The diagnosise

Marian grew fast, and soon she was three years of age. She seemed healthy to me, but I am not a doctor. My parents were concerned because of her late development socially. They promptly contacted a doctor. She was diagnosed with autism. Mind you I was only six. I had no clue what autism was or what was the big deal was. My mom described the situation using simple six-year-old words.
"Gracie, your sister has something called autism." I glanced up at her perplexed, wouldn't you? I still let her finish though.
"It makes it harder for her to grow up. It will be harder for her to do a lot of things. I will need your help a lot now." Thats how things were. My job was to help my household, not to do things that other kids did. I didn't know how much a disorder could change me. Now I know, but then it never accured to me what would happen.
