blast from the past.

The rest of the day whizzed by in a flash, thank goodness. After having gone through the entire day, I have come to find that Kristina is in quite a few of my classes. Four, to be exact. She sat at our table at lunch, and got to know the gang.

And I invited her to go to the movies tonight. Jacob's coming too, because he's my slave; and Paul's coming, because he's awesome.

Now, I‘m at home, sitting at my desk, staring at my computer (which finally works thanks to the lovely handiwork of none other than Jacob Black), searching the Internet for Halloween costume ideas. Halloween's coming up very soon. Today is October the 24th, which gives me a week to find a costume. I asked Jacob what he's going to go as, and he told me that all of the guys (and Leah) are going as werewolves.

Pretty lame, huh? I'm thinking that since they're going as werewolves, I might go as like, a witch or vampire, but my options are open. I looked at the little clock at the lower right-hand side of my computer's screen and saw that it read 6:29 P.M. Almost time for Jacob to pick me up.

I shut down my computer and got up out of my desk chair.

I kind of like having Jacob as my slave. It means I don't have to drive myself everywhere. Kind of like having a chauffer, except different. Ha-ha.

A horn honked outside my window, and I smiled. My slave was right on time.

I grabbed my purse and ran down the stairs, out the door, and into Jacob's Rabbit. Paul was already inside the clunky vehicle in the passenger's seat when I jumped in the back, and he winked at me.

I stuck my tongue out at him and leaned forward to ask Jacob a question.

"Why are we taking your horrendous car when we could be taking my beauty of a sport utility vehicle?"

Jacob replied by turning on the radio. "Smooth Criminal" by Michael Jackson was playing.

I yelped with delight and began to dance to the wonderfully catchy music. Every time the King of Pop said "You've been hit by, you've been struck by, a smooth criminal," Paul and I would yell it in unison. And Jacob would just roll his eyes. What a party-pooper.

Kristina had given me her address earlier that day, and she actually lived in Forks, the neighboring town that I have never actually been to, yet.

When I asked her why she went to La Push High School instead of Forks High, she had rolled her eyes and said that her parents had been to La Push before and they believed in the legend mumbo jumbo junk that Billy had told about at the campfire gathering. Apparently they were afraid of those "chilly ones" or whatever.

I (and Kristina agrees with me) still think it's a load of bull. But whatever.

We pulled up to a cute little house that had two stories. I thought it was just plain adorable, but when Jacob turned into the driveway, I caught a glimpse of his face in the rear-view mirror. The look on his face was one of complete sorrow. I titled my head in concern, and nudged him.

"Yo, slave, I demand you to tell me what's wrong."

Without warning, a convulsion shook Jacob's body, and it looked like he was having a seizure or something. I was actually afraid for like, three seconds, and then it was over, and Paul was sitting beside me in the back and Jacob was out of the car, walking toward Kristina's door. I was in full-on shock, considering how Paul and Jacob had moved so quickly, but that did not stifle my curiosity.

"What the heck?" I asked Paul incredulously.

He looked me in the eyes, and softly muttered a name. "Bella."
