The Belleville Mystery

02- The Warning

Later that night Amelia was in her room getting ready for the party later that night. She couldn't help but feel like something was going to happen that night, and what ever it was, wasn't good. She sighed as she finished straightening out her hair and then walked down the stairs.

"Mom, I'm going out with Melody tonight." Amelia said as she slipped on her hoodie.

"Actually, do you think that she would let you spend the night tonight? I have an important meeting tonight." said her mother as she slipped on a trench coat.

Amelia nodded, "She'd probably let me."

Her mother nodded, "Alright. Good night, I'll see you tomorrow sweetie." Her mother said as she kissed her on the forehead.

Amelia nodded, "Good night."

Her mother just closed the door as she walked outside. And Amelia waited for a minute before she turned the knob and exited the house. She seen her mother's car already half way down the street. So she waited until she seen her go around the corner and off onto the highway. She waved vainly and then began walking across the street to her friend's house.

Melody closed the door as she waved to Amelia, "Hey, I was just about to go get you. My mom said she's not going to be here tonight and wanted me to stay at your place."

"Yeah, my mom's not going to be home either. So we don't have a curfew tonight." Amelia shrugged as she began walking with Melody. "So that means we could stay late if you wanted to, besides tomorrow's Saturday."

Melody nodded, "Yeah. So how do I look?" asked Melody as she quickly twirled around for her friend.

Amelia couldn't help but giggle, "You look fantabulous my dear. Simply amazing as always."

Melody giggled, "I do, don't I? Well you look good too. So do you think Josh likes you?" asked Melody hoping to get some juicy info out of her.

Amelia shrugged, "Well, I don't know. I haven't really talked to him that much, just in Geometry, and that's it."

Melody pouted, "I never get to hear anything good."

They both stopped walking when they seen a billion cars parked in front of a fenced in mansion. The girls looked at each other excitedly before running towards the front gate.

"Do you have your invitation?" asked a big tall guy. He looked rather steroided out, and overly masculine.

Amelia pulled her invitation out of her pocket, "And it entitles me to one guest." She said with authority.

"Well with this lovely guest, you both can go anywhere." he said as he looked Melody over.

Both girls looked at each other momentarily as the guard let them inside the gates. He motioned towards the front of the mansion with a smile.

The girls immediately began giggling as they walked out of ear shot. "He's such a total pedophile." Amelia stated through her laughter.

"Shut up! That's was majorly creepy." Melody said as she shivered with disgust. "Stuff like that just makes my skin crawl."

"With desire maybe." Retorted Amelia.

"Shut up! That's so not funny." Melody added as she slapped Amelia playfully on the arm. "Gosh! I sometimes wonder why we're even friends at all."

"Because you're an introverted creep." Amelia said as she knocked on the door.

Melody shook her head, "You might be right, but I don't think so."

Amelia rolled her eyes as the door opened.

A boy stood there, "You guys here for the party?"

Amelia nodded, "Yeah, Josh invited me."

"Come in." The boy simply stated as he walked back inside.

The music was blaring and the lights were low. The entire place smelled of smoke, and oddly of weed. But the thing that caught Amelia's eye was a giant bowl of condoms and tiny lube pills right next to the bar. There was even a bar tender standing there with a white pressed shirt and black pants.

Melody walked over to the bar, "Can I have a Rasberry Vodka with Cranberry juice on the rocks."

The bar tender nodded silently as he looked at Amelia, "And anything for you, my dear?"

Amelia shrugged, she only knew of one drink that her mother always got. "I'll have a Long Island Iced Tea."

The bar tender nodded as he began preparing both of their drinks. Melody smiled widely as she waited for her drink. Once they were made he placed the glasses on top of small white napkins, "Enjoy."

"We don't have to pay?" asked Amelia. She always thought that you had to pay for drinks, hence why her mother didn't go to the bar too often.

"No, it's an open bar." Stated the bar tender.

Melody nodded, "Well you know how to make a killer drink. Thank you." She said as she sipped on her drink.

Amelia took a sip, "Well, thank you."

The bar tender just nodded as he wiped down the bar once again.

Amelia then began walking with Melody. They found a free couch to sit down on and they watched the scene around them. After a few hours Amelia began dancing with Melody. Some boys joined them later on and got them drinks.

Amelia suddenly got the urge to go to the bathroom. "I'll be back!" she yelled over the music to Melody.

Melody gave her the thumbs up and continued dancing with some random guy. Amelia turned around and began making her way to the bathroom, although she had no idea where that might be. She asked some girl that she remembered from her Algebra class where the bathroom was, and she pointed it out for her.

After Amelia had gone to the bathroom, she exited and began walking around to see who she could see. She seen the boys from the cafeteria walking out of the house. And that's when she seen a girl walk by her.

It couldn't be, could it? Amelia thought as she watched the girl.

The girl had pin straight honey blond hair that swooshed from the side and fell flat on her back once more. She wore a light grey long sleeve shirt that had rainbow printed tiny heart prints with dark blue jeans and white sneakers.

Amelia quickly walked towards the girl, "Anna?" she yelled.

The girl did not stop as she continued walking out of the house. So Amelia followed her. The girl turned around momentarily and her eyes locked onto Amelia momentarily.

Amelia stopped, she didn't know what it was, but something in Anna's eyes told her to stop. That she should just go back to the party and forget that she had ever seen her, but Amelia couldn't help her innate curiousity.

Anna turned around and ran from the house at an unnatural speed.

Amelia couldn't contain her surprise as she watched Anna jump over the gates and run into the forest. Amelia ran behind her and carefully climbed over the fence. She fell to the ground and broke out in a run.

She followed behind Anna. She could see her just yards ahead of her. Amelia had her hands out in front of her and brushed away various branches from her face. They both ran deeper and deeper into the forest.

Finally Amelia came to a clearing and didn't see anyone around at all. Suddenly she was thrown to a tree and held by her throat.

"You shouldn't have followed me!" hissed Anna as she stared maliciously at Amelia. Her features were smoother than the head shot that was circulating. She was more beautiful and obviously stronger.

Amelia could feel herself loosing consciousness, "I--I c-can't br-breathe." She managed to choke out.

Anna's gunmetal blue eyes softened as she dropped Amelia.

Amelia coughed as she held onto her throat. She looked up at Anna and didn't know what to think. She remembered that they used to be friends in middle school, but stopped when Anna began hanging out with some weird group of high school boys. She wouldn't ever go anywhere without them, and hardly left the house at all.

"What are you doing? Do you know that everyone is looking for you?" Inquired Amelia hotly as she finally caught her breath.

Anna's head dropped, "It's not like I chose this."

"What is there to choose? Your mother has been worried sick over you! Your father got fired because he missed a lot of work when he was leading search teams to look for you!" Amelia screamed.

Anna looked up at her and her eyes hardened once more, "You don't know anything! Do you think that I would want to be like this?"

"Like what?" Asked Amelia softly as she stood up.

Anna's eyes widened in panic, "You shouldn't be here. Go home! Go back! Leave at once before..."

But that's when a group of boys walked out from the other edge of the meadow. Amelia watched as the boys approached the two of them. She turned when she seen Anna kneel out of the corner of her eyes. Amelia backed up to the tree once more, but the leader walked towards Anna.

"What have you told her?" He hissed maliciously as he kicked some dirt into Anna's face.

Anna didn't flinch as she kept her head down, "I didn't tell her anything, Sir. Honestly, I was just telling her that it was a bad idea to follow me."

Amelia inhaled with fear as the leader turned to her. He was beautiful, though frightening. His raven black hair shined blue under the light of the full moon. His eyes glittered from the stars as they searched her eyes for something else.

"You're Melody's friend, aren't you?" he asked as he knelt down in front of her. He softly touched her cheek, but she pushed his hand away from her. "What's wrong? You're not afraid, are you?" He asked quietly.

Amelia looked up at him, "How do you know Melody?"

"We have our ways. We've been waiting for her." He simply replied as he grabbed her hand. He pulled it closer to his face and held her wrist under his nose. He inhaled deeply as if he were smelling for something.

She violently pulled back her arm and held it to herself, "What the fuck are you doing?"

"It seems that we must await for you too. Forget about tonight. Don't say a word to anyone about Anna. We must keep her a secret. And if you don't then you will find that your little world will be turned upside down. Got it?" He asked as he leaned closer.

He was so close that even in the pale moonlight, she managed to see what color his eyes were. They were a light olive green color, and she could see her reflection, like she was looking into a closed door. There were things hidden behind his eyes, but he had made sure that she didn't see them.

He blinked and then looked at her once again, "Do I make myself clear, Amelia?"

Amelia nodded quietly, "Yes." She managed to croak out.

"Good. I'm Gerard by the way, but please, stay out of the way. I wouldn't want to harm your pretty little face." He said as he stroked her cheek once more. He stood and turned away.

The other boys followed him along with Anna until the disappeared into the shadows of the forest once more.

Amelia stood and ran back to the party. She was determined to get Melody and head home. She had enough excitement for the night.
