The fact that he had to abandon his parents didn't bother him. They were never home anyway, so he wasn't going to be missing much.

There wasn't much time before he turned eighteen and he had no idea what he was waiting for. Well, he sure as hell was afraid of being caught and ruining the system of escape. No matter what they'd do to him after that, nothing was worse than the feeling of destroying something so vital. Well, vital to people who were smart enough to avoid the brainwashing and felt the need to escape all of this.

It was now or never. Gavin got off the couch and grabbed a bag filled with his clothing and some other items. He was going to do this.

Short chapter but the next one will be better and there will be more of the story in it.
