Everything is You

1/1

“Quinn!” Quinn turned around slowly, glancing over her shoulder to spot the person who had just called her name. Of course, she knew who it was as soon as they had shouted her name. There was no mistaking Puck’s voice.

“Yes?” She asked, feigning annoyance. He smirked that over confident, cocky smirk that Quinn had grown to know so well and walked over to her.

“You. Me. The Glee assignment. Partners?” He asked, leaning against the wall as he watched her put her stuff in her bag. She smiled slightly, turning back around to pack up her stuff before answering.

“Sure, Puck.” Quinn finally answered, glancing up at him and smiling warmly. “I’d like that.”
His smirk was replaced with a smile, a rare but genuine smile.

“Cool.” He said, grinning now. Quinn picked up her bag and smiled.

“Walk with me to my locker with me?” She asked, looking at Puck. He nodded.

“Sure.” He said, pushing off the wall and wrapping one arm around her shoulders. Normally Quinn would have shrugged him off, or glanced around to make sure Finn wasn’t looking, but instead she just leaned into him, resting her head on his shoulder as they walked into the hallway. Quinn wasn’t feeling as energetic as usual; all the baby drama (and the baby itself) had been draining her lately, physically and emotionally.

Puck noticed the difference in Quinn’s attitude, and it worried him. She hadn’t been as snappy or rude lately, and while he didn’t mind it, he wondered just what she was going through. He knew it had to be tough, getting kicked out of her house and then Finn’s a few weeks later. And it was his entire fault. He held her a little closer, feeling the now familiar gut feeling of guilt.

They got to her locker, and he leaned against the locker next to hers as she spun the dial lock and opened it.

“I picked out a song I want to show you.” He said, smiling slightly. She glanced at him, an amused smile playing at her lips.

“You already picked out a song? I’m impressed. You’re actually taking initiative.” Quinn teased, laughing. Puck laughed, leaning forward to kiss her forehead.

“I’m not always a lazy bum, Quinn.” Quinn laughed again.

“I can see that now.” She was vaguely aware of Finn standing in the hallway a few feet away from them, but for once, she wasn’t troubled by it. Puck was here now, and it seemed that for the moment, everything would be alright. Quinn had started to take on a live-in-the-moment attitude, because for the most part it helped her not stress out. Of course, she couldn’t help but think about the future occasionally (and who could blame her, she was having a baby), but as long as she tried to just live in the moment she could relax, if only for a few seconds.

“When you’re done we could go to the auditorium so I can show you the song.” Puck said, his eyes always on Quinn. He was elated that she finally trusted him with being a father. He may not have always shown his complete and utter adoration for the baby and Quinn, but it was always there.

“Sure.” Quinn said, taking out the books she would need for later and putting away the ones that she didn’t. Out of the corner of her eye, she watched Finn walk down the hallway in her and Puck’s direction along with…Rachel. Quinn had forced herself to at least treat the girl with some civility, seeing as she helped them at Sectionals. She also knew that it was Rachel who had told Finn about the baby. She still wasn’t sure how she felt about that.

Quinn’s eyes widened and then narrowed when she saw Finn pull Rachel into a hug for a brief second; pulling away with the dopey smile Quinn had loved. She glared at Rachel for a short second before turning around to close her locker.

“Don’t worry about them.” Puck muttered, putting his arm protectively around Quinn’s waist. She shook her head, closing her locker and nodding, smiling up at Puck.

“Let’s go look at that song now.” She said. He grinned widely, leaning down to kiss her quickly before pulling her away from her locker, moving towards the auditorium. Quinn followed him, leaning into him again as they walked. Something about Puck made her feel safe. Perhaps it was his warmth, or the way he held her close to him, but something about him made Quinn feel like she was finally safe.

They walked into the empty auditorium, their shoes making loud noises that echoed through the large space. Puck led Quinn over to the piano bench and made her sit down. He pulled the sheet music out of his backpack. It was slightly crumpled and Quinn chuckled quietly at it as she took it from his hand. Puck slid into the piano bench next to her, putting his fingers on the keys.

“I didn’t know you could play.” Quinn said with a hint of surprise in her voice.

“I can’t. Just this song.” Puck admitted, glancing back down at the keys. Quinn smiled warmly. He had learned this song just for them.

Puck began playing; setting the sheet music in front of him so he could read and play at the same time. Quinn quickly glanced at the song title. Lay All Your Love On Me. She smiled slightly, noting where the girl part came in.

I wasn't jealous before we met
Now every man that I see is a potential threat
And I'm possessive, it isn't nice
You've heard me saying that smoking was my only vice
But now it isn't true
Now everything is new
And all I've learned
Has overturned
I beg of you

Puck began to sing, his voice echoing through the auditorium. Quinn loved to hear him sing. It rarely happened, but when it did it always made her heart skip two beats and she couldn’t help but smile. He glanced down at her as he sang, grinning widely as he did so.

Don't go wasting your emotion
Lay all your love on me
It was like shooting a sitting duck
A little small talk, a smile and baby I was stuck
I still don't know what you've done with me
A grown-up woman should never fall so easily
I feel a kind of fear
When I don't have you near
Unsatisfied
I skip my pride
I beg you dear

Quinn began singing, smiling as she did so. The lyrics fit her and Puck perfectly. It was as if he had gone inside her head and heard her most secret thoughts about how safe she felt around him, about how she knew she shouldn’t love him and yet she did, and found the song to go with it. She sang with more confidence, keeping her eyes locked onto Puck’s as she did so.

Don't go wasting your emotion
Lay all your love on me
Don't go sharing your devotion
Lay all your love on me

Puck sang, lifting his hands off the piano and getting off the piano bench, moving around Quinn to sit on the other side. She laughed quietly as he grinned, laying his head down on her lap, staring up at her.

I've had a few little love affairs
They didn't last very long and they've been pretty scarce

Quinn sang down to him, smiling like a little girl in love. She couldn’t help but sing her heart out to him; he made her feel like she couldn’t do anything wrong.

I used to think that was sensible
It makes the truth even more incomprehensible

Puck sat up straight as he sang, standing up and going around to Quinn’s back, wrapping his arms around her waist, conscious of her bump, singing into her ear. She smiled, leaning into his touch, closing her eyes as she listened to him sing.

'Cause everything is new
And everything is you
And all I've learned
Has overturned
What can I do?

Quinn turned around, sliding off the bench to stand in front of Puck. She sang as she moved towards him, watching as that ever-cocky Puck smirk came onto his face. She matched it with one of her own, finally reaching him and wrapping her arms around his neck as she finished her note.

Don't go wasting your emotion
Lay all your love on me
Don't go sharing your devotion
Lay all your love on me

Puck sang to her, wrapping his arms around her waist as he looked down at her, a smirk on his face but love in his eyes.

Don't go wasting your emotion
Lay all your love on me
Don't go sharing your devotion
Lay all your love on me

Quinn sang the last note of the song and then the room was filled with silence. Puck stared down at her before leaning down and kissing her softly. It was different than other kisses they had shared, this one was filled with warmth and love and adoration and a promise to never leave or abandon her. She kissed him back with her own promise to never doubt him, filling the kiss with complete trust and knowledge that she was in love with him.

They pulled away after a few short seconds, and Quinn hugged him, resting her head on his chest. Puck smiled, a genuine, heartfelt smile, kissing the top of her head.

“I love you, Noah.” Quinn said softly.

“I love you too, Quinn.”
