Dark Eyed Dreamers
Jasey Rae
It had been six months, six wonderful months since Jack and I had gotten together. One day, my phone vibrated in my pocket, jolting us from one of our heated make-out sessions. I groped myself, finally finding my phone. I looked at the screen. Uncle Jerry? What did he need?
"Hello?" I asked.
"Jasey Rae?" he asked.
"Yeah it's me." I said quietly.
"It's your mom." he said solemnly.
"What about her?" I asked, my voice raising an octave.
"She died in a car crash an hour ago. I'm sorry." he whispered, getting choked up.
"What? No! That couldn't have happened! Not her! No!" I sobbed.
"I know. It's okay. It'll be fine." he whispered and the line went dead. Jack took me in his arms.
"What happened?" he asked, concerned. I shook my head and he let me cry, rubbing my back soothingly until I stopped.
"My mom died." I whispered hoarsely.
"What? When?" he asked.
"An hour ago." I whispered.
"I'm sorry." he whispered.
"I know. It's not your fault." I mumbled into his chest and he held me closer. "So what am I going to do? Where am I supposed to live?" I asked.
"You can live with me." he breathed.
"And we don't have to have sex?" I asked. He kissed my head
"Not unless you want to." he promised.
"I don't think I'm ready." I said uncertainly.
"Then I can wait." he promised. It was silent for a while.
"Our six-month anniversary is coming up." he breathed.
"I know." I whispered.
"I have something really cool planned for us." he whispered.
"Really?" I asked.
"Yeah. Just be ready by seven tomorrow night and dress nice." he said.
"Okay." I replied
