Love Makes Blind

New Beginnings.

“I had him first you know.” Leah started.
Elia was confused; she didn’t understand where Leah was taking this.
“Sam. He was mine.”
“Really?” Elia was surprised to say at least.
“Yes. We had been dating for almost three years. I was perfect for him, and he was perfect for me. We were together all the time, he was amazing and all my single friends were jealous. I felt like a princess when I was around him, because he always told me how beautiful I was and how we would grow old together. Sam and I was the ‘it’ couple you could say it. We had even plans to go to college together.” Leah took a pause.

“You must have really loved him.” Elia smiled, but felt a little sad, because she knew the story wouldn’t end well.
“I did. But then, one day two years ago he disappeared without a word. I was worried sick. People were searching both La Push and Forks and all the surrounding woods for him. Sam was gone for three months before he came back. He had changed; he looked so angry and upset, he even he told me he wouldn’t go to college, that he changed his mind and wanted to get a job here at the rez. He hated this place. And then he started avoiding me, and I let him, thinking he just needed some space. But after awhile it started to look like thing would go back to normal. Sam started smiling sometimes and he took me out on dates. The worst thing is; just as everything felt right again, my cousin, Emily Young came to visit. She was my best friend and had supported me through the whole thing with Sam. She-“

Leah was broken off mid sentence by Elia. “Emily is your cousin?”
“Yes. But don’t break me off.”
Elia nodded and motioned for her to continue.
“Emily wanted to meet Sam, of course, because I had been talking nonstop about him. So I took her to him. Big mistake. The way he looked at her. I was so hurt I can’t describe it. Even before we got to sit down and eat, Sam asked me to come outside. He broke up with me, saying that we weren’t meant for each other. They were a couple and moved in together before a week had passed.”
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry Lee.” Elia wrapped my arms around her shoulders and hugged her.

Leah rested her head on her shoulder for a short second before she pulled away. “You promised not to feel sorry for me. But there are more. After they became a couple I changed. I stopped meeting my friends; I refused to talk to Emily for a month. I snapped at my family for just talking to me. I kept my dreams though. I still wanted to go to college; I wanted to be a teacher, oddly enough. I just love the feeling of helping others. But all that was ripped away from me the second I phased. Now I’m stuck in this hell hole as long as I live. The thing I hate the most is the constant anger and bitterness.”
“I don’t know what to say. I don’t have much experience with… that sort of things.” Elia held Leah’s hand.

Leah sighed. “But still, I keep wondering why Sam didn’t imprint on me. Because, I don’t know if Paul told you, but the imprinting happens because it will make stronger wolves, so why didn’t he or any of the other idiots in the pack imprint on me?”
Elia mused for a second. “Maybe because it’s you that have to imprint, that has to be the reason. Instead of asking why they haven’t imprinted on you, you should ask why you haven’t imprinted them. I think that the second the right man walks into your life, you’ll imprint and won’t be able to look away from him. And he will be the one that remove all you’re masks of anger and bitterness. You’ll be able to forgive Sam, and all the others for all the stupid remarks they have said to you. He will be the one that finds you again.”

Elia was taken aback when Leah started sobbing furiously. Elia was quick to wrap her arms around Leah and pull her closer; she tried to sooth her new friend as she cried on her shoulder.
It’s going to be okay, Lee.” Elia whispered. “Everything is going to work out.”
“Thank you Elia, for making me look at it that way.” Leah said and cried a little more. Then she straightened up and laughed. “I’m so sorry, this is nothing like me. Please just forget it.”
Elia shook her head and took Leah’s hand. “No, I’m your friend, and this is what friends do for each other.”
“Okay, you’re right.” Leah smiled at her new friend. Elia was the first person she had talked to about all the things she had held locked up inside her, and it felt good just to let everything out.

“It’s getting pretty late, do you think we should start making dinner?” Leah stood up.
“Yes! I’m starving!” Elia jumped up and ran to the kitchen.
Leah laughed and followed. “Let’s make tacos!”
The two girls talked and had fun in the kitchen making taco. Elia didn’t do much seeing that if she cut vegetables she could cut her finger and if she stood with the stove, she would end up burning the food. So she sat there and was entertained by Leah.
When the food was almost done, Leah remembered that Elia hadn’t got dressed that day, so they walked up to Elia’s room and found some clothes she could wear.

The phone rang downstairs.
“I’ll go get that while you change.” Leah walked down stairs and picked up the phone.
Elia listened as she changed her clothes quickly.

“Elia?” Leah heard as she put the phone to her ear, it was a man’s voice.
“No, it’s Leah, I’m Elia’s friend, who is this?” she asked.
“I’m her brother, do you mind if I talk to her?”
Leah smiled and held the phone away from her face as she called Elia’s name. “Elia! It’s your brother!”

“Coming!” Elia ran down the stairs and held her hand out for the phone. “Darin!” She almost yelled in the phone as soon as she got it.
“Hi bambina, what are you doing?” Darin asked his exited sister.
“I’m just about to eat taco with Leah. What are you doing?” Elia asked back.
“Not much, I’m walking. Hey, do me a favor and walk to the front door.”
Elia didn’t know why she had to walk to the front door, but she did as her brother told her.
“What’s going on?” Elia asked, but all she heard was the beeping sound. Weird, she thought and turned to walk to the kitchen, but she heard someone knock on the door. She opened it and was pulled into a hug. She recognized the smell in an instant.

“Surprise!” Darin said and kissed both her cheeks.
“Darin,” Elia laughed and hugged him again. “what are you doing home?”
“I finished the job, and I couldn’t wait to get home to my sorella.”
“Does ma know you’re home?” Elia wondered.
“Yes, but they are staying in Seattle till Sunday.” Darin smiled and let go of Elia. “What smell’s so delicious?”
“Taco.” Leah walked in to the front room. But she stopped abruptly when she saw the beautiful man standing next to Elia. He looked very much like Elia, the same ivory skin complexion and light grey eyes. Both their facial features where alike, but Darin was taller.
Leah couldn’t do anything but stare.

Darin stared back at the woman who stood in front of him. Her hair had lumps in it, her clothes were dirty, but she looked so amazing, so perfect. She was the prettiest woman Darin had ever laid his eye on, and it seemed like he couldn’t look away. Her skin was a smooth russet color; her hair was shining black and hung loosely around her shoulders. Her eyes had the deepest brown color he had ever seen.

Darin cleared his throat and took a step towards her and extended his hand.
“I’m Darin Agostino.” He bent forward and kissed both her cheeks, in an Italian manner. Darin could see a blush on her cheeks, well hidden under her dark skin.
“Leah Clearwater.” She smiled and revealed a row of perfect white teeth.
Darin returned the smile. He still held her hand in his.

Leah knew Elia had right, because she could slowly feel all her anger disappearing, all the bitterness towards Sam and the pack subsided as her hand was held by Darin.

Elia cleared her throat behind them, feeling like she interrupted a moment, but she had no idea what was going on.
“Lee, did we make enough tacos for Darin too?” She asked.
“Yes of course.” Leah said hurriedly and let her hand fall to her side.
She turned around and led Elia to the kitchen table.
“I’ll just go upstairs with my suitcase.” Darin said, and both girls could hear him walk the stairs.

“What happened?” Elia asked.
Leah let out a giggle. “You are my lucky charm.” She hugged Elia.
Elia laughed. “What do you mean?”
“I just imprinted on your brother!” Leah said excitedly.
Elia squealed. “That is awesome!” Elia couldn’t be happier, because now she wouldn’t have to keep secrets for her brother. “When are you going to tell him?”
Leah laughed. “I just met him. I need to get to know him better.”
“What’s there to know? He’s the best you could have ever imprinted on. He won’t freak. He is perfect!” Elia gushed and held tightly on Leah’s arm.
“I’m sure he is. He seems nice.” Leah grinned.

“Is it me you two keep whispering about?” Darin walked inside the kitchen.
Elia grinned like a fool as she sat down with the table. “Noo…” she dragged the word out.
“Just sit down.” Leah smiled at him.
“No, here let me help since you cooked the food.” Darin took the casserole from Leah’s hands, and when their hands touched it felt like and electric shock ran through Darin. He smiled.

“Where is Paul, by the way?” Darin wanted to know.
Elia wasn’t sure what to answer. “He had some stuff to fix.”
“Yeah, so he asked me to look after Elia. He’ll be back later.” Leah shot in with a smile. She first thought Paul owed her one for making her help Elia, but know she knew it was she that owed him.
“Okay.” Darin nodded.

After they had eaten for awhile and Darin had told them about his trip to New York, Elia lifted her glass.
“I want to make a toast.”
“What for?” Darin laughed at his little sister.
“For new friends and new beginnings.” Elia said proudly.
“For new beginnings.” Leah clinked her glass with both Darin and Elia.
