Devon's Lullabye
Prologue
The file clearly stated it. On the eve of All Hallows eve, Mark Rowen had come to walk in on his best friend, Devon Blake, cutting her wrists in an attempt to commit suicide. Hearing his pained cries of agony, a neighbor came by to find Mark holding what appeared to be a lifeless girl.
Paramedics were called, and it was announced Devon to be in a coma-like state. The boy would come to visit her everyday, alone. It was decided by paramedics to let the boy go on with the frequent visits, but everyone worried about the effects this would have on his mental health.
One day, at roughly 9:30 pm, a devout christian member, Ms. Frank, had made the snide comment that; should Devon not recover, she'd be brought to hell, straight for the devil. And should she recover be banned from attending the church. Rowen replied by breaking the woman's nose.
A year passed, and soon people began to lose hope. Announcing her to be a lost cause, her visits from the town people became less frequent, until, soon, they diminished. All, except, for Rowen's.
