Black Lace

It was a dark and stormy night, that night by the lake. It was such a moonless night. The water like a glittering black knife. The wind blowing through the branches of the surrounding forest, whipping my hair around my face.

O, how I love it.

The lightning like shattered glass in the sky, with the thunder drumming in the distance. The rain hitting the water with such force, it's like explosions.

Alone in my haven, my calm haven of rest and peace.

Wait, I am no longer alone in the forest. My brothers have started to look for me. If it wasn’t for that silly ball they wouldn’t have given it a second thought to where I was. I’m sure my father means to raise everyone’s spirits but it’s just to soon after my mother’s riding accident. He must have realized I was not in my rooms getting ready for his ball. I say his because I would rather have no part in it. To be floated around in every eligible young man’s arms is not my idea of fun.

I suppose I should come out willingly and get ready. I wouldn’t want father to send the guard out after me.
