Tear

A tear in my eye
And a tear in my heart
You told me that we
Would never be apart.

Glistening drops of silver fell from her eyes and splattered onto the dirt. Her heart shattered, lying painfully in her chest, broken into a million pieces.

Her chest heaved as she sobbed quietly, shaking her small frame.

Why? she wondered. But life goes on, even as tragedies break their way through people's lives.

She set down the bouquet of lilies gently on the ground and slowly walked away from her mother's grave.
