Scream Me a Dream

Chapter 57: The Bet

Jonne watched the couple from his spot in the corner of the room, he had been since they’d both walked in hand in hand and smiling. He’d been curious to see them together since he’d watched Soya go earlier; though he had to admit ever since Rosalind had claimed she had the perfect girl for Ville, Jonne had been interested mostly because he’d assumed anyone who claimed the Spanish drummer as a best friend had to be just as crazy and outspoken as Rosalind.

He watched Soya, who was sitting on the ground in front of the couch, talk to Paavo of Apocalyptica, Jonne had caught wind of their conversation earlier; apparently they both had a common friend in the “Finnish National Opera” that they’d started talking about, though now Soya’s fingers were up in the air in proper cello form, causing Paavo to laugh at whatever she had said and nod in agreement. While Soya sat on the ground having her own conversation, Ville was on the couch next to her, turned slightly away talking with Antti, Jussi and Baize.

Even though they were both having two different conversations, in the time Jonne had been watching them, he’d noticed that while their attention was focused on the people they were talking to, they never forgot about each other.

Ville’s fingers were constantly running over the back of Soya’s neck or playing with strands of her hair, and when he stopped to use his hands in the conversation, Soya’s hand would find its way under his pant leg and rub his ankle. Though Jonne was sure that if Soya was on the couch, her hand would be on Ville’s thigh or rubbing his lower back as Jonne had seen her do earlier when they’d been standing.

Jonne was quite amazed at how attentive they were to each other without being overbearing or even so overly affectionate that it made others uncomfortable; in fact, he had a feeling that if he hadn’t spent so much time watching them, he wouldn’t have noticed the small detail, he was positive that the people surrounding them didn’t see it at all.

Hola Jonne.” Rosalind greeted as she settled on his lap. Jonne absently opened his arms to accommodate her.

“Rosie.” He nodded, moving his gaze from the couple to the round table near the balcony where Jyrki was sitting playing cards with Burton, Linde and Timo-Timo. Even with Jyrki wearing his sunglasses, Jonne could feel the heat of his gaze.

“Why do you tease him?” Jonne asked with a sigh. “You know he doesn’t like it when you show affection to other men.”

Rosalind looked over her shoulder at Jyrki, and sent him a wink, causing the corner of Jyrki’s lip to quirk up and look away. “He doesn’t mind it Jonne, we just have a trust issue.”

“You don’t trust him, or he doesn’t trust you?”

Rosalind shrugged. “We trust each other, there’s just an issue, now drop it.”

“Fine.” Jonne nodded, looking back over at Ville and Soya.

“Who are you staring at?”

Jonne nudged his chin over toward the couple. “They’re good together.”

Rosalind smirked. “I know. I’m very proud I set that up.”

Jonne snorted as he looked at Rosalind. “You didn’t set up shit; they worked that all out on their own, give credit where credit is due.”

“Fine,” Rosalind nodded. “They did, now to see if they’re smart enough to keep each other.”

“That’s the question, isn’t it?” Jonne smirked. “You know, I do like them together, I wasn’t so sure when I first met Soya, she seems much too innocent to be able to deal with this type of lifestyle, but she can definitely hold her own.”

Rosalind nodded in agreement looking at her best friend as Soya nodded at whatever Paavo was saying, obviously listening intently. “She has her moments of innocence, she receded a lot into herself when she reached New York, but I’m seeing a lot of Soya’s old personality shining through just with her short time back here with her friends. But then, doesn’t Ville have his shy moments too?”

Jonne nodded. “Yes, but I’m not talking about shyness, I’m talking innocence. She seems a bit...naïve.”

“Just a bit.” Rosalind agreed. “But I think that’s what makes her perfect for Ville. You like her Jonne.” Rosalind teased.

“She’s an interesting woman, I’ll give her that. Ville is very lucky to have her; I just worry that while they have the time off now to spend with each other, how it’s going to work when they both start touring again?” Jonne smirked up at Rosalind. “Not every relationship can work as perfectly as yours and Jyrki’s.”

Rosalind frowned. “Jyrki and I, we do what’s right for each other; if it means agreeing to break up when we tour in different cities, then so be it, it’s right for us. I highly doubt that type of relationship works for anyone else, let alone Ville and Soya. They’ll figure it out; they just have to open up.”

Jonne nodded as he looked back at them, before looking over at Rosalind. “You know, Linde was telling me earlier that they have a bet going.”

Rosalind smirked. “I’m always up for betting, what is it?”

“Well apparently, Soya got a flat in Helsinki.”

“Why the hell would she do that?!” Rosalind asked, blinking.

“That’s what Mige and Linde asked too.” Jonne laughed. “Apparently they’re betting on how long it’ll take for Soya to move in with Ville.”

Rosalind bit her lip. “When they say move in, what does that mean?”

Jonne smirked. “Want to go ask? I hear Burton’s taking the bets.”

“Ah! You know me so well.” Rosalind laughed getting off him, and helping him up before talking over to the table and settling down on Jyrki’s lap while Jonne took the seat next to Burton.

“Deal you in?” Burton asked.

“Actually, I hear if I want to place a bet, I talk to you.”

Burton smirked as he looked over at Linde who was looking very amused. “Depends on the bet,”

“Oh!” Rosalind clapped her hands happily. “I feel like I’m in a mob movie.” She looked at Jyrki. “If I find you a zoot suit and one of those gun holsters, would you wear it?”

“No.” Jyrki chuckled kissing the side of her neck.

“How about in bed though?” Rosalind asked, causing the rest of the table to groan while Jykri shook his head in amusement, too use to Rosalind’s lack of filter to be bothered by it.

“Maybe.” Jyrki hedged, “But I’m still leaning more towards the ‘no’.” Jyrki told her with a smirk.

Jonne rolled his eyes. “So, do I speak to you?”

Burton laughed. “What bet are you talking about? We have a bunch going right now.”

“We’re talking about the Soya and Ville one.” Rosalind said.

“Ah, then yes, you speak to me. Now,” Burton took out his phone. “We have a few going right now that involves them.”

“Do you really have nothing better to do than organizing betting pools?” Jyrki asked.

“Seeing as you placed five hundred Euros on this, I’d say no.” Burton said, raising an eyebrow in Jyrki’s direction.

“Five hundred Euros!” Rosalind asked looking at Jyrki.

Jyrki shrugged. “I bet on an entire week, its a hundred Euros to buy in.”

“Did you bet on this?” Jonne asked Timo-Timo, who was watching the interaction in amusement.

“I did, I have the second week of October.” Timo-Timo laughed. “Best five hundred Euro’s I’ve spent this tour.”

“What are the conditions?” Jonne asked

“Oh, I thought you’d never ask.” Burton laughed. “Linde would you like the honors?”

“Well thank you.” Linde smirked. “Seeing as Mige and I know Soya much better than the rest of you, we know that they won’t officially move in together. Soya will keep her flat and Ville is obviously going to keep his tower. But, we figured,” Linde laughed. “that at some point in her stay, she’d stop sleeping in her flat all together and end up driving to Ville’s to spend the night instead of going to her own home. The bet is, once Soya sleeps at Ville’s tower.”

“Or the other way around.” Burton corrected, “Ville sleeping at Soya’s flat.”

“For an entire month, then we consider them moved in.” Linde nodded. “Though, we are also allowing an official move in, on the off chance they do just jump in and do it.”

“What are we talking about?” Jussi asked sitting on the free chair next to Jykri and Rosalind.

“Have you bet on the Soya-Ville living accommodations?” Jonne asked

Jussi snorted. “Who hasn’t?” What had started as a bet between close friends had grown into a bet with everyone who had come in contact with the couple.

Jonne laughed, before turning back to Burton. “What are the date restrictions on this thing?”

“We only bet on one week at a time, and-” Burton started, taking his phone out of his pocket where he had been recording everyone’s bets. “The bet starts on the ninth of this month, betting dates begin on the second week of September, which marks the first month and goes until Soya’s birthday.”

“Which is?” Jonne asked.

“December 25th.” Burton answered.

“We figure.” Linde explained. “That if Soya hasn’t lived at Ville’s by her birthday, then she’s not going to and she leaves the second week of January anyway.”

“So,” Burton smirked. “Do you want in?”

Jonne nodded slowly, looking over at Ville and Soya. “I’ll take the first week of September.” Jonne smirked. “They’re not going to last that long apart.”

Rosalind smirked as she looked over at her friends, watching as they talked quietly to each other, before standing up, Ville helping Soya off the ground. “I don’t know, Soya is pretty stubborn.”

“Ah.” Timo-Timo smirked. “Rosalind’s psychic is coming out.”

Rosalind sent him a glare, before looking at Burton. “November 15th.”

Burton raised an eyebrow. “You sure you don’t want the week?”

Rosalind shook her head. “It’s going to be the fifteenth.”

“Fifteenth what?” Soya asked, before her eyes settled on the table. “Oh, what are we playing?”

“I refuse to play if Soya does.” Linde said, before taking out his vibrating cell phone. “It’s Toni, I’ll be back.”

“Now, the fifteenth what?” Soya asked, taking Linde’s vacated seat.

Burton laughed, grasping at the first thing that came to mind and also wanting to see if he could get Soya to bet on herself. “We’re betting on when Linde’s going to propose to Toni.”

“Oh!” Soya bit her lip, before looking at Rosalind who was smirking at her. “You bet the fifteenth?”

Rosalind nodded slowly as the occupants at the table watched Soya closely as she shuffled the cards Linde had left on the table. “Of November. Do you want to place a bet Soya?”

Soya wrinkled her nose. “Betting on people is so mean spirited.”

Ville chuckled behind her as he pulled her up from her chair so he could sit down, only to pull her down and settle her on his lap. “Betting with us is all in good fun though Soya, nothing mean spirited about it. Who’s the bet on?”

Jussi laughed. “Linde proposing to Toni.”

“Oh, well then, that’s a good one, what do you say Soya, want to share a bet with me?” Ville smirked, wrapping his arm around her waist to keep her balanced.

Soya rolled her eyes. “Fine, but I’ll go with Rosalind’s dates.”

Jyrki snorted, “You do know Rosalind is horrible at bets, she has three tattoos that prove it.”

“Only when the bets concern her.” Soya pointed out. “When it concerns others, her feelings come out and I trust them, I’ll take the week of the fifteenth.”

Burton laughed and nodded as he typed Soya’s name into his cell phone. “Ville, you in as well?”

“Might as well.” Ville nodded. “I’ll go with Soya’s dates.”

Burton smirked, typing in Ville’s name as well. “Well then, that couldn’t be more perfect.”

Ville looked over at Jyrki who was smirking into his cards. “When do you guys leave?”

“Couple of hours.” Jyrki told him, putting his cards down.

Ville pulled Soya’s hand back as she went for the cards. “Stop, you card shark.”

Soya rolled her eyes. “No one ever wants to play cards with me.”

“Because you cheat everyone out of their money!” Ville laughed, looking at Burton who was collecting the cards and shuffling them. “Don’t deal her in, she may seem innocent but she hustles when it comes to poker.”

Burton laughed. “Who taught you how to play?”

Soya bit her lip, frowning as she thought about it. “Um…I think it was my grandfather on my father’s side. I really don’t remember the man, I just remember him teaching me how to play and I guess it stuck.”

Burton nodded in understanding. “Are you close to your grandparents on your mother’s side?”

Soya shook her head. “I’ve never met them.” She gave a shrug. “If they’re anything like my mother I’d rather not.”

Burton nodded slowly, letting the subject drop as Ville’s arms tightened around Soya’s waist as he took the cards Burton had handed out.

“Soya, have I ever told you what song was playing when Impi was conceived?” Rosalind asked with a smirk, trying to lighten the mood at the table that had suddenly become tense.

“And that’s when we say goodnight.” Jyrki said standing up, before hauling Rosalind over his shoulder. “I should go pack anyway.”

“Wait! Wait!” Rosalind cried grabbing Soya’s top, causing Jyrki to stop, before Rosalind’s grip toppled Soya off Ville. “You’ll come down in a couple hours to say good bye to the guys, right?”

Soya saw the pleading gaze Rosalind sent her and nodded, knowing that saying goodbye to Jyrki was always hard on Rosalind. “Of course Rose, I’ll be down there, just call me when you guys head down.”

“All right then.” Rosalind said, nodding before slapping Jyrki’s ass into motion. “We’re good to go.”

“Jus, follow me.” Jyrki smirked, heading out the door.

Jussi sighed, handing his cards to Burton. “I guess I’ve got babysitting duty.”

“Why?” Soya asked.

Jussi looked at Soya with a smirk. “Jyrki’s been packed for hours, but they can’t do anything with Impi in the room. See you downstairs in a couple hours.” Jussi laughed, as he watched Soya blush.

Soya shook her head, knowing that the boys enjoyed getting a rise out of her, before slipping off Ville’s lap and into the chair next to him. “So, really what are we playing?”

XxxxxxX

“You feel no guilt whatsoever do you?” Ville asked with a smirk as he walked into the elevator behind Soya.

Soya raised her eyebrow at him as she stuffed the wad of bills she’d won in the last two hours into her pocket. “Should I? It’s not my fault you guys suck at cards.”

“You know, I’m not sure what it is, but I like this side of you.” Ville teased.

“Mige blames the Finnish air.” Soya said with a shrug.

Ville laughed, wrapping his arm around her shoulder. “Oh, yes, because it is so much different from American air.”

Soya frowned. “You don’t feel it?”

Ville laughed. “Soya, we live in Finland of course the air is different, it’s because we live so close to the Arctic Circle.” He teased, causing Soya to elbow him in the gut.

“Stop making fun of me.” She laughed, leaning up to kiss his chin. “You’re being annoying.”

“Ah, but you love me annoying.”

Soya rolled her eyes. “My love can only run so deep Ville.”

“That hurt, sweetheart.” Ville said staggering against the wall of the elevator, his hand over his heart.

“You’re such a dork.” Soya laughed, hugging his waist as the elevator doors opened to the lobby floor where the guys of The 69 Eyes were saying good bye to their friends and loading their luggage into the car that would take them to the airport. Soya scanned the crowd and found Rosalind in the corner of the lobby with Impi in her arms as she spoke to Jyrki quietly. Jyrki was running his hand through Impi’s hair as Rosalind spoke, nodding at what she said.

“Come to say goodbye have you?”

Soya looked up and saw Jussi walking towards them with a grin. “Apparently I wasn’t allowed not to.” she laughed, giving him a hug.

“Where are you off to now?” Ville asked.

“Germany.” Jussi said, before looking over his shoulder at Rosalind and Jyrki who were still talking away from the group, where Soya’s gaze kept straying. “They’ll be fine.”

“Are you sure?” Soya asked with a worried glance at the couple.

Jussi hesitated, before giving a sigh. “It’s getting harder for them to part, especially now that Impi understands what’s happening. It was easier leaving them when Impi was a baby but now she’s getting that she might not see us for a few months and it gets her upset and then Rosalind gets upset and Jyrki feels guilty.” Jussi rolled his eyes. “Really I think they should just say ‘fuck it’ and get married already, but you know how stubborn they are.”

“Yes, they are quite stubborn.” Ville agreed, watching as Rosalind allowed Impi down from her arms so she could hug Jyrki. Impi watched them, before turning around, catching sight of them and grinning before running towards them.

Tia Soya!” Impi cried launching herself into Soya’s leg.

“Well hello to you too.” Soya laughed, picking her up. Impi looked at Jussi with a wide grin before reaching her arms out to be with him. Soya easily transferred her to Jussi, who hugged her tightly.

“Are you going to miss me?” he asked with a grin, kissing the five year olds chubby cheek.

“Kyllä.” (yes) Impi nodded.

“And you’ll be good for your äiti?”(mom) Jussi asked with a smirk

Impi laughed, hugging him tighter. “Kenties.”(Maybe) Impi said slowly, causing Jussi to laugh and hug her tighter.

“I will definitely miss you pikkuinen.”

“I’ll miss you too isi!”(daddy) Impi giggled hugging his neck.

“Soya.” Ville said quietly.

“Hmm?” she looked up at him, only to frown at his pointed finger. She turned around and saw Rosalind walking towards the elevator, her arms crossed over her chest as Jyrki watched her helplessly, as if he wasn’t sure to let her go or follow her. “I’ll be back.”

Ville nodded as Soya left, rushing to the elevator just as Jyrki reached the doors as well.

“Don’t be like this Rosalind.” Jyrki said quietly.

“I’m not being like anything.” Rosalind shrugged. “Have a great tour, I’ll see you in September, and that’s even if you decide to come to Spain.”

Jyrki shook his head, letting her go and raising his hands in defense. “You can’t make me feel guilty about something we both do Lyn. It’s not fair to either of us, if you want to act like a bitch fine, but don’t you dare make me feel guilty.” Jyrki shook his head before turning his back on them and leaving, walking towards where Jussi and Ville were with Impi.

“Rose.” Soya said quietly, putting a hand on Rosalind’s arm. “Are you okay?”

“I’m fine.” Rosalind said with a nod, pushing the button for the elevator. “I hate to ask but do you think you could…”

“I’ll keep Impi.” Soya said with a nod. “We’ll be in Ville’s room.”

“Thanks.” Rosalind said, biting her lip before getting on the elevator as the door opened. “You know,” Rosalind said holding the door open, “There are some days I do regret saying ‘no’ to him.” She looked over Soya’s shoulder as she watched Jyrki hug Impi. “Today isn’t one of them.”

“Rose.” Soya sighed.

“I just need some time; I’ll go get her in the morning.” Rosalind said, letting the doors close.

Soya rubbed her face with her hand, before running it through her hair and walking back to the group.

“Are you going to yell at me now?” Jyrki asked looking at Soya as he rubbed Impi’s back.

“Why would I yell?” Soya asked, with a shrug. “What you and Rosalind do with your relationship is your business, not mine, and if it means acting like idiots, then who am I to judge?”

Jyrki shook his head in amusement, “Well now that I’ve been put in my place…” He said before kissing Impi’s temple. “Rakastan sinua.”(I love you)

Impi pulled away and grinned and him, giving him a kiss on the lips. “Minäkin rakastan sinua isi.”(I love you too daddy)

“I’ll see you next month, all right? I promise.” Jyrki said, kissing her one last time, before handing her to Ville.

“Enjoy your time in Finland Soya; I’m sure I’ll see you next month.” Jussi grinned.

Soya smiled. “I’ll be here. Have a great tour.”

“We always do.” Jussi laughed, giving her one last hug, kissing the back of Impi’s head before walking out the lobby doors.

“Yes,” Jyrki sighed. “We do.”

Soya frowned at him. “Don’t let Rosalind’s actions get to you, you know how she is. She acts tough but she’s just as defenseless as the rest of us.” Soya bit her lip before hugging Jyrki. “This is just as hard on her as it is on you, she doesn’t mean half of what she says.”

Jyrki chuckled. “Yes, she does, but thank you for making me feel better.” He pulled away and clapped Ville on the arm. “You got yourself a good one Valo, keep her around.”

“I’ll try my best.” Ville laughed, as Jykri gave Impi one last kiss, before turning himself and leaving.

“I’m guessing we’re keeping this one?” Ville asked as he walked them towards the elevator.

“Just for the night.” Soya admitted.

Ville nodded. “When I have her, she usually sleeps in the bed with me, do you mind or do you want to go ask for an extra bed?”

“I don’t mind sharing the bed with her.” Soya said as they entered the elevator and pushed the button to the right floor.

“Where’s mami?” Impi asked, clinging to Ville’s neck.

“She’s back in her room.” Ville said carefully. “But I don’t think I’m quite ready to let you go just yet, pikkuinen, do you want to sleep with me and Täti Soya tonight?”

Impi gave a small shrug and a yawn, resting her head on Ville’s shoulder. “Okay.”

“Okay then,” Ville said, looking at Soya. “That was easy.”

Soya laughed, as the doors opened to their floor and walked towards their room. Half an hour later, once Impi was settled on the couch, claiming she wanted to sleep by herself like a big girl, Soya and Ville got ready for bed. Ville watched from his spot leaning against the headboard as Soya brushed out her hair.

“Why do you think they do it?” Soya asked, turning to look at Ville as she separated her hair and pulled half of it over her shoulder to braid it.

“Why do who do what?” Ville asked.

Soya laughed quietly. “Rosalind and Jyrki, why do you think they keep doing what they do?”

Ville shrugged. “They love each other, I mean, they’ve lasted this long together doing what they do; I think they’ll continue to survive.”

Soya bit her lip as she put the band around her braid and pulled the other half over her shoulder and started in on that side. “But don’t you think all their problems would be solved if one of them moved.”

Ville shrugged. “Why would they? Jyrki’s life is here in Finland, Rosalind’s is in Spain, everyone would have to uproot just for them to spend more time together. What they have works for them; I mean would you move to Finland just because it would ultimately make our relationship easier?”

Soya shrugged. “Would you move to New York?”

Ville rolled his eyes. “My point is, that every relationship is going to have its ups and downs, right now, this happens to be a down for them. Like Jussi said Soya, as time goes on, it’s going to get harder and harder for them to separate and they’ll figure something else for their relationship to work. Jyrki and Rosalind are meant for each other, nothing’s going to tear them apart.”

Soya snorted as she banded her braid and got into bed, next to Ville, “Yeah, nothing but themselves.”

Ville chuckled as he looked over at Impi on the couch, covered in the comforter, before turning off the light and wrapping himself around Soya as she turned to face him, his fingers automatically crawling up her shirt and trailing up and down her spine. “Every relationship is different Soya, this on and off again thing Rosalind and Jyrki have works for them, and when it doesn’t they’ll fix it so it does. The love between them is strong.”

“I know that.” Soya sighed. “I just don’t like seeing Rosalind upset, and now that I’ve gotten to know Jyrki and I’ve seen him with her, I don’t like seeing him upset either.”

Ville nodded in agreement. “It’ll all be forgotten about tomorrow, they’ll talk it out and they’ll be fine. You know they never end on bad terms, I admire that in them.”

Soya kissed the middle of Ville’s chest. “You promise they’ll be fine?”

Ville laughed, leaning down to press a kiss on the top of Soya’s head. “Swear it, and we’ll be fine too Soya.”

Soya grinned. “That I already know.”
