Chapter 5
I walked out of school and looked around. The bus had already left, and I was not going to ride home with Wyatt. I sighed and started on my hour walk home. I took out my I-pod and flipped to a fast pace song to try and make myself move faster.
I didn’t get very far when I sensed some one was following me. I turned my head and saw it was a car I didn’t recognize so I picked up my pace, and so did the car. I broke out into a run and the car honked its horn, and the driver leaned out the window.
“Brair!! Brair, its me Chet!!” Chet yelled, and pulled up next to me. I was leaning over with my hands on my knees panting. I looked over at him with a glare.
“That was not funny.” I said and he laughed.
“I didn’t mean to scare you. I was just going to ask if you wanted a ride home. I mean I’m going over to your house anyways, and it’s the middle of winter right now.” he said and I nodded. I walked over to the passenger side and slipped in.
“It’s nice and warm in here.” I said and put my hands in front of the air vents. I put on my seat belt, and then Chet started driving.
“Do how come you’re walking home?” he asked me after a few minutes.
“Well I missed my bus, and I wasn’t going to ride home with Wyatt.” I said with a growl and looked out the window.
“Chill out chica, it’s just a question, and I thought that you were best friends with that Wyatt kid?” he said and looked at me.
“Well I was until he got a boy, I mean girlfriend.” I said and cursed myself out. Even though we aren’t friends I still keep my promises, no matter what.
“That sucks. No one should stop being friends with someone just because they found their significant other.” he said an I smiled.
“Wow Chet that’s a big word for you.” I said and he playfully punched me. I laughed and then noticed we were at my house. I undid my seat belt and went to get out.
“Thanks for the ride Chet. It was very nice of you.” I said and was almost all the way out of the car when he pulled me back in.
“What is it?” I asked him and he smiled.
“I’ve been waiting to do this for a long time.” he said right before he pressed his lips to mine. I smiled into the kiss, and kissed him back. He wrapped his arms around my waist and lifted me up onto his lap. I giggled and linked my fingers in his hair. I was about to open my mouth when there was a knock on the window and it made me hit my head on the ceiling.
I looked over at the window, saw who it was, and then looked back at Chet with worried eyes. He looked just as worried, but rolled down the window none the less.
“Seriously dude? My baby sister of all people.” Landon yelled and I quickly moved over to my own seat. I looked back over at Landon and glared.
“I’m not little I’m 16.” I said and he laughed.
“Big whoop! 16, such a great age. You know every thing right sis?” he snapped and I wiped away my tear quickly.
“I didn’t say I knew everything now did I Land?” I said and scrambled out of the car.
“No, but you sure as hell have been acting like it. Right after you meet that Wyatt kid, you aren’t the same little sister that I used to know!” he yelled at me and I gave up with not letting them see my tears.
“You’re just mad because I made a friend, and stopped keeping everything to myself. You’re mad because I was no longer miserable and I had a friend that I could talk to. And congratulations I no longer have that friend, so your wish came true. I hope you’re happy, and way to make your little sister feel like crap and a whore all in one day.” I yelled and ran up to my room.
I slammed my door behind me, and locked it to make sure no one would be able to come in. I went over to my piano and grabbed a piece of paper and pencil and started writing the lyrics to my song for the contest. Three hours later this is what I had come up with:

I sighed and put it on the music stand connected to my piano, and started on the musical arrangement. I finished the piano part about 4 hours later and there was a knock on my door. I got up and walked over to the door and opened it. I opened it and there stood Chet. I moved to the side and closed the door behind him.
“you know your brother doesn’t mean what he said right?” he said and I nodded.
“I know, but it still hurt.” I said and sat down on my bed. He sat down beside me and sighed.
“I know. He bitched me out after too, but finally agreed to let me take you out on a date.” he said and I smiled.
“Really?”
“Mhm. So how about Friday night?” he asked me and I nodded.
“Why me?” I asked him and he laughed.
“Brair I’ve liked you ever since I’ve laid eyes on you. You don’t care what other people think of you, and you don’t dress like a slut to try and catch a guys eye.” he said and grabbed my face in his hands and kissed me. I pulled away a few seconds later and smiled.
“Don’t expect that to change.” I said and he laughed.
“Don’t worry. I wont.” he said and then kissed me.
