Suffering Alone In Silence

Falling Apart

Gerard’s POV

Frank is really messed up.

This was the thought that ran through my head for the rest of the day. I walked out of his session with a dejected feeling settling in the pit of my stomach. I walked out to my newly bought car and sighed once I was inside, then with a final sigh I pulled out of the car park and made my way back to the high school. I made it my mission once I got there to go and find Mikey. I hadn’t seen or heard from him in a few days and I was worried that he was going to fall apart.

Upon finding out that Mikey was meant to be in English, I made my way to his room. I knocked on the door then entered. The teacher looked at me expectantly.

“Sorry, but can I see Mikey please?” I asked.

“Sure, Mikey your dismissed.” She replied.

I smiled a polite smile and thanked the teacher then closed the door behind me once Mikey was outside the door.

“How are you doing little bro.” I asked, quietly.

“Honestly?” He asked.

I shrugged my shoulders.

“Not very well.” He admitted.

I took note of his unkempt appearance when he allowed our eye’s to meet briefly. I took note of how tired he looked, the bloodshot eyes, his untidy hair, and his crumpled clothes. I could almost be certain that he was back on the drugs again.

“Talk to me then.” I replied after a while, as we reached my office.

“Where do I begin?” He asked, his voice wavering slightly.

Without warning he burst into hysterical sobbing. I got up off my chair and went over to him and wrapped my arms around him tightly.

“Shhh, baby bro, he’s going to be just fine.” I whispered.

I was simply hoping I would be right.

After a while Mikey calmed down enough for me to release him from the tight embrace.

“How about I take you home?” I asked.

He simply nodded.

“Take a few days off to gather yourself, and I’ll sit around with you and you can talk or cry or just sleep. I’ll take you to see Frankie and then we might go up to New York and I’ll buy you whatever you want.”

He smiled weakly.

“Ok” He agreed.

I smiled back comfortingly.

“You will be amazed at how much better Frankie is looking. He’s mentally stable and has gained weight” I continued, hoping to make him feel better.

“Could I be able to talk with him alone? There’s something’s I need to say.” He asked.

“I can arrange that.” I replied.

Nothing more was said. I took him to the office, signed him and me out and we got in my car and went home.
