it would be
okay. I think I'm falling for him. I know I'm just a
little girl starting 6th grade, but it could be possible.
And maybe, just maybe he would like me back.

Our parents actually met already and they seem to
get along very well too, which is a good thing. The
plan for today is that Zacky's mom is gonna take us
to school.....including my stupid sister. *huffs* I bet
she's just gonna ruin everything for me. She always
does.

So Zacky's mom pulled up and I gave her a warm smile.

"Hello Katy and Taylor, how are you?"
My sister did a weird wave and I just rolled my eyes,
causing Zacky to chuckle.

At least I can make him
laugh.

"We're good." We got in the car.

It was of course a small car, so I kinda had to
squeeze next to Zacky, which, I really didn't mind.
I loved being this close to him, and he smelled
great, too. lol. Thinking of all this, I started to
blush and my sister gave me a mischevious
smile. Oh God.

"Awwww Katy's got a little crush on
Zacky here. That's so adorable".

If looks could kill,
She would seriously be dead right now.

"Do not" I
said trying to avoid contact with anyone.

"Sure you
don't". I just ignored her. The whole ride was pretty
much quiet.....and also very akward.

We pulled up to the school and that was quite a
relief. My sister was in 7th grade, while me and
Zacky were in the 6th. I just really hope his friends
like me. Better yet, I hope Zacky would feel the same
about me. It was kinda akward just walking alone by
Zacky myself.

"So..." he started.

"You'll get to meet
my amazing friends" I smiled a bit.

"I hope they like
me Zacky. You know I'm not good with first meetings,
or first impressions". He chuckled then.

"You won't have
to impress my friends. Just be yourself and they'll like
you the way you are." I gave a nervous laugh as he led
me to the cafeteria. That's where they always met for
breakfast.

"Heyyyy" Zacky said to everyone that was at the table
that we walked toward.

"Everyone, this is Katy. She just
moved out here a month ago. She's my next door neighbor."

Everyonejust smiled at me. "Nice
to meet you." Some guy who had small, hazel
eyes, and dimples that poked out when he smiled,
said that to me.

"My name's Matt. Glad to have you here"
I just smiled.

"You too."

Then, a guy with dark hair and
chocolate eyes decided to greet me.

"Brian. Nice to meet
you Katy" he then gave me a wink. Was he trying to flirt.

"Um..
you too Brian." Zacky chuckled lightly, because he knew I felt
a little embarassed.

"Heyyy yoooo. How zit goin Katy boo?"
I couldn't help to laugh.

"Da name is Jimmyyyy!!" I just laughed
even harder.

"Way to make an enterance Jimmy. Nice to meet
you" Zacky smiled at me and just laughed along Jimmy's insanity.
Zacky's good looking himself, but man, so are his friends.

I was really gonna like it here. I just knew I would get along with
the guys great. At least I would have some friends.....good
looking ones at that.

Breakfast was over, and I couldn't wait until I got to class and to
meet some new people. Although, I'm shy, for some reason I was
now pumped to meet other students. Zacky led me to the office
and got my schedule.

Brinkley-Social Studies
lunch
Ballew-Science
Owen-Math

I was happy with my schedule, as I compared
with Zacky's. I at least had one class with
each of the boys. I knew I was gonna feel safe.
I was so grateful for that. Me and Zacky skipped
to class and I was greeted by Jimmy again.

"Hey now....Good lookin new girl walkin into
the classroom!!" I felt everyone in the room's
gaze on my, and I couldn't help, but blush.

"Mr. Walker, This is Katy Hiner. She just moved
here and-"

"Just sit down Zacky. I already know
about Mrs. Hiner."

Okay, maybe I wasn't gonna
like all of my classes. This Mr. Walker didn't
seem like a nice guy. Well, maybe he just
didn't like Zacky. But that's practically insane.
Who wouldn't like Zacky? He's charming,
handsome, friendly, talen-

"Don't just
stand there. Take a seat Mrs. Hiner."
Mr. Walker rudely interupted my thoughts.

I took my seat. I just couldn't wait until that
class ended. I certainly got my wish and rushed
out of the door with Jimmy and Zacky behind me.

The rest of my day was great. All of the other
teachers were actually really nice. The only
thing I'm gonna hate about this school is
Mr. Walker. I've never met someone so rude
in my life. Well, scratch that. Anyone, besides
my sister.

We rode the bus home and I sat with Zacky. None
of his-I mean our, friends rode the bus, which sucked.
My sister was being really annoying and making kissy
faces and all that. I wish I could just punch her in the
face. Gosh. At least Zacky wasn't paying attention to
her and on my jokes.

I knew everything was gonna be fine....At least for now.
