Head on Collision

On Top Of The World

Alex’s POV

I picked a piece of burnt pineapple off the crust of my pizza slice and chucked in into the box, before taking a bite of the end. I chewed slowly; looking around at Zack and Rian. For some reason, the basement was quiet. The only sounds present was those of me and the guys chewing or the occasional fizz of a soft drink bottle being opened.

we were all waiting in anticipation; waiting for a text or a phone call or something from Jack. I glanced up at the old cuckoo clock on the wall by the stairs from my place on the lounge. It was about half past four. Jack driving test was scheduled for about four o’clock; as I was informed about a million times today. Jack had been so cute all day. His smile didn’t leave his face the entire time. the amount of cuddles and kisses on the cheeks I got during the day was insane. Of course, I was excited for him; he was the only one that didn’t have his license out of the four of us. I just didn’t have a car.

“I sort of missed this,” Zack broke the silence; his burp echoing off the walls. “Eating crap, drinking soft drink chilling with you guys.”

“It’s Jack’s fault,” Rian replied; tossing a crust ino the box. “He just had to see Alex on New Years.”

“That’s not exactly a bad thing,” I half laughed.

“You’re saying you didn’t miss spending every waking moment with that lover boy of yours?” Rian smirked.

“Of course I did, in more ways than one,” I smirked in response; Rian pulled a face. “But, it’s over now. Back to normal.”

“Well, as normal as Jack can get anyway,” Zack laughed.

We all turned our eyes upwards at the sound of voices up stairs.

“Good afternoon Mrs Dawson. And how are you this absolutely fantastic amazing afternoon?” Jack elated voice floated down the stairs.

I smiled to myself; looking to the stairs. The door to the basement opened and Jack goofy grin popped around the corner. He galloped his way down the stairs and stopped in front of us.

“Well?” Zack asked; the sarcastic tone obvious.

Jack grinned and held up his license triumphantly.

“Congrats bro,” Rian stood up; bro hugging him.

“Yeah man,” Zack agreed. “Good one.”

“Thank you!” Jack practically squealed. “I’m so excited. Driving by myself is fucking awesome.”

He dropped hsi bag and flopped down onto the couch beside me. He draped an arm around my shoulders and I leaned into him; squeezing him in to a hug. He pressed a kiss to my temple.

“Im so proud of you,” I whispered.

“Thank you babe,” he smiled down to me.

“Wait, so does that mean you can drive yourself tomorrow night?” Rian asked the room.

Jack turned from smiling down at me to face Rian. He leaned against me and I snaked an arm around his waist; resting my palm on him stomach.

“Where to?” Jack questioned; flopping his head back onto my shoulder.

“Karas party,” Rian replied.

“Oh shit,” I mentally slaped myself or forgetting. “Is that tomorrow night?”

“Yeah,” Rian nodded slowly; frowning. You could just tell he was annoyed with us forgetting hsi girlfriends birthday party.

Personally. I didn’t see the point. She was only turning 17. It wasn’t a big deal.

“Shit,” I muttered. “I cant make it. Family thing. Gradnparents are coming over from England. I haven’t seen them since we moved here. I can’t get out of it.”

“Oh,” Rian looked disappointed.

“I’m sorry,” I told him; instantly feeling bad.

“No. It’s no big deal, Rian smiled at me before turning back to Jack. ”You still want to come?

Jack looked to me; like he was asking my permission

“You can still go Jack,” I told him. “Kara’s your friend too.”

“Are you sure?” Jack looked at me hopefully.

I knew how much he liked parties. But I couldn’t help but be disappointed that he still wanted to go even though I couldn’t. I couldn’t tell him no though.

“Positive,” I nodded.

Jack grinned and kissed the tip of my nose.

“Okay, im in,” Jack told Rian. “But I’ll take the ride. I don’t want to drive over alone. Besides. I don’t know where Kara lives.”

“No problem,” Rian beamed. “Kara’s is past yours anyway.”

I smiled to myself as they continued to chat. But I couldn’t help but feel uneasy about this party.
