It Only Hurt a Little (a Book of Short Stories)

Suicide Note

"I love you Mom. I love you Dad' the girl writes.
Every possible thought went through her head. Voices rushed around, shoving and pushing their way through. All doubts went away as she surrounded her body in the hot water. She yearned for the doubts to end. All the hurt and pain she wanted gone. She took the cap off of the bottle. She tried counting the pills at first to spare time. Finally she poured the rest into her mouth. The taste churned her stomach. Her eyes fluttered, her body went limp. She fell back with ease. She looked up to see the shadow of a girl; her.
"WHY'D YOU DO THAT?!" the shadow panicked, "Stupid girl! See what you've done?"
"I'm sorry!" the girl pleaded.
She clawed helplessly at the tub, a useless attempt to get up, and yearned for the sweet oxygen she never appreciated. They say when you dream you're falling you don't live to land. The girl fell deeply. There was a thud; she landed.
