Handful Of Moments

And A Tongue Like A Nightmare;

Josie sat silently in her new Chrysler Crossfire her dad bought her yesterday. She was parked in her driveway, just lost in thought. She was not ready for another therapy session; she’s debating to be sick for this coming Sunday. Jose nearly jumped out of her seat when there was another body next to her.

“Holy shit,” she exclaimed laughing.

Alex chuckled, “Am I scary looking?” She shook her head no. “So nice car, yours?”

She nodded.

“Why’d you get it?” He asked.

“I’m-Sorry-About-Forgetting-My-Own-Daughter’s-Birthday gift,” she sighed.

Alex cocked your eyebrow, “When was it?”

“Last week Sunday,” Josie fiddled with her fingers.

“WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME?!” Alex shook her.

She kept giggling, “I don’t know.”

“Well we’re gonna do something for your birthday,” he smiled cheekily.

---

“Alex, get out of my closet,” Josie giggled.

“You have nothing,” he exclaimed throwing some clothes at her.

“Sorry?” She threw the clothes back at him.

He grabbed her hand and dragged her, “C’mon let’s go.”

She shrugged and went with him. Jose trusted him enough that she doesn’t need to ask any questions. Though as they went onto the highway, Josie started to wonder where they were going.

“So where are we going?” Alex answered with a crooked smile.

---

Alex was sitting on the couch that was in the dressing room. He anticipated what Josie was going to look like in the short black dress he picked out for her. What she didn’t know was that he was going to take her to a party. Alex knew they both needed to have some fun that included ridiculously loud music and drinks containing alcohol.

“Alex,” he heard her whine.

“What? Just c’mon out, Jojo,” he smiled.

“I don’t want to,” Josie complained.

“C’mon, it probably looks fine,” Alex tried to persuade her.

He smiled when he heard the doorknob click. He succeeded. As Alex saw her walk out in the little number, it brought back memories of his ex, Lisa. He couldn’t help but imagine Lisa in this. Alex shook his head and saw an uncomfortable girl in front of him. The dress’s hem was barely past half her upper thigh and her chest was about to pop out of the top. The little black dress hugged every curve of her body not perfectly but seductively.

“I do not like this,” her voice was low.

Alex shook his head, “Me either. Try on the one you picked out.” Alex smiled at her as she nodded holding the back of the dress down so Alex couldn’t see what kind of underwear she was wearing.

Josie stared at herself in the mirror in the dress Alex picked out. She’s not going to lie; she looked hot. If it were only three months earlier, Josie would buy this in a heartbeat. Though she felt too exposed now. Jose was glad Alex didn’t spot the boxes to the side of her closet cause that’s where her old clothes were.

“What’s taking so long?” She heard his voice, which broke her train of thought.

“Hold it in your pants,” Jose laughed.

She quickly undressed from the black dress to a mid-length blue and black plaid button up dress. Josie slid a sparkly black bow belt around her tiny waist and unbuttoned some of the buttons to show a lacey cami underneath. This time when she looked in the mirror she felt confident.

Alex averted his eyes to the girl standing in plaid dress, which fit her well. The belt showed off her very tiny waist. He enjoyed this dress; it wasn’t slutty, like his dress, but beautiful on her. The length of the dress was just a few inches above the knee and the blue complimented her bright blue eyes.

“Let’s get it!” Alex stood up.

Josie frowned, “But I didn’t bring money.”

“Birthday present,” Alex pulled out his parents’ credit card.

“But-,”she was caught off by Alex.

“No if’s, but’s, or and’s. Just do what I say,” he chuckled pushing her into her stall.

---

Alex pulled up in a driveway that was familiar to him, but strange to Josie. Josie looked at him with a confused look. He gave her a comforting smile before he got out. He quickly moved to the other side to open the door for Jojo.

“Party?” She asked as they heard the hum of the bass.

“Yeah, I thought we deserved some fun,” he answered.

Jose showed a smile, “Okay, but please don’t leave me cause I don’t know where I am.” She held out her pinky and he wrapped his around her skinny finger.

As soon as they entered the door it seemed all eyes were on them; well mostly Alex. Alex grabbed Josie’s hand and held her hand tight as they made their way through the crowd. Alex kept feeling tighter squeezes from Josie, is she nervous?

As they reached the kitchen he pulled her to the side, “Are you nervous?”

His hot breath felt good against her skin but had to realize she had to respond and she nodded.

“Don’t worry you’re with me and this is my friend’s house, his name is Jack.” His hot breath trailed her skin and she wanted to be closer to him. He hugged her as she buried her head to his chest. “C’mon let’s have some fun. Want alcohol or no?”

“Alcohol, sir,” Josie smiled. Alex smiled and mixed the desired drinks.

---

Within a few hours and a few strong drinks Josie was pretty close to her old habits once more. She swayed to the music on the dance floor. The room was spinning and unclear, but she felt safe still. Josie deliberately ditched Alex just because he wouldn’t give her another drink. Josie needed this, needed a little alcohol.

“Alex?” Jack slurred.

Alex smiled seeing his hammered friend, “Hey Jack.”

“I-I-I haven’t seen you in forever man. Bro, do you know how much I loooove you?” Jack clung onto Alex’s neck.

“Yes, but go find a chick to share that love,” Alex smirked.

Jack let go and hugged Alex, “Great idea! See that’s why we’re friends.”

Jack walked to kitchen to find shit-faced girl. Alex was looking for Josie; she left when he didn’t give her another drink. He wondered where this behavior came from, he never imagined her as a partier. Alex finally spotted her in the sea of people dancing. He went through the crowd and tapped her shoulder. She turned around smiling then noticed it was him and she crossed her arms.

“What?” He chuckled showing that crooked smirk of his.

“I’m mad at you and that c-c-cute smmmirk of yours,” she poked his nose.

He cocked an eyebrow, “Oh really? Well I think you’re drunk,” but the word cute was stuck in his head.

“Bitch, you’re the one who’s drunk,” she hiccupped. Alex laughed and turned her around to start dancing with her. Her feet stopped, “I-I-I told you I was mad at you!”

“Show me how mad?” She amused him when she’s drunk. But one of the most unexpected things happened; her lips crashed onto his. He closed his eyes and moved his lips with her warm soft lips. He couldn’t help but moan a little and lose track of whatever was going on, but he suddenly pulled away. Alex was the most sober one out of the two; he couldn’t take advantage of her.

She pouted, “You don’t like me?”

Alex shook his head, “I do like you, but you’re drunk Josie. We can’t do this.”

“Why?” She whined leaning against his body.

“Because you’re drunk,” he was starting to get frustrated.

Josie intertwined her fingers with his dragging him through the crowds. She led him upstairs to an empty bedroom.

“You probably wanted to be somewhere private,” she smirked her hands slowly unbuttoning her dress.

“Stop, Jojo! You don’t get it! I like you, but you’re drunk. Dammit,” Alex yelled.

Her hands dropped to the side, “Y-y-you like m-me?” Josie whispered as he nodded. She sat by him wrapping her small arms around him, “I like you, too, Alex.”

Alex sighed, “Jojo, you don’t mean it. C’mon let’s just lay down.”

She obliged but before her tired eyes closed she whispered into his ears, “I maybe drunk, but I’m telling you the truth. I really do like you, Alex.”

Alex brought her closer to him. He sighed knowing he will be the only one to remember this night.
