The police were called round the next day and at first believed it was a suicide. They did not suspect that Nikole was involved or that it was in fact a murder, but over the next few days, an undercover junior officer called Tom Angelo found evidence against her. She got a hearing and pleaded not guilty, but with the evidence that Tom Angelo had against her, she was found guilty and she got a ten-year sentence for manslaughter.
