Chapter 27
“Lis, that’s Adam. Didn’t he dump you before Christmas Junior year?”
“At the Christmas party. I remember that like it was yesterday.”
“Here he comes.”
“Where are you going?” I said to Tori as she darted off.
“Hey, Lisa,” he said.
“I see you still remember me.”
“Yeah. What are you doing here? I thought you moved.”
“I did. I live in Jersey. I’m here on a vacation. Long story.”
“Ah. Well, you look great.”
“You too.” I looked up at him.
Damn, I thought. He got hot. No, Lis. Gerard. Gerard!
“How long you here for?”
“Two weeks.”
“You wanna hang out or something?”
“As friends?”
“Um…sure.”
“I have a boyfriend. We’ve been together for two years. That’s why it’s as friends.”
“Oh.” He sounded disappointed.
“You dumped me. Be surprised I still know who you are. Here’s my cell, and here’s Tori’s number, cause my cell won’t work out here. Promise not to bother them?”
“Yes, I promise.”
“See you around.” I walked off with my heaping bowl of ice cream.
“What happened?” Tori asked.
“He wants to hang out. So, I gave him your number, and my cell, but that won’t
work. I told him it’s only as friends.”
“Why did he dump you anyways?” Kristen asked.
“Because I wouldn’t sleep with him.”
“Did you sleep with Gerard?” Tori asked.
“No. We got close at my graduation party, but he told me to wait until I’m ready.”
“So, what’s it like in Jersey?” Quinn asked.
“Oh my God. He talks!” I said, laughing. “It’s cool. I like it. We had to wear
uniforms at school though.” I made a face. “But, yeah, it’s nice. You all gotta come out and
visit me.”
“We will. Now, let’s go to Blockbuster and get some movies,” Tori said, jumping
up. “You guys gonna hang with us tonight?”
“Hell yeah,” Kristen said.
We spent an hour at Blockbuster deciding on what movies we all wanted to see. When we got our movies and junk food, we headed back to Tori’s place. We all got comfy in the living room and watched movies the rest of the evening. I would occasionally look around and see them cuddling with their significant other. I went and found Tori’s computer and logged into my account.
Gee: *Tackles and kisses*
Lisa: O_O Oww. My head.
Gee: I miss you.
Lisa: I miss you too.
Gee: I forgot to tell everyone you were leaving, and they all thought you were
kidnapped again.
Lisa: Ha-ha. I got bored. They’re all cuddly in the living room. OMG guess what?
I saw my old boyfriend today. He wants to hang out while I’m in town. I told him about you and said it’s as friends. He dumped me at a Christmas party in front of my family Junior year because I wouldn’t sleep with him.
Gee: What an asshole.
Lisa: Yeah. So…you talk to Frank yet?
Gee: It’s only been a day.
Lisa: I’m impatient. Sorry.
Gee: I’ll talk to him this weekend.
Lisa: Kay.
Gee: Well? How’s home?
Lisa: Weird.
Gee: How?
Lisa: It doesn’t feel like home to me anymore. Jersey’s my home now.
Gee: Ah. I gotta go to bed now. I’m taking Mikey to school in the morning, then to
a job interview.
Lisa: Where?
Gee: Barnes and Noble, the bookstore.
Lisa: Cool. Night-night.
Gee: *Huggle*
Lisa: Gerard! You stole my word. *Tackle*
Gee has signed out.
I grunted and scrolled through my contacts list. Nobody else was on so I turned off the computer and went to bed.
