Our eyes met momentarily and I flinched, startled. But he only smiled, a lopsided grin that lit up his turquoise eyes and pressed a dimple in his cheek, reducing me to a puddle of goo on the floor. It was the kind of smile that pins you to the ground and refuses to let you go. It was the kind of smile that suggests it’s sharing something private with you, something you’re privileged to have. And it was the kind of smile that shoves you tumbling down the slippery slope of unrequited love with nothing to catch you when you fall.
