Wanna Tell You How I Feel Inside

Dos.

-Zacky’s P.O.V.-

The bell rang out, making many sleeping kids jump up in their seats. I was already on my way out, completely ignoring my Chemistry teacher. But truly our whole class always ignores him. That might be the reason most of us are hanging on the thin line of failing. I tossed my books into my locker before slamming it shut.

“Hey Vengeance. What’s up?” I turned to my left to see Brian walking up to me. His black fedora was easy to spot even between all the teenagers hurrying to escape. Whoever decided having school on Fridays suck. At least today we get out early for ‘staff development’. From what I hear it’s just teachers having five million meetings.

“Gotta get home.” I replied simply, walking off towards the exit once Brian caught up.

“What’s up with the rush?” Brian asked curiously. Suddenly it looked like a light bulb went off in his head. “Oh yeah. Foster kid coming, right?”

“Her name’s Sage,” I automatically corrected without thinking. My mom had to drill that into my head over the past two days. Guess I picked up the habit. Brian raised an eyebrow at me and I shrugged in response.

“So you want a ride?” Brian asked, already fishing out his keys from his pocket. I swear he’s been trying to shove it in my face he can drive since he recently got his license. Doesn’t help his dad also pitched in a bit so he could buy himself a car already. I simply stared at him like he was retarded. “..I’ll take that as a yes.”

“Come on man! My parents said to get home as quickly as possible.” I walked ahead of Brian as a chuckle escaped his lips. I know his exact thought, since when did you listen to your parents? What the guys didn’t realize was that I do listen to them, my parents are just really laid back. They’ve been there and know what I’ll do anyways. I guess they just know me too well.

“Brian! I need a ride from the Sexy Synyster Jr.!” Brian and I turned around to see Jimmy running as fast as he could from the back of the school. A few stray kids quickly moved out of the way to not get ran over by the six foot four giant we call The Rev. I raised my eyebrow at Brian for the strange name Jimmy had called his car…at least I’m hoping he meant the car. Brian shrugged in reply. Finally Jimmy caught up to us, panting to get his breath back.

“Okay, Rev? How and why the hell did you come up with that name for his car?” I questioned.

“Figured it’d be a nice way to suck up for cutting off his hair,” Jimmy replied with a shrug. I couldn’t help but laugh at the memory from a week back. Brian had gotten piss drunk and passed out. A drunken Jimmy thought it’d be funny to cut off Brian’s hair from it’s usual shoulder length to a very short length that only could be spiked. And it was funny. Until Brian woke up in the morning. It wasn’t that funny anymore.

“Get in now or I am leaving you,” Brian stated coldly. We stopped our laughing abruptly. I climbed into the back and let Jimmy get the front. Mainly because if Brian decided to strangle someone it would be a lot easier to grab Jimmy. Yes, I am a caring friend. Can’t ya tell? As soon as Brian revved his Mustang, Metallica bled from his speakers at full force. I just leaned back, watching the outside world flash by. This would have been a time I’d just get lost in my thoughts, but I couldn’t even hear myself think with the music and Jimmy and Brian screaming over it to talk.

“Why don’t you just turn it down numb nuts?” I asked. Of course my words just got lost in the lyrics since I was only talking at normal volume. I rolled my eyes and felt a strange anxiousness enter my body. What was she like? Did we have anything in common? Was she one of those annoying fifteen year olds? Dear God, I hope not.

“Vengeance!” My head snapped up at Jimmy yelling my name. “We’re here!”

“Oh.” Sure enough, there was my house on my left. Jimmy was nice enough today to get out so I wouldn’t have to climb over him. I think Jimmy had like gay fantasies or something cause he enjoys me having to rub my ass on him to get out. Or he’s just an asshole. But I’m starting to believe the first one everyday he turns down going out with some girl. Having sex, sure. But actually dating one, nope.

“Thanks guys. See ya later.”

“Hey, can we all still hangout tomorrow?” Brian called. I bit my lip and slowly turned around.

“Yeah, that should be okay. Mind if Sage comes?” I know I haven’t asked her yet. But in all honesty, I’ll kidnap her if I have to. Even if I don’t like her she’ll have to meet them. She’ll be seeing them way too much not to.

“Okay! Bye.” Brian sped down the street, Jimmy yelling a profanity out the window as he slammed his head on the door. Brian didn’t even let him fully sit down before he drove off. Guess that is his way at getting revenge for his hair. I laughed before walking up the walkway to my house. I noticed a small black four door car in the driveway. No doubt the social worker’s rental. Next to it was our dark blue SUV Dad had bought with his recent raise.

“I’m home!” I yelled out as I entered the front door. I dropped my bag next to the stairs as usual.

“In the living room!” I heard my mother call. I walked in to see my mom and dad sitting on one of the couches. Across from them sat a man with dirty blond hair and brown eyes. His suit made him look awkward and out of place. I raised my eyebrow as he looked at me wearily like I was the reason for all his problems.

“This is Mr. Jefferson. Mr. Jefferson, this is our son Zacky,” my father introduced. I nodded my head towards him and he gave a fake smile. By his actions I knew he look uncomfortable under my gaze. I couldn’t help but smirk. This guy was pathetic.

“Where’s Sage?” I asked curiously.

“In her room. Would you mind going to get her while we get ready to leave?” I nodded, maybe a bit too eagerly, before walking to the stairs. I picked up my backpack and ascended the stairs. I tossed my bag into my room before almost jogging over to the room dubbed Sage’s. I knocked before slowly opening it. A girl laid across the bed in front of me. She had short brown and black hair mostly covered by a beanie. She was dressed in a black tank, dark blue jeans with rips in the knees, and converse. I smiled to myself before walking up to the side of the bed.

“Sage,” I cooed, softly shaking her shoulder.

“Five more minutes Mom,” Sage muttered, burying her head into her pillow. I had to literally bite back an ‘aww’….Oh yeah, totally proving my masculinity here.

“Come on Sage. It’s time for lunch.” This time I shook her, she slowly opened her eyes. They were a piercing gray that made my own green ones grow in surprise. I had never seen a shade like that. Suddenly it must have clicked to her that she didn’t know me because the next thing I know, I’m getting punch in my face.

“Holy fuck!” That actually hurt! I leaned over, holding my face in pain. She’s got a nice right arm.

“Oh, you Zacky?” I nodded as I straightened up, rubbing my nose. I’m surprise I didn’t get a nose bleed! “Well I’m Sage. I’m going downstairs. Bye.”

“But-” She was already gone before I could say anything else. My jaw fell open in shock. She didn’t even apologize! Why do I have a feeling this is a disaster waiting to happen?

“I like her better when she’s asleep,” I muttered walking out of her room.
