I Like the Way You Wear Those Faded Blue Jeans

I was sitting in the TAPS office watching Donna type away on the computer while wait for Uncle Jason to get in. Being the early riser I am I arrive at the office early so I set up then Donna gets in and takes over leaving me to wait for Uncle Jason. Only problem there is that Uncle Jason and Grant work as plumbers for Roto-Rooter so they don’t get in until about 4:00 so I’m stuck with Donna and Brian. Donna is boring some times but I like Brian he and I get along very well.

“Zora can you help me back here” Brian called
“Sure Brian” I called

I walked into one of the two first floor back rooms to Brian. He was going through all the equipment while freaking out in the process.

“What did ya loose this time” I smirked
“One of the wireless cameras” Brian said
“Was it there when you packed up” I asked
“I’m sure it was” Brian said
“Okay well the last place we visited was the family with the supposed evil spirit which we debunked down to the neighbor…”
“Hey Brian what’s with the freak out” Steve said
“I lost one of the wireless cameras” Brian said
“Actually I broke it” Steve said
“Do Grant and Jason Know?” Brian asked
“Ah no I was hoping we would have a new one before the next case” Steve said
“Thank God” Brian said

I looked at Brian who nodded at me before I left the room. As I walked back out front Uncle Jason and Grant walked in.

“Uncle J” I squeaked
“Hi Zora” Uncle Jason smiled
“Hi G” I smiled
“Hay Zora” Grant smiled
“Zora can I talk to you” Brian asked
“Sure” I smiled

I followed Brian into the back room where Uncle Jason and Grant say is there office.

“Why are you scared of Steve” Brian asked
“You know I have trust issues” I said
“But you get along with me and Jason and Grant” Brian said
“Well Jason’s my Uncle, I’ve know Grant half my life and you trained me” I said
“So what’s with Steve and Andy also” Brian said
“I just don’t like Steve he seems like he could hurt me and Andy I don’t mind his just weird” I said
“Steve isn't a bad guy his really nice” Brian said
“Okay” I said

I walked back out front where Uncle Jason, Grant and Steve where talking.

“Can I talk to you Uncle J? You too Grant” I whispered
“Of course” Grant said

We went into there office.

“Is Steve mean” I asked
“No why would you think that” Grant asked
“He looks mean and he gets angry some times” I said
“Steve is a nice guy, he works hard and we have never had a problem with him” Said Uncle J
“Oh okay I was just wondering” I smiled
“Okay then let’s get out of here” Grant said

We walked out of the office and I looked around for Steve. He was no where to be seen. So I went to find Brian instead.

“Grant where’s Brian?” I asked
“In back” He said

I went in back to find Brian sitting doing nothing at all.

“Brian have you seen Steve” I asked
“He went to get bubble gum” Brian said
“Okay thanks” I said

I walked into the back office through the not-so-secret secret door.

“Uncle J” I smiled sweetly
“What do you want?” Uncle Jason asked
“I want chocolate” I said
“Here go” He smiled handing me 5 dollars

I took the money and basically ran down to the servo where I was hoping Steve would be. I ran in the door and straight into Steve.

“Oh I’m sorry” I blushed
“Completely my fault” Steve smiled helping me up “Your Jason’s niece”
“Yeah I’m sorry I never talk to you but I have trust issues I guess” I said
“How about I wait for you and we can walk and talk” Steve smiled
“Okay” I smiled

I ran off grabbing a dairy milk bar, bubble gum and chocolate milk. I went and paid for my stuff while Steve was looking around out side. I picked up my bag and walked out of the servo.

“Ready to go are we” Steve said
“Yep look I’m sorry for always being so quiet” I said
“It was nice to have someone who sits and listens” Steve said
“But I never sit and listen to you” I said
“I know but something you don’t know is after a week of you working with us and Tango saying how cool you where and seeing you hang with Brian I went and asked your uncle why you wouldn't talk to me and he told me you had trust issues and that you would come around in you own time” Steve smiled
“And I did” I smiled
“How about a piggy back ride you look tired” Steve smiled
“Okay” I smiled

Steve stopped and I jumped on his back. I wrapped my arms around his neck while his rested under my bottom holding me up. I giggled all the way back to the office while Steve complained about how heavy I was and that I had to stop eating chocolate. When we reached the office Steve put me down. I st oped laughing and looked a Steve. He was great maybe my first impressions where wrong.

“So I have just one question” Steve said
“And that is” I said
“How do you say your name” Steve asked
“Zora” I said
“Zora I like it” Steve smiled
“Zora” Uncle J called

I left Steve and walked to the back room Uncle J sounds mad.

“Uncle J” I said
“I don’t want you to get involved with Steve” he said
“I have only just started talking to him” I said
“I’m just saying I don’t want to have to kick either of you out of TAPS” Uncle J said
“So this is for TAPS” I snapped
“No what he means his your both very important to us and we wouldn't want to take sides and choose who has to leave TAPS” Said Grant
“Look if it does go that far Steve and I will sit down and talk to you two about it” I said “I doubt it will get that far”
“Okay then” Uncle J said

I left the back room and looked around Donna was gone and Steve was playing on the computer.

“What are doing Steve” I asked
“Playing games but don’t tell Donna” He said
“I won’t” I smiled

Just then the door open and Tango walked in.

“TANGO” I squealed running at him

I caught him off guard so we both hit the ground.

“You’re weak” I giggled
“And you so childish” He said as he tickled me
“Tango…stop… I need to… tell you …something” I said in between giggles
“What” Tango said

I ran over to Steve and wrapped my arms around Steve’s neck.

“Steve is my friend” I smiled
“Great now we can investigate together” Tango smiled
“Okay people we have a case” Grant said

3 days later Steve and I are loading the Van and Brian is explaining to Uncle Jason that he has no idea where to go. When Uncle Jason and Brian are done Uncle J walks over to me.

“Zora I need to talk to you” Uncle J said
“Okay” I smiled

Uncle J and I walked over to his car away from ears.

“Zora I have thought about this and I have talk to Grant, your Auntie, your friends and Donna we all think Steve is good for you, his a great guy and we know he won’t hurt you” Uncle J said
“What are you getting at” I said
“You can date Steve” Uncle J said
“I’ll still tell you if it gets that far” I said
“Off you go we have to get going” Uncle J smiled

I ran back to Steve and looked around for a second.

“Where’s Tango” I asked
“Weren't you told” Steve said
“Told what” I asked
“Tango’s not coming on this case his been suspended by his girlfriend” Steve smiled
“Ha what did he do” I laughed
“He didn't cook dinner” Steve laughed
“Poor Tango” I giggled

I grabbed Steve’s hand and pulled him over to where Brian and Donna and Andy where.

“Andy you and Tango are now my best friends along with Steve and Donna” I smiled
“What about me” Brian asked
“You’re not my best friend silly” I said
“Oh” Brain said
“You’re my best est Friend” I smiled hugging him

Brian hugged me back. I swear I could hear Steve pout. I let go of Brian and looked at Steve. I gave him a cheeky grin.

“That looks like trouble” Steve said
“Can you carry me until its time to go” I asked
“Have you stopped eating chocolate” Steve smiled
“Yes sir” I said
“Okay climb on up” Steve said

I jumped on Steve’s back wrapping my hands around his neck. His arms sitting just under my bottom holding me up I buried my face in the crock of his neck and smiled.

“What are you smiling for” Steve asked

I whispered into the Steve’s ear.

“Are you serious” Steve said
“Like a heart attack” I smiled
