You're All I Have

Two.

“Hey mom, how come this medicine takes so long to start working.” I asked. “Well I guess your body has to get used to it first.” She said. “Oh, okay.” I whispered as I took the blue and white pill. We had just got back from the doctor. Mom said it was finally time we went to see someone. “What did that doctor say again?” She looked at me and then looked off into the distance, “You have Major Depressive Disorder, Anxiety Disorder, Dementia, and Insomnia.” She answered. “Wow, how'd you remember all that? I don't even know what day it is!” I laughed. Mom just stared at the ground.

She looked older today. Each day it seemed she aged ten times as fast. I suppose putting up with me would make anyone tired. Three days from my fifteenth birthday I was admitted into a mental hospital. When I read on the internet that pills don't always work, maybe I should have listened. After I got out mom took me to the doctor. She promised someday I would be better. I believed her. After all, she would never lie to me.
