Chapter 16
Somehow, my feet led me to the tree Nick and I sat under. I put my right hand on its trunk as I tried my breathing exercises.
“Rose!” I heard him say.
Nick reached me in under a minute.
“Are you OK?” he asked.
I shook my head.
“Another heart pain?” he asked.
I nodded. He stepped closer to me and held me closer, rubbing my back lightly.
His scent traveled up my nostrils.
“Mel told me what happened”, he said.
The pain subsided, but I didn't move out of Nick's arms.
“Did you tell her-”, I began, but he cut across me.
“No, I didn't.. she's worried, though”, he said solemnly.
“I should tell her, shouldn't I?” I asked, already knowing the answer.
“Yeah”, he replied.
“Will you be there with me?” I asked, feeling like a child.
“Mm-hmm”, he answered.
“So, what did Victoria say to you before Mel arrived?” he asked.
I froze. Damn. Mel wasn't there and he didn't know, either.
“Nothing”, I lied.
Nick pulled away from me and looked into my eyes. My heartbeat quickened. He leaned in a little bit, but stopped. Sighing after a few moments, he spoke.
“We should head back”, he said, pulling out his Blackberry. “We have 30 minutes until class starts”, he said, rubbing the back of his neck.
Was he... nervous?
“Yeah”, I said dumbly.
Yeah? What kind of response is that? Ugh.
“Rose!” I heard him say.
Nick reached me in under a minute.

*yawns* Sorry. OK, so it's like, early for me even though it's 9:00 A.M. I apologize at how short this chapter is, but I only have one more update before I take a break from this story to write more, then, type, and finally update.I've been lazy lately since I've been busy with other stuff and barely have had enough time to write, so if it takes more than a week, I apologize now in advance.
Please don't unsubscribe. I will definitely have a double post the next time, which should be in a few days. Hopefully, not by the time I have to update Soul Exposure III. Things get a little hectic when I have to update two stories at the same time.
OK. Um, so, I've been thinking lately about my third story that I've been wanting to post on Mibba, but I'm kind of hesitant since I don't want to end up getting stuck at a certain point like I have with this story, which was created on a simple idea. I don't know. Maybe I'll have an excerpt or something from it. I haven't decided yet. But, that's where you guys come in. If you think I should write another story, then, by all means, let me know, please.
