Epilogue

The air inside the ship was tense, to say the least. James was bound, gagged, and already chronostatic in his seat, and the other three crewmembers were preparing for their own bouts of chronostasis.

As they were about to initiate it, Roger made a surprised noise. “What?” asked the captain, clearly still upset about the day’s happenings.

“Oh,” said Roger, distractedly, “Nothing, never mind.”

He initialized chronostasis, and when no one else could hear him, he said a single sentence to the room.

“Good luck to you, too.”
