Jackie's POV

We landed in California and the car ride was less than desirable for our circumstances. There was traffic everywhere, I had been nauseous all morning and the entire flight, and Maddy had been in and out of sleep versus crying her head off the entire trip. Matt was the only fine one the entire time. I couldn't help but realize how lucky I was to have such a rock in my life.

"When will we be in Long Beach?" I asked, caressing Maddy's head as Matt drove.

"The house is right up this street." He looked in the rearview mirror and smiled at me.

"Ok. Cuz she's out like a light, no ones coming over tonight are they?" I asked. He shook his head no "Ok, she'll be able to sleep, I think she's coming down sick."

"She needs sleep, next week we'll look in to daycares and social stuff. I'm just glad to be back near family. Now my parents can see her again."

I nodded, taking in the realization that my parents, Zack's parents, weren't exactly in the picture these days. Neither of us had talked to them since I'd been out of rehab, after the got rid of Maddy. I swallowed hard and pushed the tears from my eyes as we pulled into the driveway of the beach house. It was around eight at night and once we stepped out of the car I could hear the waves crashing on the beach behind the house. I slowly grabbed Maddy from the carseat she was strapped in to, and walked to the rear of the house. Matt began un packing the car from the distance I could hear him unlocking the front door.

I walked over to the sand and closed my eyes, holding Maddy close to me as I took in the scent of the salty air, the gritty sand slowly endeavouring between my toes, the warmth it had accumulated from being in the direct sunshine all day. I wrapped Maddy's blanket around her shoulders as she shifted in my arms. I placed my hand behind her neck and kissed her forehead, my eyes focussing out over the water as the sun had recently disappeared.

I sat down on the sand and kept her pressed against me. My child, the child who I was going to live every waking minute of my life for. I suddenly felt someone watching us and turned my head as Matt walked out. He placed a blanket around my shoulders and carefully wrapped it around the two of us, taking a seat next to me.

"It's so peaceful out here." I whispered as Maddy breathed steady against my neck.

"It is." Matt smiled, kissing my cheek "I'm the luckiest man alive, Jackie. I have the two most beautiful women in the world, and I get to spend the rest of my life with them." He smiled and looked at the ocean "I couldn't ask for more."

"I love you." I whispered as my eyes closed to the sound of a wave crashing against the sand infront of us. "I really love you, I'm so glad I have you, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you." I looked up at Matt and smiled "I love you forever."

"I love you forever and a day, so I never have to stop."

I smiled out at the water, running through my mind the short amount of time I had known this man, but how much of a difference he had made in my life so far. I was more than excited to see what was in store for us next.

Nope, it's not over. Sorry I haven't updated in a while, I keep getting halfway through a chapter and then erasing it because it wasn't good.
