Regrets & Romance

"Uh, Corinne, you need to get up." I heard as I slowly woke up. Wow, I actually fell asleep last night. First time in a week. I opened my eyes and saw a man standing next to my bed. He has hazel-green eyes like mine. I nodded and he gave a weak, shy smile and went back to his bed. I rubbed my eyes and ran my palms through my blackened hair.

"I'm Gerard." the man said out of the blue.

I looked over to him, and my new room mate, Gerard, was staring at me.

"I'm Corinne."

"Yeah, they told me last night.

I nodded and sighed.

"They told me you don't talk very much."

I nodded again. "I don't like anybody here."

"Oh." he said simply. "They just, not friendly?" he asked.

I nodded for what seemed like the hundreth time in that short amout of time.

"Well, I'm friendly. How about you and I be...friends?"

"Maybe."

"Okay."

I'm not to sure about Gerard. I don't want to make new a new friend and then have him betray me like all the others did.

"Do you want to go and get some breakfast?" he asked.

"Time?"

"Almost 9am."

My stomach growled.

"I'll take that as a, 'Why yes Gerard, I would love something to eat'." he said.

I laughed.

He made me laugh.
