Broken Down on Memory Lane Alone, Together Alone

It just wasnt the right time

Finally, three hours of english was over with. I happily sighed as I packed up my note book and other things. I loved english, but the professer was just so damn boring. The way she just drowned on about everything in this monotone bored way, it almost put me to sleep every class.

I zipped up my black leather jacket, and threw my old purse over my shoulder. I waved good bye to a couple of girls I had made friends with before I left. We werent really close, but it was nice to have someone to talk to in class. They seemed nice enough, enjoyed alot of the same movies as I did.

When I exited the building I was surprised to see Dravin waiting there for me, and even more so to see that he had a bright yellow cab there waiting with him. I sent him a questioning glance.

He sent me that smile that made my knees week, scar curving up to look like a dimple, "We've been going steady for a few months now, and I felt like it was time to introduce you to some people who are very important to me."

I giggled, "okay... sounds good."

I was a little confused, but I had learned that Dravin liked to keep things interesting and surprise me with dates and things constantly. It certanly kept things from getting dull. Even if he was working with a colledge srudent budget, he some how managed to get me little gifts now and again. Just to see me smile. It was unnessicary, but I wasnt complaining. As far as I was conserned I had struck gold with my first boyfriend.

I climbed into the car and sat my bag on my lap, Dravin got in behind me and shut the door. Without a word the cabby put the car in drive and sped off. I could only assume that Dravin already told him where to go, for the sake of surprising me. I really wasnt sure who we were going to go see. My best guess was family.

We talked about our day, and I found out that it was an hour and a half drive to where we were going. I didnt really mind though. More time to just talk and stare at Dravin. I couldnt help myself. He really was perfet in my eyes, and I accepted his few flaws. It was safe to say I was past smitten, I was in love. Head over heals. Neither of us had said it yet though. And I wasnt going to be the first to say it. I was afraid he might not feel the same yet... or ever. I wasnt going to put myself out there and risk getting hurt.

After what felt like forever, we finally pulled into the drive way of a medium sized house. There was a large tree in the front yard, and a well kept hedge. The winter frost had nipped away all the colour from the trees and small flower bed in front of the house. There was a light dusting of snow on the ground, that sparkled in the portch light. The sun had set by the time we arrived.

Dravin paid the cabbie, then took my hand, "ready, luv?"

"I certanly hope so," I smiled, stood on my toes and pecked him on the cheek.

He lead me to the portch and up the stairs. Didnt bother with knocking, he just opened the door and walked in. The smell of rosted chicken and potatoes drifted through my nose, and my stomach let out a small grawl. Heat rose to my cheeks in slight embarassment, as we took off our shoes.

"Dravin, honey!" A short plump blond woman rushed into the kitchen, arms wide open, "you're just in time."

"Hay mama," he smiled as he warmly wrapped his arms around her and squeezed, "it smells wonderful."

"She made your favorite," a deep voice called, a man as tall as Dravin walked into the room. I could see where he got his looks from now. He was a handsome man, blue eyes with flattering glasses, well dressed, dark hair with the slightest bit of gray, that only made him look all that more distinguished, and a well kept moustache, "So this must be miss Rainn?"

Dravin looked back at me, he was just beeming with pride. He stepped back and put an arm around my waste and pulled me close to him, "yes it is."

His mother gave me the once over, smile never leaving her face. She seemed to nod once in approval, "vary nice to finally get to meet you. Dravin's told us so much about you, I feel as though I alreay know you." She chuckled as she pulled me into a hug.

I was a little stunned, but I returned it. I didnt want to offend her, or make a bad impression, "its nice to meet you too."

"Well come on in here and sit down you two," his father smiled and jestured to the dining table at the other side of the kitchen, "Barbara and I were about to put supper on the table."

"Oh right!" Barbara said as she hurried over to the ovin, putting on oven mits as she went, "almost forgot."

Dravin and I walked over to the table and took our seats beside eachother next to the wall. He smiled and gave me a quick kiss on the cheek, as if to say 'surprise'. I smiled back, then turned my attention back to his parents. His father was carving the chicken and placing the meet on to a plate, and his mother was getting the vegetables all ready and putting them into bowls.

"Loralie isnt here?" Dravin asked as he peered into the next room, the living room.

"No, she said not to expect her home tonight," his father said, displeasure clearly heard in his tone. Barbara just shook her head and mutter under he breath.

Dravin seemed to sense not to keep on with that topic, and chanced it to what he was doing in school. They seemed much happier with that topic. They brought over the food and we were told to help ourselves. It all smelled like heaven, and I was very hungry, so they didnt have to tell me twice. Though I was still respectiful and polite. If ever there was a time to act like a lady, this was definetly it for me.

We talked about a little of everything as we ate. I learned more about Dravins father, Gordan, job as a local news camera man. And I learned that his mother loved crafting, and I was going to be shown some things after dinner. They both seemed like very loving supporting people, they reminded me of my father in that sense. They seemed to take a liking to me, which I was beyond happy about. Nothing would have been worse then his pairents dissaproving of me.

We finished supper, and Barbara started to plate dessert. Chocolate cake she had baked earlier that day. It looked wonderful to say the least. Gordan was asking about what my father did, when we heard a low engin growl. And lights flashed in through the windows as a car pulled into the drive way.

We were all silent, and watched the door. Two doors opened and shut, and giggles could be heard. I saw Gordans fist clench on the table, as Barbara got two more plates out. Dravin looked at me and rolled his eyes.

"Looks like you get to meet the meat head," Gordan said in a low voice, as he took a drink of his coffee.

A short, giggling, blond walked in first. Her hair was long and straight, and what little clothes she had on were tight. Things my father would have a fit about if I had ever thought of wearing them. And right behind her was a tall, blond man. He had the build of a foot ball player, but he had a baby face. He could be considered good looking I supposed. Nothing I was looking for though.

The girl stopped giggling as soon as she laid eyes on her mother bringing over two slices of cake, and a frown formed on her pretty face when she saw her father. He was glaring pointedly at the boy.

"I thought you were going out for dinner," she said, straightning out her skirt.

"We thought it would be nicer to make dinner for Rainns first visit," Barbara said with forced pleasentry, "you're in time for desert."

The two made there way over to the table, and very awkwardly joined us. Gordans eyes never left the 'meat head'. Dravin gave my leg a reasuring squeez under the table, like this was normal, not to worry. It was nice, but didnt make it any less awkward.

"Loralie, Tommy, this is Rainn," Dravin said politely, sending his sister a sympathetic smile.

I smiled and gave a slight wave, "nice to meet you."

Loralie sent me a genuin smile my way, "nice to meet you too, I didnt know Dravin had a girlfriend."

I could feel eyes on me, it was a little uncomfertable actully. I could tell Tommy was stairing at me. And I was just waiting for what came next.

"What happened to your face?" he blurted, eyes still glewed to me.

I felt Dravins hand tense on my thy, "excuse me? Didnt your pairents teach you any manners?"

"Dravin, its okay," I said placing my hand on his.

"No it isnt, that was incredibly rude. I'm not going to let him talk to you like that."

"Its fine really, he's just curious," I sighed and looked at Tommy, "I was jumped when I was younger on my way to school. And my attacker did this to me."

I ran my finger along the scar. Tommy both looked a little empressed, interested, and frightened of Dravin. Dravin didnt untense, and was now glaring daggers at the simple boy, along with his father.

As soon as everyone had cake, Barbara started to talk about it. She clearly knew that no one else was going to talk, and she wasnt having any of it. She was going to change the subject, and try to make things less awkward. I, loving to bake myself, was thrilled with the subject change. And the two of us talked about different tricks and recipies.

And the two of us talked about different tricks and recipies.

Once we were all finished us girls cleaned up the mess from dinner. Well, Barbara did most of the work, and let us help a little. And the men went into the living room. I could only imagine what poor Tommy was being put through from Dravin. As rude as it was just comming out and asking like that, he didnt mean it to be. I could see that. But it was out of my hands now.

"You're very pretty," Loralie said as she dried off a plate I had just rinsed.

I wasnt really sure how to take that, "thank you... you have very lovely hair."

She grinned, "thanks. You're not his usual type. I like you more though, the girls he dated in the past were squares. You seem like you have a story to tell, like you're going to be someone."

I smiled and passed her the last mug, again not sure how to take her. She seemed well intended. And I sort of liked her too, her smile was the kind that rubbed off on everyone. She was different.

We all joined the boys in the living room once we finished. Tommy looked like he had gotten the talking to of a life time. And quickly took the oppurntunity to get out, he said a rushed good bye and left. Loralie was right behind him, saying he could stay longer. Gordon too got up and excused himself as he had a long day, and wished to get ready for bed.

"Its a long drive back to the school, dear," Barbara smiled, "why dont you stay the night, and we'll pay for your cab tomorrow?"

Dravin looked up at me from his spot on the couch, I nodded, "we'd love to. Thank you very much."

"Alright, good night," Barbara slightly flintched at the sound of car doors slamming outside, she sighed, "see you in the morning."

Dravin smiled, and called after her, "night mama, love you."

"Well... should we turn in too?" I asked when Barbara closed her bedroom door.

"Might as well... I can show you my cave," he laughed as he got up and took my hand, "I'm sorry for earlier, I never liked that idiot."

"Dont be silly, Dravin. Its not your fault, and I dont want to talk about it anymore. Please," I followed him through the kitchen, towards the front door.

We turned down a door across from the front door. Dravin flicked on a light and started walking down some stairs to two more door ways, the one on the left was open. It looked like a clean basement, full of boxes and an old chair. Dravin opened the door ahead of us and walked in, flicking on another light as he went. It was a fairly large room, there was a queen sized bed, a dark wood desk with a matching chair, an old dresser had action figures ligned up on the top, and posters ligned the dark blue walls.

Dravin turned the light in the stairway off, and closed the door behind us, "Welcome to my layor, luv."

I smiled at him as I sat down on the bed, "its nice... so is your family. I'd like to take you to meet my father some time."

He grinned as he took off his shirt, revealing his perfect chest, "I'd like that... but you know what I'd like more right now?"

I raised a questioning eyebrow as he walked over to me, and stopped between my legs. He ran his large hands up my arms and stopped to cup my face. I just smiled up at him, the butterflys had started up, and my heart was racing just from the look he was giving me. I could see the hunger in his eyes. Those dark chocolaty eyes.

He leaned in and pressed his lips lovingly to mine, lightly pushing me back onto the bed as he did so. His left hand tangled into my hair, as his right slowly made its way down my body. I wrapped my arms around him, pulling him closer to me. The kiss got deeper within seconds. And I found my shirt was being hastily pulled up over my head, and thrown onto the floor.

Dravin stopped and looked me in the eyes, "you're so beautiful, Rainn."

I rose up on my knees and kissed him again as he stood up to take off his pants. I wanted him so badly at the moment. But I couldnt have him, even if he wanted to. I just couldnt do that in his parents house, espically with them in the house. There was nothing wrong with making out though. As long as his parents didt know. I was a very modest girl, if they ever found out, I would never be able to look at the again.

I was pushed down on the bed again, further up this time. My head hit the pillows, as Dravin crawled over me. Kissing me again as he undid my pants with ease, sliding them down my legs and onto the floor. He broke the kiss again to crawl under the covers, it was a little chilly.

He crawled on top of me, between my legs, and kissed me hard. Pushing himself against my now heated and wet womanhood. There was no doubting that we wanted eachother. And by the way that he was kissing me I could tell we both wanted it pretty badly. It was quite the feeling knowing that someone wanted me this way. Needed me that badly. I just wanted to tell him how much I loved him in that moment.

But I couldnt... It just wasnt the right time.

I hope this makes up for how long I've taken to write it.
