I Like the Way You Wear Those Faded Blue Jeans

Veyron handed Dad and Uncle say a slip of paper. They looked at each other and back at the paper they were awe struck. I took the paper from their hands and looked at it. It was a check for 30, 000 dollars.

“Veyron why?” Was all that I could say
“I am what I am today because of you and I could never thank you enough for that consider it a gift” Veyron smiled
“Thank you so much this is going to help a lot” Uncle Jason said
“I have just one question” Dad asked
“And that is?” I asked
“How do you know him?” Dad asked “I mean up until 2 yeara ago he was a stuck up, rude, selfish, um your get the point”
“Well 2 years ago I got attack by some people who left me for dead in an Alley way, I managed to move myself to the street where Zora was walking by, she stopped and called for help, she could have walked by and left me to die but she didn't, she was a perfect strange yet she showed me compassion, like that of a mother, she stayed with me and told me everything would be fine, she even stopped by the hospital a few times while I was recovering, the doctors said 5 more minutes and I would have been dead” Veyron said
“You never told us” Uncle Jay said
“Because I knew if you found out I was wonder the streets alone at night I would surely end up dead” I said
“You were what?” Jay became slightly mad
“I'd gone out with friends they ditched me and for the record I was the driver so I was sober and I decided to walk home”
“You wait until your aunt hears about this” Uncle Jay said
“Oh boy” I sighed
“Anyway I must be leaving I have much to do” Veyron said
“Okay then call me when your free and we'll go out for drinks” I said
“Will do” Veyron smiled before walking out to his car and leaving

I walked back into the office to check everything was in order. I was pleased with it. I thought it was practical, hopefully Amy and Kris agreed. I walked back out into the office where Jay and Dad where hanging photos. I decided while they were doing that I would set up the reception computer and area. While I was busy setting up the computer Dad and Jay came out to hang up the photos in the reception. I honestly thought they would hang up TAPS photo's on the walls but no they hung up random ghost photos. I wasn't complaining. I finished setting up the computer and checked through the emails while Dad and Jay hung the last two photos. We had 3 case requests, you would think we would be run off our feet but not really.

“Dad, Uncle Jay we have 3 new cases” I said
“Do you think you can have them prioritised by tomorrow” Uncle Jay said going business like
“Sure, I'll even start the research”
“Okay well I think we're done for today we'll meet up here tomorrow and talk through the cases and finish the office set up plus I think some of the equipment needs retuning if you could tell Steve” Jay said
“I sure can, what time are we meeting?”
“Team meeting at 5 but I want you to come in with Amy and Kris earlier so you can show then around and teach them some of the basics” Jay said
“Wait me teach them?” I was shocked
“Well just show them the equipment, show them around the office and we want you to train them your job in researching, organising and case planning” Dad said
“I can do that, I'll call the team when I get home and let them know, I'll also see if I can drag Tango in early and see if I can get him working on setting up” I said
“Great also the phone guy should be coming in tomorrow at 11 I believe he said so if you can be here before then” Jay said
“Okay let's get going”

I quickly forwarded the emails to myself and went to grab some folders. When I got out front, Uncle Jay was gone and Dad was waiting to take me home. I was excited at least I could still do office work and I get to spend the day with Amy and Kris. Dad dropped me off, I gave him a quick kiss on the cheek and head inside to organise tomorrow. My house wasn't awfully large it was 2 bedrooms, open kitchen, dinning and lounge. Nothing to brag about really. I walked in to find Fuzzy and Eve curled up on the couch. As soon as I was in the door, Eve was running at me. I picked the small fluffy dog up and walked into the kitchen. I grabbed the house phone from the bench and began calling around.

Tango
“Hey Zora”
“Hay Tango are you busy tomorrow”
“No nothing as of yet but I think your going to change that”
“I need you at the TAPS office at 11 to set up a few things and for a team meeting at 5”
“Okay sure I can be there”
“Good I'll give you a list in the morning”
“I'm sure you'll keep me running”
“I will anyway I have more calls to make so I'll see you tomorrow”
“Okay see ya”

Amy
“Hello”
“Hi Amy it's Zora”
“Hi Zora”
“Jason wants you to come into the TAPS office tomorrow around 11 if your not busy”
“Sure I can be there”
“Good I'll be there with Tango when you arrive and hopefully Kris will be with us too”
“Sounds like fun”
“We'll need you until about 6 if that's okay”
“That's fine I'll just let my boyfriend know and we should be fine”
“Okay then I'll see you tomorrow”

Kris
“Hi Zora”
“Hi how did you know it was me?”
“Grant gave me your home number he said you do a lot of work from there”
“Yep I often work from home...wait my whole job is working at home”
“Yeah what do you do for a living? I don't understand how you can do so much work for TAPS and have a day job”
“Well it started small honestly it was for pocket money I brought and sold small objects for a profit now I have my own site where I sell everything from clothes to electronics mostly small items”
“And you make money from this?”
“Yes and it gives me the freedom to work with TAPS”
“You'll have to tell me more tomorrow”
“Yeah I have a few more TAPS related calls to make and packages to get ready for posting”
“Okay I'll let you go then”
“Yeah see you tomorrow”

Steve
“Zora your home”
“Hello to you too”
“Sorry Hello”
“Yes I am home Dad got off work early”
“Okay well in that case I'm going to shower and I'll be over”
“Well then I'll fill you in on everything when you get here”
“Case?”
“Yeah 3 of them”
“Wonderful”
“I know right anyway I have to get back to work”
“Okay see you shortly”
“Love you”
“Love you too”

I hung up from Steve and wandered down into my office (which was the second bedroom). I started up my computer and my printer. I opened my emails and looked at our cases. There was 2 residential and a local business. Out of these 3 cases the furthest one and the most urgent one was in New Hampshire. Actually it was right near Dad and Uncle Jays inn which is cool. At least this time we wouldn't have to pay for accommodation. I printed out the case sheets and went over them The case near the Inn we needed to get to as soon as we could. I called Jay to see if I could organise it. Also there was a few things I needed to ask him.

“Hello Zora”
“Hi Jay I need to run a few work related things by you” I said
“Sure”
“First thing I've given each case a glance and I found one that needs our immediate attention and would also make for a good first case for training Kris and Amy”
“Can I have a run down?”
“That case is right near the Spalding Inn so I guess we're not paying for accommodation also we could so a secondary training day there for the girls”
“And the case?”
“We have a family Mum, Dad and an 18 month old girl they are scared that what ever is in the house is becoming violent and want to know if it's safe to raise their daughter there”
“What are the claims?”
“The client said it start with things moving around, odd sounds and shadows now things are being thrown and the baby monitor often ends up sitting at the foot of the bed when the mother clearly remembers placing it in the infants room”
“Make the case for this Saturday”
“Will do second is the last case we done was all the evidence filed away correctly?”
“Yes I know how particular you are I filed all the evidence myself”
“Recommendations for the residence?”
“There going to have the house cleansed if that doesn't work I asked them to call me and we'll organise a cleansing”
“I think that's best and the third thing is when is this trip to Europe?”
“In 2 weeks we fly out”
“Do you think we can fit in 2 cases before we leave?”
“The other case you want to do?”
“Another residential this time it's a guy whose inherited his childhood home and he feels like something is watching him all the time, he sees shadows and hears things, it's only started since he started renovating the place”
“Okay book it in”
“I'll bring everything in tomorrow for us to go over with everyone else”
“Oh also SyFy have asked to record the as a special behind the scenes look at the working of TAPS I figured it would be a good idea to have the whole announcements of Grant being your Dad and your relationship”
“That's fine by me”
“Okay I'll let you get back to work”
“Okay thanks”

I hung up and began organising the cases. First I would need to call up and organise then I can makes notes for the meeting tomorrow. I got on the most urgent case first. I scanned through the information to find a contact number for the family. I dialled the number provided and waited for an answer.

“Hello?”
“Hello is this Amanda Gardener?”
“Yes”
“Hi I'm Zora Hawes from TAPS”
“Oh hello it so good to hear from you I'm really on edge and I need your help”
“Well that's what we're here for, I'm actually calling to organise a time and I have a few questions I have to ask”
“That’s absolutely fine”
“We would like to come out this weekend if that's okay we can do it this Saturday”
“That would be perfect”
“Great now I must inform you that we have 2 investigators in training with us at the moment so we will be training them during the investigation”
“Okay”
“Also I need to know if there are any places in the house you would like us to stay out of”
“No you have complete access to the house”
“Okay then that's all we will have some paper work for you to sign on the day just to say we have permission to be on the property and we'll need you to organise accommodation for that night if you are unable to find a place to stay we can organise free accommodation at the Spalding Inn for you”
“We'll stay with my mother this weekend”
“Okay well that's all I need do you have any questions?”
“Actually I do, any evidence you get are we aloud to have a copy of it”
“If you want yes we can make a copy of it all for you”
“Also what happens after the case do you just investigate and show us the evidence and leave”
“Well after we've been over lead investigators Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson will sit down with you to discuss what we've found and what we can do from there”
“Okay well that’s all I wanted to know”
“Well if that's all I'll let you go and we'll see you this weekend”
“Okay see you then”
“Bye”

Just as I hung up Steve walked through the door. I ran over to him and jumped into his arms. We shared a long, sweet kiss before breaking apart.

“What was that for?” Steve smiled down at me
“I missed you” I smiled back
“I missed you too”

I pulled Steve down into my office and filled him in on the cases. Well not completely that would be done at the meeting tomorrow. Before I made the second call. I check my website so I could see what orders I would have to send out in the morning. I printed out the order summary's and handed them to Steve pointing him to the shelf’s and clothes racks around the room explaining to him that he needed to find the item listed a bag or box it would fit in, if it was breakable to wrap it in bubble wrap then place it in the bag or box. Write the person's name and address on the package then put it aside and do the next one. I had close to 30 orders, I would need to break them up send 10 one day 10 the next until I was back in a steady swing. It would cost way to much to send them all at once. While Steve was busy with that I made the last 2 calls and finished up the notes for tomorrows meeting. I then join Steve to get the packages done quicker and then I found them....all the orders I missed while in hospital all 64 of them. It was going to be a long night.
