This Could Be All I've Waited For

Everyone, other than Alex was around our house for a Barbeque. It was a nice evening, the sun was just beginning to set and everyone was sitting out on the porch laughing and joking with each other.
The moment’s bliss was ruined by a text which Zack received. He read it aloud.

Bianca’s gone. So Am I.
Alex

Everyone looked at each other in shock and bewilderment, Zack replied

What?

We waited for ten minutes but got no reply.
“I’ll ring him,” I said, leaning over Jack and snatching Zack’s phone from him
It rang for a while before he finally picked up
“Look man, I’m sorry, I-“
“Alex, it’s me,” I cut him off sternly
“Perfect,” He sighed sarcastically
“Where are you?”
“On my way to the airport,”
“Are you being serious?” I asked, shocked
“Yes,” Was the only reply I got
“You’re making a mistake,”
“I’ve made quite a few of those already,” He snapped
Ouch
“Why do you care about this girl so much anyway?”
“Why do you have so much against her?”
“I don’t,”
“You do,”
“Put the fucking phone on loudspeaker,” Jack suddenly interrupted
I took the phone away from my ear and put it on loudspeaker, not telling Alex
“So what are you going to do when you get to England?” I asked “How are you planning on finding her?”
“I have her number,”
I looked over at Rian; his face just told me he was mad.
“And then what? Sweep her off her feet,” I paused “For fucks sake Alex get over yourself, get over her,”
“Yeah you’re getting annoying now, I’m about to hang up,”
“Hold up!” Zack said, he took the phone from me and took it off loudspeaker
“Alex, it’s Zack,” He got up and went into the house
I slammed my hand on the table, making it shake
Jack took my wrist
“Jesus Jess, calm down,” He held my hand
“You OK Rian?” I asked him
He shrugged and took a potato chip from the plate infront of him
“I guess not,” I mumbled
I decided to make myself busy and also see if I could hear in on any of the conversation Zack was having with Alex so I cleared the table and took the plates inside.
Zack was in the room next to the kitchen but the door was closed so I put the plates down and put my ear up against the door.
“Just be careful Alex, don’t let your heart get broken again or anything,” He sighed
“OK dude, have a nice trip,”
I could hear shuffling so dashed to the counter and made myself look busy
“Oh Jess,” Zack said, a little shocked
“So is he going?” Jack asked, coming in from outside – followed By Rian carrying empty beer cans
“Yes,” Zack said “I couldn’t stop him,”
Jack shook his head
“Mistake,” He said under his breath
They put the beer cans on the counter and Jack came from behind and wrapped his arms round me
“How about we all snuggle up infront of a movie?” He asked, leaning his chin on top of my head
“Only if I get to choose it,” Rian said, suddenly perking up
“Fine!” Jack replied and we all went to the lounge room and fell onto the sofa – Jack balancing the television remote on top of the baby belly and making me giggle.
It was 2am – the film had finished and all the boys had fallen asleep – Rian slumped up against Jack and Zack slumped up against Rian. They looked completly adorable.
I pulled myself up slowly and slipped my hand into Zack’s pocket and took out his phone. There was one missed call – from Alex.
