Love Will Keep You Up All Night

Sidney felt so much better now that he knew that Taylor felt the same way about him. After they talked in the parking lot he drove her home and stayed for dinner. He didn’t stay as late as he wanted to because he actually had to go back up to Pittsburgh for a game on Saturday. He really didn’t want to leave, not after finally getting to talk to her and see her again.

They hadn’t touched at all the entire time they were in the house. So when she walked him to the car he was a bit surprised that she grabbed his hand.

“I don’t want you to leave so soon.” She whispered

“I know and I don’t want to leave either, but I have a game. I promise I will call you and text you and all that, now that we are finally talking again.” He brushed a light kiss on her cheek. “I’m really glad that we are talking again, I seriously was going crazy thinking about you.”

“Me too, I think I was driving my friends even more crazy because I would call them and just vent.”

Sidney sighed, “I’m really sorry.”

“For what? Not calling? Sid, even if you did call I wasn’t going to answer it. I didn’t want to hear from you.”

“Really? Even if I called like every two hours you still wouldn’t pick up?”

“Well I might have eventually because you would have officially put me over the edge and I would have had to talk to you.” She smiled

“God, I seriously cannot believe that you felt the same things that I did.” He pulled her into a hug.

She didn’t respond at first, but them she wrapped her arms around Sidney’s waist. “Me too.” She pulled away and looked at him. “Tell me the truth. Is it really weird that I’m not even eighteen? I will be in about a week, so technically this is illegal for another week.”

“Yeah it freaks me out a bit, but we won’t take it fast. We’ll take it slow, start off as really good friends and then go from there.”

“Okay, I guess that would work.”

“It’s going to have to.” He kissed her and she kissed him back. “I really have to go, my flight leaves in a few hours.”

She let out a small sigh. “Okay, but you have to call me when you land. I don’t care how late it is. If I don’t answer then leave a message and I’ll try to call you before school.”

“Okay I will.” He pulled open his door. “I’ll talk to you later Taylor.”

“Bye Sidney.”

“Bye.”

Sidney watched Taylor waving in the rearview mirror as he drove off.

After I couldn’t see Sidney’s car anymore I went back into the house. Mom was sitting on the couch and looked at me as I walked in.

“You look like yourself again. Why is that?” She asked

“Because I got to talk to Sidney again.” I looked at my mom. “Mom, I’m sorry if I worried you these past few days. I just haven’t been myself and I brought it all upon myself.”

“Why?”

“Because I had…have feelings for Sidney and I thought that it wasn’t right. So I decided not to think about him or talk to him hoping that would help me get over him.”

“It just made it worse didn’t it?”

I nodded. “Mom, I think I really like him and I know I really shouldn’t because he’s famous and I’m so not, and he’s four and half years older than me.”

“Taylor, you can’t stop your heart from reacting to someone. So if not talking to him made it worse than why did you keep doing it?”

“Because I would be torturing myself talking to him, knowing that I couldn’t be anything more than friends with him.”

“So why are you so happy now?” She already figured it out, I knew my mom and mom knew me.

“Because I finally got to talk to him and I realized that I really missed talking to him.” I tried out that half lie.

“Taylor…”

“Ugh, fine. He feels the same way about me, apparently I wasn’t the only one trying to forget the other person.”

“Didn’t you just say that there are a lot of difficulties with being with him?”

“Well, we aren’t going out. We’re just friends right now. Who knows though? Maybe in the future we will be together.”

“Well, I hope you don’t get hurt Taylor. I don’t think I go through that little funk again.”

“Sorry mom and don’t worry I can take care of myself.”

“I know, baby. Do you have homework?”

I sighed. “Yeah, I should probably go do that.”

“Yeah.”

I went into my room and started my homework. I found myself glancing at my poster and smiling. That was the first time in a while that I looked at it without getting really pissed or crying. I was so bored doing my government homework, so I pulled out my phone and texted Katie.

Hey! What r u doin?

Psyc hw. U?

Fun

Lol, not.

It was a bit before she responded.

How are you doing?

I couldn’t help but smiling, Katie was so worried about me. I had to tell her.

Huh? But didn’t u talk to Sidney?

Yep.

And?

WE R GOING OUT!! XD XD

UR WHAT?!

Sidney and I are going out. He was going just as crazy as I was. He feels the same way 2. About everything...even the things that I was worried about.

Wow, that’s soo cool.

I know, it feels good to be back.

I’m glad.

Alright and u 2

I finished my Government homework and checked to see if I had anymore. I when I didn’t find any, I slipped into my pajamas and laid in bed. It was nearly eleven and I was wired. I couldn’t go to sleep, but as I laid there waiting for my phone to ring I fell asleep thinking about Sidney Crosby.

As Sidney sat on the plane to Pittsburgh he couldn’t help but smile. He had finally talked to Taylor and he couldn’t be happier. He found out that she felt the same way and that she worried about the same things and to tell you the truth, he didn’t give a shit if she wasn’t going to be eighteen for another week. They could keep everything on the down low, as long as she didn’t hang out with him too much in some places.

When the plane landed in Pittsburgh, Sidney turned on his phone and dialed Taylor’s number. It went to voicemail, which kind of surprised him it was only a little after midnight.

“Hey Taylor, I just landed. I’m guessing you are already asleep. I’ll talk to you tomorrow.”

Sidney walked out into the crisp spring night and walked to his Range Rover. It felt nice to be home even though he was only gone for a day. The drive to the Lemieux house was a long quiet one. It was after one by the time he walked into his room. They had practice in the morning and he was actually ready for it.

He woke up the next morning to his pillow buzzing, he had fallen asleep with his phone under his pillow. He groaned at pulled in out from under his head.

“Hello?”

“Crosby, are you back yet?” it was Marc-Andre

“Yeah Flower, I got in last night. What’s up?”

“Nothing Jordan wanted to make sure that you were going to be a practice today.”

“Yeah I’ll be there.” There was a little pause.

“How are you doing?” his friend asked him

“Actually a lot better. I went to see her yesterday.”

“Who?”

“Taylor.” Sidney said a bit shy.

“You like her?” Fleury asked

“I do, you couldn’t tell at the game last week.”

“Oh I could tell, I think we all could. You made it even more obvious when you scored that last goal.”

“Shit is anyone ever going to forget that?”

“I don’t think so buddy.”

“Great.” He groaned.

“Chill, it seemed like she liked you too. When there was no one down near me I found here staring at you with the biggest smile on her face.”

“Really?"

“Yes really. I could also tell that you were so upset that she didn’t come see you after the game. I also saw it effect the way you played. You were distracted. I think that’s why coach let you go.”

“That’s what I thought.” He sighed and sat up. “Flower, we’re going out.”

“Where are we going?” He laughed

“Dumb ass that’s not what I’m talking about.”

“I know, man. I’m glad you have finally decided to go after her. Well I have to go, I’ll see you at practice.”

“All right see yeah, man.”

When I woke the first thing I did was check my phone. Yay, there was a message. I quickly called my mailbox and listened to his voice. He apparently found it amusing that I was asleep when he called. I listened to hear if the shower was still running, it was. That gave me some time to call Sidney. I sat up slightly and dialed him number, but it went to voicemail. Poo, he must still be asleep.

“Good morning, Sidney. I got your message and now I am calling you back.” I rolled my eyes at how lame that sounded. “I guess you’re still sleeping or something. When you get time text me and if you get this before ten after seven then call me back. Bye.”

I was a little disappointed that I didn’t actually get to talk to him, but I did get to hear his voice. So that was going to have to do. I just wanted to hear back from him. With a smile on my face, I started getting ready for school.
