Keep the Faith
Scared.
Scared (adj.) feeling full of worry or fear.
It was what he’d been, when they’d performed their first song. It was what he’d been when they released their first album. It was what he’d been when he said all those inspiring words, what he’d been when people started hearing their music.
Would they accept him – them? He asked, at night, when he was falling asleep. Would they judge him, for his looks, for his problems, and his mistakes?
But somehow, he always managed to swallow his fear for just a little while, whilst he walked out onto that stage, and they performed song after beautiful song. It wasn’t always perfect, but it didn’t have to be.
Acceptance. That was what he’d searched for, and that was what he’d found. His words were heard, people fell in love with him, admired him, were inspired by him, and encouraged him. He wasn’t just some one hit wonder, never to be heard of again. To them, he was so much more. And for that, he was overjoyed.
It seemed silly, looking back, how he’d been so scared. No need to be scared of love.
