I Want a Taste of Your Medicine
I Can Pull It Together
I figured that since I didn't call yesterday, today would be a good time to let my parents know that I arrived safely. I dialed the number to the house and waited listening to the rings go by and for my mom to answer the phone.
"Hello?" Her familiar voice said. Did she even bother to check the caller I.d, I mean Marshall's number should have come up.
"Mom," I said, "I just wanted to call and let you know that I was okay,"
"You didn't need to do that," She said like I was stupid for even calling her in the first place. Did my parents really not care about me that much? I felt water prickle behind my eyelashes, but I didn't let myself cry, I was stronger than that. It usually took a lot for me to break down.
"How have you and dad been?" I asked, trying to show her that I at least cared about them.
"Oh, you're dad and I are fine. Don't call us anymore unless its extremely important. It costs a lot of money for long distance," She said, trying to sound nice. To me she sounded like a mother who never wanted to hear her daughters voice again.
"Marshall calls," I said annoyed and hurt. My mother has always been like this with me, but when I was 10 she was with me when I came down here, so I've never been this far away from her before.
"Yeah but you know how much your father and I miss Marshall since he's gone all year round. Just try and call only for emergencies," She said, sounding frustrated with me.
"Mom, I'm your daughter. You are supposed to want me to call every 5 minutes, Marshall's not here and I'm living in his house with his four room mates; all guys mom and you don't want me to waste my time calling you unless its an emergency because your phone bill will go up a little bit. Fine whatever mom, so be it," I said angrily.
"No need to get mad," She said, disgusted with my tone towards her.
"Bye, mom," I said, hanging up the phone. I felt the water behind my eyelashes again, but I didn't cry. I was not going to sit there and cry and feel sorry for myself when I'm on vacation in Australia.
I walked downstairs angry and in a hurry to get out onto the boat. I couldn't wait to try wake boarding and to go on the sea doo again. I slipped on my sandals and made sure that I had my bag full of everything that I needed.
The guys took a minute to get to the door with their stuff, which consisted of the trunks they were wearing and a towel. They took longer than me and I made a phone call before coming down to the door. Adam was in the weight room though, so I knew for sure that he didn't hear my conversation.
"You look like you just got hit by a bus," Adam said, concerned.
"Thanks, that's what every girl wants to hear," I said faking a smile at him. I wasn't in the best of moods thanks to my so called mother. What was the point in her giving birth to me if she was just going to sit around and not care about me.
"You okay?" Max said, I hadn't really talked to Max yet. I didn't exactly know how to, I mean he was hot, yes, but I felt like there was more to him then he let on and I didn't want him to see me as stupid.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Lets get going," I said opening the door. None of the guys moved. "Seriously, I'm fine,"
"Well it's just Marshall would kill us if anything bad were to happen to you," Max said, and I just smiled at him. How cute, they were afraid of my big tough brother.
"Guys, I'm fine. Lets go," I didn't wait for them this time, I just walked out and towards the beach where I saw not one but 2 sea doos resting by the docks and a different boat there too. It was good for cruising, I'm pretty sure it's called a Pontoon Boat. It didn't matter, it was a party boat and it was nice.
