“I'm not sure this is a good idea.” Spoke Vada, for the first time in nearly an hour.

“Why is that?” Asked Damon, really not caring for any answer she was going to give him.

“My brother is in the hospital, no one really told me if he was going to be alright, there is a homicidal vampire bent on draining me of every last drop of my blood, and I forgot to feed my hamster.” She said, crossing her arms over her chest and feeling rather proud of herself.

“You don't have a hamster.”

“How do you-”

“Isn't it obvious?” He smirked, taking his eyes off the road to look at her, “I stalk you.”

“I wouldn't put it past you.” She mumbled, then added for good measure, “Creep.”

It only took a solid five more minutes of grumbling and complaining and Vada was out cold her head lolled to the side and her mouth wide open emitting booming snores.

“Has anyone seen Damon or Vada?” Asked Bonnie, a light pressure settling in over her brain.

“Probably training.” Said Elena, flipping through one of Stefan's old diaries.

“I'm not so sure about that.” Bonnie said, her eyes squinting in concentration, trying to pin down the feeling of unease.

Elena picked up on the weariness in her voice and closed the worn out book, giving Bonnie her full attention.

“Something bad is about to happen.” Bonnie said ominously.

Just as the words left her mouth Stefan ran through the door to the parlor a scared and panicked look in his eyes.

“She's here and she wants Vada.”

“Damon, this is really not necessary!”

“Oh, I assure you it is. This is a well kept boy scout secret and I can't let you know how to get here until you've proven that you're worthy.”

Damon led a blinded Vada through fallen and dead foliage and over tree stumps and broken branches, through a winding path until the distinct sound of flowing water was heard.

“Okay, you can take your blind fold off now.” He told her a smirk playing on his lips as he looked down at the girl who could really never seem to leave his thoughts.

“You do know I could have used even a miniscule amount of magic to fling you against a tree, taken this stupid thing off and stolen your car?” She said, pulling the scarf from around her eyes.

“So why didn't you?”

She seemed taken aback by this question. Why hadn't she?

“I guess because I wanted you to have your fun.” She smiled rather sheepishly and he frowned.

No one had ever done something purely for his benefit before.

“Well, let the fun be had.” He drawled, gesturing to a break in the trees where a rather small waterfall was placed letting crystal clear water flow into a wide set river.

“Really?” She smirked.

This wasn't quite the reaction Damon had been hoping for. He was thinking more along the lines of, 'oh WOW Damon this is so gorgeous, just like your body! Ever had wild sex on a bed of leaves?'

“I never pegged you to be so fucking cliche!” She let out a rather girlish laugh.

Nope, Damon thought, definitely not the reaction he was looking for. He felt rather disappointed.

“Common, Captain! Lets go swimming.” She ran though the break in the tree taking off her shirt and sweatpants and she went.

Now, Damon was never one to be shy around a girl, at least not for the last hundred year, but in all those years he had never really come across a creature like Vada. So, Vada found it really out of character when Damon looked away as she got in the water.

He did not however, find the need to be modest about his rather toned body.

“Holy abs! Training has done wonders for you Teach, huh?” Vada teased, splashing some water at him.

This continued for a while until Damon really looked at Vada. Into her eyes, and wondered how life was before he met her. He couldn't remember really.

“Vada.” His voice was deep and worrisome, she sensed that instantly.

“Damon?”

He swam close to her and she stayed perfectly still, waiting for him to play some trick on her and telling her that the enemy, no matter how good looking is still the enemy.

“Damon.” She said, although this time it was not a question it was a statement as he buried his head in the crook of her neck. His breath slithered over her shoulder and she shuddered.

His hands rested on her exposed hips and his fingered traced the outline of the letter 'D' on her skin. She could have sworn it burned her skin and that now she was ruined for all other men.

She nearly slumped unconscious in the water when his lips started to move idly over her skin, coming to hover about her own, teasing her and touching lightly.

Finally, she could hardly take it anymore and connected their lips in a kiss that exposed their true feeling and all the pent up emotion and frustration that built up from weeks of closely training but never anything more.

It was the perfect way to say goodbye.
