Parallel Worlds

“How could you just let her go off like that!?!? You know what she’s like!!! She’ll be completely lost now!!! God knows where she is!!!” Christina shouted at the sorry looking Jessica in front of her, she could feel herself burning up from the inside from anger and upset
“It’s what she wanted to do! Emily’s her best friend and she wanted to find her by herself!” Jessica replied defending herself. Being a person who got angry easily, Jessica was trying her hardest to not get angry with Christina who couldn’t see any sense whatsoever in her idea
“Oh and so that’s a reason for you to just let Duckie go wandering off on her own!?!?” Christina continued to glare fumingly at Jessica, by this time other members of the household had gathered from the kitchen to the hallway to see what all the fuss was about
“You’re acting as if she doesn’t have brain Christina! She’s not that stupid!!!”
“What’s going on?” Harley dared to pipe up, Christina shot her head round quickly to look at Harley
“She!” she said pointing at Jessica “went and let Duckie go wandering off to find Emily on her own!!!”
“Christina you don’t understand! It’s what Duckie wanted to do!” Jessica interrupted
“Guys? Where’s Duckie?” Teddy said emerging at the top of the stairs after being upstairs and failing to find his lover, only catching the end of the conversation
“Well maybe Jessica can explain that question to you” Christina said looking from Teddy to Jessica, her eyes full of daggers. Jessica’s anger turned into guilt and sadness as she looked up at Teddy as he came down the stairs and sat down a few steps up from the bottom. Before Christina’s anger could boil over and for her to snap at anyone else, Ed dragged her by the hand out of the hallway and into the kitchen to get her an energy drink and calm her nerves a bit. Jessica walked over to the bottom of the stairs and leant against the wall looking at Teddy
“I’m so sorry Teddy” Jessica said sadly
“Why? Where is she?” His eyes widened slightly
“She wanted to go find Emily… so I let her go off to find her” Jessica stopped the tears that gathered in her eyes. Teddy stood up and stepped down the last few steps to hug Jessica
“It’s alright” Teddy said calmly “all we need to do is find her, she can’t have gone far” Teddy gave Jessica a reassuring smile to which she half-smiled back “Come on, we’ll gather a few people together and we’ll all split up and look for her” He said patting her lightly on the back.

Alex and Becca were some of the few people that had gone to sit in the living room to get away from all of the commotion. Becca sat in absolute silence as Alex gently stroked the back of her hand with his thumb; both were deep in thought.
“… Maybe we shouldn’t be here” Alex thought out loud out of the silence, Becca looked up at him
“… What?” Alex shifted slightly to face her and took both her hands in his
“I mean the band… maybe we should do what the kidnapper says and get back to work, Emily’s life may be at stake here… I love you but we cant just let Emily pass us by… we better leave…” Becca stared open mouthed at Alex, lost for words
“But … you cant leave me…”
