Nicholas looks at her thinking over what she just said. He looks at her. She has a light blue summer dress on; it makes her eyes look pretty. She takes her thumb up to her mouth and suck on it.
“How old are you?”
She looks up when she hears him speak, removing the thumb from her mouth. “I’m four. But I turn five this summer.”
“Mmmhm, I’m five. I turn six in September.” He answers even if she didn’t ask.
“Where are your parents?” He asks.
“Why are you asking so many questions?” She asks, not answering him.
“How old are you?”
