Scream Me a Dream

Chapter 30: Impi

Ville watched in amusement as Soya watched the stage in excitement, mouthing each word in time with Jyrki, but never singing the words aloud. When they’d first come on stage, she’d kissed his cheek, and had hugged Bam telling him the their truce was definitely in effect and everything was forgiven, before sitting back down and keeping her eyes glued to the stage, absorbing every detail of the impromptu concert.

“Now,” Jyrki said into the microphone. “I’ve heard that a good friend of mine is here tonight, and was wondering if he would do me the honor of joining me on stage for the last song of the night, Ville? Are you out there?”

Ville looked over at Soya, and saw her grinning at him. “Go!” She laughed, pushing him out of the booth. Soya grinned as she watched him make his way through the crowd amidst the screams of fans, before he hopped up on stage with Jyrki and the rest of the guys.

“Nice surprise huh?”

Soya looked over her shoulder and smiled at Dunn as he slid in next to her, Missy and Bam having gone to watch the concert among the rest of the crowd near the stage.

“Amazing.” She said, turning back when she heard the opening chords to ‘Wasting the Dawn’. She bit down on her bottom lip as she caught Ville’s gaze as he and Jyrki sang together.

“He likes you.”

She tore her gaze away from Ville and looked over at Dunn in confusion. “Ville?”

Dunn laughed and gave a nod. “I’ve known Ville awhile now, I’ve never seen him this protective about a chick before, not even Jonna. He likes you.”

Soya shrugged and turned back to the stage. “We’re friends; of course he’s protective of me.”

“No,” Dunn laughed scooting closer to her. “I mean he really likes you.”

Soya turned, and raised an eyebrow, as she smelled the alcohol on his breath. “You, Mr. Dunn, are drunk.”

“Perfectly lucid.” Dunn told her. “He likes you, and it is definitely as more than just a friend, just like. You. Like. Him.” Dunn said punctuating his words.

Soya frowned at him. “I-”

“Thank you Westchester.” Jyrki’s deep voice interrupted her. “We are the Helsinki Vampires, The 69 Eyes, and we fucking love you!”

She turned back to Dunn, only to find him gone and when she turned back on stage she saw Jyrki whispering something to Ville, before they both waved at the crowd and stepped off stage, Jyrki to what she assumed was the back room while Ville braved the crowd and made his way back to the table.

“Come on.” Ville grinned once he made it to the booth holding out his hand.

“Where to?” Soya asked, sliding out of the booth carefully and grabbing his hand. She turned and grabbed her purse off the seat, when she looked back up she saw Dunn at the bar, smirking into his drink at her.

“Just come on.” Ville laughed tugging her, only to slow down when he remembered her ankle. He wrapped his arm around her waist, keeping her close and maneuvering her around the crowd leading her towards a door that led backstage.

“Ready?” Ville teased opening the door.

Soya laughed, “Definitely.”

He pushed her gently through the door before following her and leading her backstage, where the rest of the band was.

“There she is!” Jyrki’s deep voice said with a grin before bringing her into a hug. “Between everything Rosalind and Impi say about you, I feel like I already know you.”

Soya laughed, returning the hug. “Same goes for me. It’s great to finally meet you face to face, and not just hear the deep voice over the phone when you answer Rosalind’s phone.”

“I really can’t believe that it’s taken me nearly six years to meet Rosalind’s best friend.” Jyrki told her when they finally pulled away.

“Between all the friends Ville and I have in common I find it hard to believe we didn’t find each other sooner.” Soya laughed. “Rosalind’s only had such kind things to say about all of you.”

Jyrki raised an eyebrow and laughed. “Then I would talk to her again, I’m in her shit list right now.”

Soya laughed. “Now that’s quite a feat Mr. 69,” she teased. “How in the world did you manage that?”

Jyrki smirked. “I stole her daughter.” He said as he pointed towards the couch where the five year old was running away from Timo-Timo who was chasing her around the couch.

“Oh my god, you’ve created your own little vampire.” Ville laughed as he noticed the outfit she was wearing.

A black lace dress that fell to her knees, red tights covering her legs and her red ruby slippers glittered as she ran, a red flower brooch pulled her straight black hair back away from her face, while the silver bangle bracelets that she had on each wrist clinked as she ran.

Soya held her laugh when she noticed the fake fangs that she had in her mouth as Timo caught her and threw her over his shoulder at Baize, who pretended to miss her only to cuddle her to his chest as she laughed.

“She dressed herself.” Jussi smirked as he walked over to them, grinning at Soya. “You must be Soya, both Rosalind and Ville won’t stop saying how amazing you are.”

“I’m far from amazing.” She glared at Ville. “Seriously, stop telling people that.”

“I only speak the truth.” Ville teased.

Jussi laughed. “I’m sure they weren’t exaggerating. I’m Jussi.”

“Oh trust me, I know.” Soya laughed and accepted the hug he offered. “Rosalind talks so highly of all of you.”

“Not as much as- ow!” Jussi yelped when he felt something clamp down on the back of his knee, causing it to buckle. “What the fu-” He cut himself off when he saw Impi biting down on the back of his knee, looking up at him with her bright blue eyes.

“Impi!” Jyrki called with a glare as he pulled her off Jussi. “What in the world are you doing?!”

She looked at him in disbelief, as if he were crazy for asking. “I’m feeding!”

Ville stifled his laughter, covering his mouth with his hand to hide it, while Soya watched amused as Jussi pulled Impi out from under Jyrki’s hands and lifted her up, settling her on his hip. “You don’t go around biting peoples knees Impi!” Jussi said with a groan. “All the blood is in the wrist!” he grinned at her, offering his wrist to her.

“Ah!” she laughed, before giving a playful hiss and clamping down on his wrist, the plastic fangs bending as she bit down. Jussi gave a theatrical groan and stumbled back, staggering to the couch and falling back, causing Impi to laugh as she straddled his chest and looked over at Jyrki. “I’m full!”

Jyrki rubbed his face with his hand, trying to hide his amusement, out of the corner of his eye he saw Soya searching her small clutch purse.

“Did you lose something?” he asked her.

“Nope.” Soya laughed as she produced a tube of lipstick. “I’m just completing the outfit. Impi!”

“Auntie Soya!” Impi laughed, finally taking notice of Soya, as she scrambled off Jussi and ran towards her.

Soya bent down, kissing the girl’s cheek and grinned at her. “Go like this.” Soya said, puckering her lips and showing Impi what to do. The guys in the room watched in amusement as Impi puckered her lips like Soya, causing Soya to giggle as she uncapped the lipstick and applied it to Impi’s lips. The blood red made the little girl’s pouty lips fuller and redder as if she really had just fed. Soya then drew a thin line from the corner of Impi’s mouth down to the girls chin.

“Ah!” Soya laughed, capping the lipstick. “Now you look like a vampire!”

Impi looked over at Jyrki. “Do I isi?!”

Jyrki grinned and picked her up, settling her on his hip. “You really do!”

The door to the dressing room slammed open to reveal Bam, Missy and the rest of his gang. “What’s going on fuckers?!” he asked with a grin.

“What’s-” Impi started, only for Jyrki to cut her off.

“Ah! What have I told you about the big people words?”

Impi nodded. “I know.” She sighed before giving a big yawn.

“Who’s the kid?” Bam asked walking over to them, just as Impi rested her head on Jyrki’s shoulder, her eyes starting to close.

“I’m kind of hurt.” Ville said looking down at Soya who grinned up at him.

“Why?” she asked with a laugh.

“Impi said ‘hi’ to you, she didn’t even look at me.”

Jyrki lifted his hip, bouncing Impi, causing her to raise her head sleepily. “Say ‘hi’ to your uncle Ville, you’ve hurt his feelings.” He teased.

Impi blinked, her gaze settling on Ville, before smiling and lifting her arms. Jyrki passed her with ease over to Ville, who supported her with an arm under her bottom so she was sitting on his arm while her tiny legs wrapped around his torso, her head falling on his shoulder. “Hi” she breathed before closing her eyes.

“Happy now?” Jyrki laughed.

“Ecstatic.” Ville grinned.

“No, seriously, who’s the kid? And why is she wearing fangs?” Bam asked looking at the little girl oddly.

“Right the fangs.” Jyrki muttered to himself, walking behind Ville and carefully opening Impi’s mouth and taking the fangs out before they dislodged and she choked on them. “Her name’s Impi, she’s the daughter of a friend of ours.” He said to Bam, pocketing the plastic fangs.

“So how did you guys end up with her?” Soya asked, running her hand down her goddaughter’s hair. “Rosalind hates having her out of her sight.”

Jussi laughed as he walked back over to them. “She snuck onto our bus.”

“She did what?” Ville asked with a laugh.

“Wait.” Bam said. “She’s the stowaway?”

Jyrki nodded. “Impi is our stowaway. Rosalind called me in a panic after we left LA, saying she couldn’t find Impi and they’d searched the bus and venue a million times over. Apparently, before their set she’d tucked Impi in and left her with one of the security guards like she usually does; I guess the guard got distracted by some ruckus outside and Impi woke up looking for us, she then wandered into our bus.”

“Oh God.” Soya laughed.

Bam frowned, as he remembered the distracted conversation he’d had with Jussi. “So that’s why you were distracted when I called the other day.”

“We were on the road, had no way of even looking for her, we were worried.” Jussi shrugged then smirked. “But I found her in my bunk.”

Jyrki rolled his eyes and looked back at Soya. “He’s forgetting that he hadn’t noticed her before because of the mess he has in there, he found her under the covers sleeping. Lucky for us, Rosalind called me first instead of the police; otherwise we’d probably be arrested for kidnapping.”

Soya laughed. “I bet Rosalind demanded you take her back.”

Jyrki grinned. “You do know Rosalind well, she did. But we were too far out from LA to be able to turn back around, take Impi back and make our gig on time.”

“How long do you have her for?” Bam asked, still looking at the pale five year old who was sleeping on Ville’s shoulder.

“Until August, when our tours meet up again.” Jyrki shrugged. “It’s not the first time Impi’s traveled with us; I very much doubt it’ll be the last.”

“I bet she’s a handful.” Soya laughed, adjusting her weight on her foot with a small wince, which caught Ville’s eye.

“Kulta, sit down.” Ville said, motioning for the couch.

“Yes, please sit. Sorry.” Jyrki laughed. “We got so excited to meet you; we forgot the few manners we do have.”

“I’m fine.” Soya said, though she moved to the couches with Jyrki, Jussi and Ville who still held Impi. “Ville’s just being over protective.” She said with a roll of her eyes as she sat next to him, Jyrki next to her on another couch.

“She hurt her ankle.” Ville explained at Jyrki’s raised eyebrow. “She’s supposed to be using crutches to keep the weight off, but she convinced me it was best if she didn’t tonight.”

Jyrki smiled at Soya. “Rosalind said you have a way with words.”

Soya shook her head. “Rarely.” She looked at Ville before smirking at Jyrki. “I’ve just got this one wrapped around my finger.”

“You do know that Rosalind’s been trying to set you both up for years?” Jyrki asked with his own smirk.

“We figured it out.” Soya laughed as Ville got sucked into a conversation with Jussi and Bam.

“Hey, we’re heading towards the bar, do you guys want anything?” Timo asked, as he came to stand next to Jyrki.

“Timo, this is Soya, Soya Timo-Timo.” Jyrki introduced.

“It’s nice to finally meet you!” Timo grinned, leaning down to give her a hug.

“Same here!” Soya smiled.

“Anything to drink?” He asked.

“I’m fine, thank you.” Soya answered, Timo turned to Jyrki who shook his head in the negative. Timo gave her a wave goodbye and a grin, before joining Baize and Archzie at the door and heading towards the bar, only to be followed by Bam’s crew as well as Bam and Missy when Bam figured out that they probably wouldn’t be partying backstage, what with a five year old sleeping on Ville.

Jyrki grinned at her. “So how did you meet Rosalind?”

“She hasn’t told you?” Soya asked with a frown.

“Just that she beat up American bitches for you.” Jyrki laughed, causing Soya to blush.

“Oh God, Rosalind!” Soya groaned with a shake of her head.

“It is true?” Jussi asked with a grin. “Did she beat up girls for you? And if so, tell us how in vivid detail.”

Soya laughed. “She did, well,” she amended. “There was no bloodshed or punches thrown that I know of, just a few shoves. She was my roommate in Juilliard; we were just in different programs.” Soya explained. “I was having trouble with a few of the girls in some of my classes that also attended the same prep school, Rosalind found out when she found me hiding in the bathroom of our room, told Josef and scared them off. I never saw how.”

“How do you know there was shoving, then?” Jussi asked.

“Because Josef walked into the room laughing, saying how great it was when Rosalind shoved Amanda, one of the girls, into the pool. It’s how Rosalind and I became so close.” Soya told them with a grin. “She was two years older, and decided to take me under her wing, of course, that only lasted about six months before she went back to Spain, but we never lost the closeness.”

“She misses you a lot.” Jyrki told her, “So does that one.” He said motioning his chin toward Impi.

“I haven’t seen them in almost three years, I think that last time I saw them was in Chicago.” Soya mused, thinking back before giving a nod. “Chicago. Revolution had a show one night that Josef and I went to then she came to our next performance with Impi; but we e-mail, video chat, call, send each other things, whenever we get a chance.”

Jyrki frowned as he thought about what she’d just said. “Are you the one she buys all the soy sauce for?”

Soya blushed again. “You’ve seen her do that?”

Ville frowned. “I’ve seen her do that too, every time she sees a bottle, she gets excited.”

Soya laughed, “It’s a joke, when she first met me and heard my name she laughed.”

“Why?” Jyrki asked with an amused smirk,

“Soya in Spanish is soy, like the soy bean, or soy sauce.” Soya shook her head. “Rosalind got a kick out of my being named after a sauce, so as a ‘Welcome to America’ present, as she loves to call it, she got me a bottle of soy sauce. Now, every time an important event comes up in my life that she knows about, she sends me a bottle, but they’re not just any type of bottles. She ends up finding the most unique bottles of the sauce and sending them to me.”

“I’ve seen some of them.” Jyrki nodded. “Where she finds them, I have no idea.”

“She makes it a mission to find me the weirdest or most unique bottles ever. Without fail I’ll get one every year on my birthday.” Soya told him. “But I’ll send her…”

“The snow globes.” Jyrki said, remembering the collection of snow globes that were all over Rosalind’s apartment. “You send her those?”

Soya nodded. “When we first met she’d told me she’d never seen snow. I thought that was sad, seeing as I saw snow all the time in Finland.”

“You’re Finnish?!” Jussi asked in surprise, causing Jyrki and Ville to laugh.

“Ignore Jussi.” Jyrki laughed. “So how did the snow globes start?”

Soya shrugged, “Snow in New York doesn’t count to me. It’s just…it doesn’t count.” She laughed. “So as a ‘Thank You for Scaring Off the American Girls’ gift, as I like to call it, I gave her a snow globe I’d found in some shop, it was of the Helsinki Cathedral. I told her that until she visited Helsinki it was the best I could do in the snow department. Now every time I travel somewhere and I find an amusing snow globe, I get it for her. For Impi it’s nesting dolls.”

“I have definitely seen Impi’s doll collection.” Jyrki laughed, thinking of the Russian nesting dolls that were also littered all over Impi’s room. “And I’m proud to say that Rosalind has seen Helsinki snow.”

Soya breathed a sigh of relief, though her grin gave away the teasing. “So glad to hear that.”

“I’m assuming you already knew that?” Jyrki laughed.

“She sent me a picture from what I believe was your balcony.” Soya teased, raising an eyebrow.

Jyrki nodded, remembering the first time he had taken Rosalind to Helsinki to meet his family and how excited she had been about the snow. “It was, she was very excited about it.”

“Have you told Soya how you met Rosalind?” Ville smirked, adjusting Impi in his arms, so she was sitting in his lap, with her head resting on his chest. “Jeez she’s out like a light.”

“She crashed.” Jyrki told him, while sending a glare to Jussi, who gave a grin. “Someone left her on the bus alone after I told them not too and she downed three Red Bulls, she’s been vibrating ever since.”

“Hey, she told me that she’d only had one.” Jussi defended. “The kid is smart,” Jussi told Soya and Ville. “She knows to hide things in my area of the bus now, and knows no one will find it until later.”

“I found the other two cans when Jussi came back from shopping, actually tired from dealing with Impi.” Jyrki explained.

Soya frowned, only for Ville to explain. “Out of all the guys, Jussi is the only one that’s able to keep up with her when she’s in her more hyperactive stages. For Jussi to be tired after an afternoon with her it’s almost unheard of.”

Soya grinned. “She tires me out and that’s with Josef’s help. Oh Josef!” Soya said slapping her forehead.

Jyrki and Jussi raised an eyebrow, while Ville laughed. “What’s going on?”

“My friend is such a huge fan of you guys, when he hears that I not only saw you guys in concert but met you, he’s going to kill me.” She looked at Jyrki. “You’re on his list.”

Jyrki frowned. “List?”

Soya felt her cheeks redden, but laughed. “It’s his list of ten men he has a free pass to sleep with even if he’s in a relationship. Josef swears all men have this list.”

Jussi laughed, and looked over at Jyrki who was staring at Soya in disbelief, only to laugh harder. “I have to meet this Josef.”

“You do know you’re the reason Josef half hates Rosalind right?” Soya asked Jyrki.

“I don’t believe Rosalind’s ever mentioned Josef.” Jyrki admitted.

“Half hates?” Ville asked.

Soya smiled at him. “They get along, but when it comes to their sex life, which they talk about every time we’re all together, Josef believes that no matter whom he’s slept with and what he’s done it will never compare to the fact that Rosalind is sleeping with him.” She said, pointing her thumb over to Jyrki. “Josef will have some outrageous story about a dancer he’s been with, all Rosalind has to say is ‘Jyrki’ and Josef shuts up, it’s all very amusing.”

“Just hearing it is fucking hilarious.” Jussi laughed.

“You’re at the top of Josef’s list,” Soya told Jyrki.

“Good to know.” Jyrki laughed, just as the door opened, revealing Bam.

“Hey, we’re heading out, you two staying with us?” Bam asked.

“Three.” Jyrki said motioning to Impi who was still asleep. “We’ll grab our things and meet you outside.”

Bam nodded and went back to the bar to gather the rest of the crew, while Jyrki and Jussi stood; Soya carefully got up, taking Impi from Ville’s arms and adjusting the young girl in her own, allowing Ville to get up.

“You have her?” Ville asked, looking down at her ankle.

“I’m fine.” Soya assured, as she followed the men out of the room and outside to the bus where Jyrki and Jussi were opening the storage compartment under the bus and getting out the suitcases, including a pink suitcase with a very large and noticeable portrait of ‘Hannah Montana’. Soya bit her lip to keep from laughing, but a snort still escaped, while Ville didn’t try hard at all to cover his laughter.

“Go ahead, laugh.” Jyrki grumbled, closing the compartment as he picked up his suitcase and wheeled the Hannah Montana suitcase towards the Hummer, only causing Ville to laugh harder, while Soya tried to keep her laughter quiet, but failing miserably.

“Really.” She said as she followed behind Jyrki while Jussi was grinning widely. “It’s not the suitcase that’s making me laugh.”

“It’s making me laugh!” Ville said, not trying to keep his laughter a secret.

“It’s just…” Soya bit her lip as she grinned. “You’re all decked out in black, you’re….” she looked him up and down, from the black combat boots, to the leather pants, to the black band tee he had on and the leather jacket. “You’re just…all Goth.” She laughed, not being able to find a better way to explain it. “It’s ‘One of these is not like the others, one of these just doesn’t belong’ type games.”

Ville couldn’t help it as he leaned against the car, supporting himself as he laughed. “It’s not even that!” Ville laughed, he looked at Jyrki who was looking at him, clearly ready for anything Ville said. “I would respect you more if the suitcase were some sort of Disney princess or even Dora the Explorer, but Hannah Montana! Really!?”

Jussi snorted causing Jyrki to glare at him. “Really? Would you like to weigh in on this as well Jussi?” Jyrki asked. “Because last time you had to carry the damn thing, wasn’t so funny then was it?”

Jussi, bit his lip to keep from laughing, but shook his head, just as Bam and Missy walked out of the bar and headed towards them.

Missy’s eyes went straight to the suitcase and raised an eyebrow. “Did they lose your luggage at the airport Jyrki?”

Jyrki sighed, as Bam looked down at the suitcase that Jyrki was still holding and started laughing. “There are so many things to say about that suitcase right now, that I can’t even think straight.”

“It’s Impi’s.” Jyrki growled. “Just open the back.” He grabbed his own bag and started for the back of the car while grumbling. “I didn’t even buy the damn thing.”

Soya giggled as she opened the door to the Hummer, Ville helped her in, still quietly laughing as he slid in next to her. Jussi climbed in next, sitting next to Ville as Jyrki slid into the seat in front of them. Missy climbed into the passenger seat as Bam closed the back of the car and got into the drivers, starting the car and starting back to his house.

While the laughter and the loud noises of the bar didn’t wake Impi up, the sudden lurch of the car did. She lifted her head off Soya’s shoulder, and without a word pushed away and looked around the car with unblinking eyes, before settling on Jyrki who was watching her. She blinked then, before climbing out of Soya’s arms and over the seat to Jyrki.

Jyrki smiled lightly as he hugged her closely, rubbing her back as she started to fall back asleep.

“Where we?” she asked, her voice garbled with sleep.

“We’re going to a friend’s house.” Jyrki told her quietly.

“I’m hungry.” She whined.

Jyrki shook his head. “It’s time for sleep.” He told her.

Impi pulled away and frowned at him, no longer filled with sleep when she found out she was being denied.

“Watch.” Jussi told Ville quietly with a smirk. “This is where it gets funny.”

“But I want ice cream.” She told him.

“It’s too late for ice cream, Impi.” Jyrki told her, while Missy turned in her seat.

“I think we have some in the freezer at home.”

Jyrki shook his head. “Three Red Bulls is enough sugar, she’ll wait until tomorrow.”

“I want ice cream!” Impi said with a glare.

Jyrki looked down at her, “Ja minä sanoin ei.”(And I said no) he snapped, causing Impi’s eyes to water, as she pushed him away and climbed back over the seat to Jussi who had his arms open, already ready to accept her.

Isi!” she cried, causing both Soya and Ville to look over at Jyrki who was glaring at Jussi as Jussi rubbed the crying girl’s back.

“It’s all right kulta.” Jussi said quietly, glaring back Jyrki. “When we get to the house, you’ll eat all the ice cream you want. So much your tummy will hurt.”

“Don’t-” Jyrki started only for Jussi to cut him off.

“Does that sound like a good idea?” Jussi asked Impi quietly, the only sound was her quiet sniffles and a slight nod, before Jussi felt her sag underneath his hands. He looked back at Jyrki. “She’s done this before; I don’t know why you still don’t know how to handle it.”

“You coddle her!” Jyrki snapped. “She’s going to grow up thinking that if she throws a tantrum and goes running to you, that everything she wants she’ll get.”

“And she will.” Jussi shrugged.

“Et ole hänen vitun isä!”(You’re not her fucking father!) Jyrki snapped.

“Ilmeisesti kumpikaan olet!”(Apparently neither are you!) Jussi snapped back, causing Ville to push Jyrki back in his seat.

“Hey!” Ville snapped at them both, before looking over at Bam who was looking at the rearview mirror at them. “You better hurry up Bam, there’s only so long I can hold Jyrki.”

“I’m fine.” Jyrki muttered, turning around in his seat, glaring out the window.

Ville turned to Jussi who was still rubbing Impi’s back, soothing her back to sleep. “Why do you say shit like that?” Ville whispered

Jussi shrugged, but kept silent the rest of the ride to Bam’s house. Ten minutes later, they were pulling up the rainbow drive, having spent the rest of the ride in a tense silence. Jyrki got out of the car first, once it was in park, and accepted Impi when Jussi passed her to him carefully, so he could get out.

Ville jumped out, before helping Soya out, as she winced when she shifted onto her ankle. “You are definitely using the crutches tomorrow.”

Soya sighed, but nodded in acceptance, even she had to admit that getting the weight off her ankle would be God sent at the moment. She went around the back with the rest of the group, and grabbed Impi’s suitcase while Jussi grabbed his and Jyrki’s bags and followed Bam into the house.

“The only room free is going to be down here.” Bam told them.

Soya frowned. “I thought you said all the rooms were full and that’s why I had to sleep in Ville’s room.”

Ville laughed and kissed the top of her head. “I love how trusting you are.”

Soya frowned up at him. “What?”

“I may have lied,” Bam said, as Missy hit the back of his head. “It was for a good cause!”

Missy scoffed. “I highly doubt that.” She said as she headed up the stairs to their room. “As always, make yourselves at home guys.” Missy called back, Jyrki and Jussi stating their thanks at her back, before they moved towards the bedroom, Soya following with Impi’s suitcase.

She watched as Jyrki carefully laid Impi on the bed as Jussi dumped their bags on the floor.

“Do you want me to help you change her?” Soya asked handing Jyrki the suitcase.

Jyrki shook his head, but gave her a kind smile. “I think we have it covered, but thank you sweetheart.”

“Then I’ll head to bed,” Soya said. “Good night.”

“Night.” Both Jyrki and Jussi said as Jyrki closed the door behind her. Jyrki turned back and looked at Jussi who was already starting to take off Impi’s jewelry with practiced ease.

“You’re sleeping on the fucking floor.” Jyrki said as he bent down to open the suitcase, and rifle through to get the pink footie pajamas that had Disney princesses on it.

Jussi sighed as he took the flower brooch out of the little girl’s hair. “You know half the shit I say I don’t mean.”

Jyrki stayed silent as Jussi lifted Impi up and Jyrki unzipped the lace dress, taking it off her with skilled precision, before sliding on her pajamas and zipping them up, all without waking her up. Jussi undid the bed as Jyrki tucked her in rubbing his face tiredly.

“I’ll take the couch.” Jussi said, looking at the couch that was in the room. “If she wakes up she’ll be looking for you anyway.”

Jyrki sighed, but gave a nod as he started taking off his shoes. “You know I can’t stay mad at you for long.” Jyrki finally muttered

Jussi smirked over at him. “No one really can.”

Jyrki shook his head in amusement. “Bastard.”
